No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

I've got this error message everytime I try to access Backlight admin site or a Backlight Gallery.

fwrite() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given|/homepages/33/d194370225/htdocs/malmoth-photo/v4.0/backlight/framework/helpers/ErrorHandler.php|165
Something went wrong
Unexpected error: fwrite() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given in ErrorHandler.php on line 165

Please report error at http://community.theturninggate.net

I've changed nothing in the Backlight directory.

I could have transfer the whole backlight directory to the web space again, but I fell like I may loose some config data doing so.

Anyone can help me on this?

Frederic

Re: No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

Are you using the latest version of Backlight? I would download the modules again and install them to see if this fixes the issue.

The reason for this message is most likely a PHP version change done by your host.

Re: No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

I'm using Backlight-123-Release6 with PHP 7.2. I haven't received any other upgrade notification. Should I upgrade to Backlight 2?

It looks like Release 7 is the latest. Just use the last link you have to download the latest version.

I like Backlight 2. Many things such as upgrades are so much easier. If you can, I definitely would recommend to upgrade.

Re: No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

I'm having the same problem.  I believe I'm on Backlight 123 release 7.  How do I update to Backlight 2 when I don't have admin access?

You don't need admin access to update from Backlight to Backlight 2. All you need is ftp access to your server.

Re: No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

This is caused by some kind of permission issue, and all things being equal would happen on both BL1 and BL2.
I'm not sure why it happens because the code successfully checks that the directory can be written to before trying to open a file in that directory, where the error occurs.
Grover, can you provide me with FTP access via email, and steps to reproduce it?

Re: No access to Backlight frontend nor backend

OK.  My webhost, Bravenet.com, upgraded the site PHP from 5.6.x to 7.3.x yesterday.  I was able to deprecate it back to 7.0.x for the time being and I can get into my admin again.  Anything above 7.0.x doesn't work.

Here is the note from Bravenet.

"Dear Bravenet FTP Hosting Customer

This is a final reminder that we have a scheduled upgrade for your your PHP version in your Bravehost FTP hosting account from PHP version 5.6.x to 7.3.x on July 23, 2019. Most modern PHP scripts (such as WordPress, Joomla!, etc) run great on the PHP 7.3.x platform, however we recommend you test this for yourself before the scheduled change.

If you need additional time, This upgrade can be deferred by 8 weeks from today by clicking the Defer link under the Web Hosting tab on your account.

You can test out your own site by setting your account to PHP version 7.3.x using the directions below:

- Login to your Bravenet account
- Click on the "Web Hosting" tab near the top of the page
- Click on "Select PHP Version"
- Select version 7.3.x from the dropdown
- Click on "Change Version"

After this change, please verify your site to look for issues that may need to be resolved before the official change to 7.3.x.

If you have any questions or concerns, please open a support ticket at https://www.bravenet.com/help/.

Thanks for using Bravenet,

The Bravenet Team"
