Ok good.
So I changed to the standard slideshow and yes, the swipe works on mobiles.
But I want the landing page to go straight to the slideshow, without the user seeing the thumbnails.
Is there a way to do that? I could not see a 'Disable' in the thumbnail section.
Is there one?
I would like to see a slideshow with the option to add a swipe feature on mobile devices. This must be a preferred way of moving through a gallery on a phone. Or did I not see something already?
Thanks
Peter
Thanks for the help!
In your album template under Image Renditions you specify the size and quality of the jpegs that Publisher uses to 'publish' the album assigned to that template.
Oh, I see. That's great info. Exactly what I was looking for!!!
Cheers!
you do have sharpening and jpg quality control.
more on jpg quality: http://ce4.theturninggate.net/2012/03/1 … -settings/
This is when you are editing and exporting a file from LR yes?
But when you 'Publish' an album, the images go through other processing right? Where do you access those settings?
Or I am off base?
Thanks to all comments & suggestions. FYI, ctrl F5 on Chrome doesn't reload images so you do have to go through the settings to do that. I thought that ctrl F5 did that at one point in Chrome's life, but not sure what it does now. Image file sizes are small enough for fast loading but the quality did not suffer. Even though the resolution did not change, and image rendition settings are matching, the quality is reduced somewhere in the process of publishing. I would like to have control over that, but for now, I'm satisfied with what it's doing. Still some learning curve to the design process, but way 'less steep'!! I should be able to finish the home page soon, then on to the galleries and other pages.
Cheers.

I'm guessing it's your browser's cache. Try flushing the cache from your browser and then reloading the pages in question.
Man - You nailed it!
I opened the page up in IE instead of Chrome and, it was fine all along.
Upon further investigation, I can see by logging on to my host that the uploaded images are great (1920x912). Which leads me to believe it's a setting in Backlight somewhere...
I'll investigate further tomorrrow
I do have those set correctly, but I still am getting images that are 960x456 instead of 1920x912
When you Publish in LR, there are no image size/quality options in the TTG plugin, like there are for other Publisher plugins.
Good info on the site, and nice sample java scripts.
Thanks!
Not sure where I am losing the sharpness of the photos, but the originals, imported into LR, are very sharp & hi-res.
When they are published, I can 'View' them from the Albums section in Backlight and it's quite a drop in quality.
The file size is only 1/10 of the original and resolution has been changed.
Where do I control these settings?
It's a fine line between fast loading and quality trade off, I know. But I would like to improve on it.
Thanks.
Peter
I tried that (inline) option. Didn't do anything that I could see - maybe it's a cache thing again...
Ill try again.
Edit:
It was set to inline, so I refreshed and it now shows up as expected (Host problem again...)
Hi,
I want to place items below a full screen Vegas SS.
I entered some text in the different 'Copy' boxes in the Page settings (Main copy, Tray 01 copy & Tray 02 copy), to see where they would appear.
I also used the Insert Contact Form.
It doesn't look pretty!
Is this a limitation of using the Vegas SS?
thanks!
I mean, it's rewarding when you get what you are trying to achieve, and the process is now waaay easier than going through the LR plugins I also used way back.
It's just frustrating when you are dumb like me when it comes to coding.
(I can design a mean 16 layer, impedance controlled, route length matched signal, A-D PCB with 15,000 connections on it, including a 2000 pin FPGA though...)
According to the Google Fonts site, you should use 'Spectral SC' as the prepend
I guess you got that from the 'CSS' code?
I should have looked at that.
Ok, it didn't like the '+'.
Looks good now.
Spectral SC not Spectral+SC
(Like, how is a photographer supposed to know this stuff!)
Thanks a ton for your help.
So I thought this would be straight forward. It worked with another font...
I have: <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Spectral+SC" rel="stylesheet">
in my Typography Google font box, and this: Spectral+SC in my Navigation Prepend Font-family w/ box.
The font is not Spectral+SC.
Do I need to do something else? I tried diff. items in the Font Family box (in the Navigation settings)
I gave my wife the page of fonts to choose from, thinking any in the serif, san-serif families would work.
(Why is this stuff so frustrating?)
Edit:
I tried using Tangerine and setting Times New Roman as the family, and that shows the Tangerine font correctly, but can't do the Spectral+SC
FYI, make sure you only select from the 3 families: Serif, Sans Serif & Monospace.
Maybe what I should have said is that you can assign more than one album to PAGE template.
But when you call up that PAGE template on to a page, if there are several albums linked to it, then it can only use one album right?
Or does it display all the albums, one after each other?
Edit:
Ah, I see. Only one album, but it gets selected at the 'Page' level, right?
If I upload a new set of images, I am able to assign the album to a template.
If the template already has an album assigned to it, then both albums show up in the list (Top-level/Galleries/Albums)
But the common template will only display the first album.
Shouldn't the program not allow you to assign an album to a template that already has an album? Or should it just ask if you want to overwrite the current album assigned to it?
An option might be the way to go, especially if the problem is host related.
I am guessing a lot of it is GoDaddy related. Thanks for all your help again!

The way I got it to work (and I don't know why this worked) was to add text to the page's main content. Then the album showed. I then removed the text.
It appears clearing the cache is what needs to be done for changes to take place. Should be a sticky?
Maybe cache clearing should be done automatically when you save. Is there a reason it shouldn't be done?
Open as default means that the first image is open by default rather than the album presenting the strip with no image open.

Oh? maybe 'Open as Default' wasn't the fix - you got it to work another way.
I don't know anymore...
Switching back to Vegas now shows a blank screen...
Oy Vay!
Forgot to clear Template Cache - that fixes stuff too!
When I change my presentation from Vegas SS to say, filmstrip, there is no change.
Why is that?
Solved:
So not only do you have to select something other than Vegas SS, but you ALSO have to select 'Open as Default',
Should this really be called 'Initiate the Change'? Because that's what it appears to do.
'Open As Default' Why this terminology?
ok, even though that's counter-intuitive, I now have a menu button on mobiles.

This program seems great for a basic setup, especially with the video tutorial, but as soon as you start to customize, things can get tricky.
Is it possible to put up a sticky of common problems and work arounds? I find searching for answers on the forum can be very counter productive.
For eg. I had posted a 'Publisher' problem that I was told was a GoDaddy problem. No work around was offered, only a suggestion to change host. I have done that and am waiting for the change over. But, meanwhile, I discovered that Publisher will continue to keep uploading where it left off, so, although it's not ideal, it's a work around. Since GoDaddy is a common hosting site, then that issue/work around could be posted in a sticky.
As you say in your video, it's easier to just 'jump in' and start playing with stuff, than explaining how to do things. But please consider a sticky of the common 'gotchyas' you have seen on these forums to help us newbies cut our teeth.
This is a huge step forward for website design with minimal LR interference, so for that, I'm grateful.
Cheers!
