Hi Rick, we've just released a fix for this. Please visit Backlight Modules and upgrade Pangolin Album to version 2.0.13.
When I get to the end of the first page of results though, I click on the last image and am presented with a "play" button. I press that and am taken to the backlight login page instead of the next results page.
Hi Chumby, we've just released a fix for this. Please visit Backlight Modules and upgrade Pangolin Album to version 2.0.13.
Hi Rick, the next page button on 'all photos' is a bug. We're working on a fix.
Yesterday was a public holiday, so please don't expect a rapid response on a day like that. And I did get back to you but you had already moved the site you had asked me to look at.
I'm glad you've got it working. The fix was probably simpler, if you had waited for me to get back to you.
Do you still have the old site that wasn't working? The template designs can be exported then re-imported, saving some time.
As Rod said, the 'galleries' directory is part of the installed files when unzipping the Installer.
If creating other top-level galleries, Backlight should tell you if it wasn't able to create the directory itself. In that case, the directory needs to be created manually.
It has been a very long time since this has come up.
Can you share your actual site, and what you have as your API URL? By email if by chance it's confidential.
Hi Andre, you have the wrong certificate installed. The certificate at arborysta.info is actually for panskieoko.com. Is that a mistake you may have made, or something your host has done? In any case, the correct certification for arborysta.info needs to be installed on your site, through whatever mechanism your host provides for doing so.
Hi Andre, what’s the URL?
Hi Neville, that’s helpful. The error you’re seeing is at your host m, not Google. Since they’ve said they can open specific ports I would ask your host to open port 465 for smtp.google.com
It’s surprising that they are recommending smtp over mail. Usually you’d be able to use your info@ address with the ‘mail’ option.
Hi Neville, web hosts don't usually let you send email through SMTP. That requires a direct connection from your server to the mail server. In your case it's been blocked by your host. You may have some luck in getting them to open the access (port 465 to smtp.gmail.com) but even then, Google, as your mail host, may not allow that method.
The fix for the second part is to enable 'less secure apps' to send email. This should be found somewhere in your mail settings, if it is available. Enabling 'less secure apps' sounds dangerous, but the app that you're enabling is your own website. You're essentially telling Google that you trust yourself.
The option for 'mail' should be much less problematic. The main issue there is that incoming mail servers don't trust that you're sending from the site that matches your email address. On Bluehost, and presumably other hosts, that can be fixed by creating an email account in your host's control panel that matches the sender email you're using. With that information, the host then sets the correct fields when sending email on your behalf, and email gets through to the recipient's inbox instead of being marked as spam.
This approach requires you to have an email address on the domain you have hosting for.
I suppose the same answer when Backlight 3 arrives...
As Rod said, Backlight 3 also uses Pangolin and will be a seamless upgrade from Backlight 2. I suggest you re-read Matt's newsletter where he discusses a number of points.
Hi Neville, clearing cookies is the brute-force way of logging you out. This requirement to log out wasn't intended, but was instead the result of a bug in the way updates are propagated through the current session. I thought I had fixed it. Are you running the latest version of BL2? You can check for updates in the Backlight > List Modules page.
Matt's suggestion will copy everything cart-related, which would mean you could lose order details if there were orders on the site you're copying files to.
You should be able to copy over just the cart settings files by copying the one file backlight/data/cart/master.sq3. Whatever your approach, make sure to first make a copy of the files that you're overwriting.
Can you ask your host whether the server can communicate to https://get.theturninggate.net/ and to allow access if it doesn't already.
If that doesn't help, then please provide me with FTP access via email so that I can look further into it.
We will be working on a fix for the step button going to admin. There are no plans to fix the behaviour of single pages on search results. It would require a major reworking. We instead recommend using a slideshow. Bear in mind that the search results are not intended to be used as an album. It’s purely to help your users find pictures.
Hi Bill, is there an error message coming up?
Hi Jeanne, that’s a bug that we need to fix. The link should be going to /?page=2 and not /index.php?page=2
Hi Kyle, it looks like your host is missing the 'fileinfo' php module. This should be standard with an install. Can you verify this by logging into your Backlight admin, clicking 'View PHP Info' on the main page and looking for a section titled 'fileinfo'?
If it's not there, please contact your host's technical support to add or enable it.
Hi Scott, that looks very much like your site has been hacked. If the files keep reappearing then the vulnerability is still there.
Do you run Wordpress anywhere on your server? That's a very common entry point for hackers.
Can you provide me with FTP access via email, so that I can see if there's anything obvious that needs removing or fixing?
I'd be keen on seeing one of the ico files. They probably can't be emailed though, since Gmail will flag them as malicious.
Hi Eckart, thanks for the access. I found you had three languages with the following ISO Language Codes:
English - en
German - en
Deutsch - de
I assume that "German - en" is redundant. For now I've changed the code to 'fr' just so that the error goes away. Can you go into your Backlight and delete that language if it's not needed, or otherwise edit the German and Deutsch languages so that the ISO Language Codes don't clash?
That looks like somehow your site has two languages with ‘DE’ as the code. Can you please email me a Backlight admin login so that I can look into this and clean up any potential issue in the database?
Hi Oliver, I've released the update that addresses this. Please visit Backlight Modules and update. Can you let me know if this solves it it for you.
I hope to get it in today. I’ll put a comment in here and we’ll likely have a blog post.
Hi Chumby, I wonder if PayPal didn’t respond with a payment complete status. Can you share a Backlight admin login by email so I can have a look?
Hi Chumby are you using the PayPal Sandbox or the live version?
