Is there a way of putting a logout button on a managed or unmanged album

#128 Re: Backlight Support » CRG Feedback issues » 2016-08-27 17:10:34

I can see the advantage of saving the feedback and adding to to it. However when I started reviewing my workflow and applying past experience I came up with two possible problems. First Archiving (we should have an email, but i would prefer a copy in the clients folder) Second is identifying changes that the client has made between their feedback sessions. With individual feedback saved you can record actioned requests and none actions requests for that feedback. To overcome my issues and makes sure I maintain an archive and actioned record, only ever had one stroppy client but this type of documentation was esential, a way of exporting the feedback would be very handy. Hence my wish list of CSV export.

PS please do not drop support for CE4 even though backlight is far superior to CE4 when it comes to publishing CE4 is still the best product I have come across for producing stand alone Albums

Thank you, the unmanaged method just feels a little impersonal for wedding shots etc.

As an aside, I missed understanding the managed and unmanaged options until i was pointed in the right direction for your document on the subject. I went looking for others under documentation and could not find them, until i clicked on site map. I shall now look at these before posting. It may be useful if these were a little more obvious.

#130 Re: Backlight Support » CRG Feedback issues » 2016-08-26 00:16:53

Having being trying for two days with both SMTP and Mail as options i am now getting emails, no idea what has changed me or my host.

I had it set to managed. When set to unmanaged with Publisher password it does what i want but unfortunately keeps asking for contact details. which is why i set it to managed as the client is the one with access only. So i really need the multiple feedback of the UnManaged with the access control of the managed.

I am also confused with the document you referenced "Once a client has submitted feedback on a manged album, feedback on that album will be closed and the client will not be able to submit additional feedback 2" feedback on the album was not closed so feedback overwrote previous. I checked settings and one i think is responsible is Post Submission Actions which was set to Do Nothing. I have tried the others and they do as expected (my preferred is Clear Feedback in Browser) however this allows existing feed back to be overwritten. So do the close options after i have re opened the feedback.

So I am a little confused as to the working of this.

#131 Re: Backlight Support » CRG Feedback issues » 2016-08-25 23:27:00

Just looked at the demo option tooltip and it says its sends both emails to the clients email.

What i am really after is an email being sent to me when a client provides feedback.

#132 Re: Backlight Support » CRG Feedback issues » 2016-08-25 23:22:40

So do i read this to say that I cannot use a clients existing email address. and if i wanted them to read the email i would have to send them email Host URL and login details. If so by setting it to demo would only i get emails which to be truthful is all i want.

So not sure what you mean by managed and unmanaged

When I first installed CRG plugin I gave it a quick try and it appeared to work even sending me an email. To my 1&1 account on a 1&1 hosted web site and email server.

I have an upcoming wedding where the clients will be returning home, abroad so I thought the best way to communicate regarding image selection etc. would be via CRG so I looked at fully customising CRG especially the Feedback profile and have run into two major issues.

First the email has stopped working no email to me or my pretend client ( my none 1&1 secondary email) I have looked into this a little and will try some more before I take it further unless you have suggestions.

Second when I send feedback it overwrites the first feedback so only ever has the last feedback, but that is sometimes confused. As I may be adding or changing images, one of the advantages of published services; or I may ask them to re-choose images for one or more reasons. I would like each feedback to be listed separately.

Is something not working or does it not work how I need.

Wish list – be able to output feedback as a csv file for analysis in a spreadsheet /database.

#134 Re: Backlight Support » Client response feedback question » 2016-08-25 18:13:33

Thanks found it, however changing it via the page make the rest of the text difficult to read as the only place i found to change the colour changed both, which is a bit confusing as the option boxes are white yet the background is dark. I finally changed it with custom css
/* CRG Customisation*/
.crg-options {
    color: #212121
}

#135 Re: Backlight Support » Client response feedback question » 2016-08-25 01:22:39

I have the same problem but cannot find where to change the colour. nor do I have Backlight > Client Response > Settings > Personalisation I don't have Personalisation in the dropdown. I know what page template is being used but not what option refers to the Option 1, 2 etc text

#136 Re: Backlight Support » Developing a backlight workflow and issues of the single catalogue » 2016-07-04 16:01:30

I understand that it is really a Lightroom issue and have raised it in the past with Adobe, no responce. Like you i have used Lightroom since V1, and like you often begrudgingly. The issue I am trying to get my head around is not having an unmanageable number of albums in  the backlight published service especially when they may only be active for a few months but the album needs to be online for viewing etc. I came across this problem with Catalogues and catalogue sets in the past (still not got a satisfactory solution) but then having an extra album or two for each Catalogue set increases the scrolling and hunting.

I know i am just thinking a ahead at the moment to a situation / problem i would like to be in as this means work coming in. So i suppose really all I am after is backlight based thoughts, ideas and suggestions.

Although in every way bar the single catalogue problem, I think that backlight is much better easier and quicker than CE4. (ignoring missing features that could come later).
However, I can see this single catalogue issue becoming a big limitation in its use for a photoshoot photographer especially when using the Client Response Add-In for approval.

To explain my thoughts two scenarios
1. Wedding photoshoots where you publish 200+ images for approval and also for the client to share with friend that may not be able to attend the wedding itself (maybe two albums per client, approval and view by friends). Assuming you leave them on the site for 12 months and you are very lucky with a wedding every week so 50 a year that is a lot of published albums. I cannot see anyway way of archiving the album then removing from the published section of Lightroom. This was possible with CE3 and 4 by just exporting the web pages etc. and uploading manually.

2. Photoshoots that are of different styles i.e. wedding, children, baptisms, proms and others. To help manage these using different catalogues would help and keep them easy to manage. This could be even worse if the first scenario applied to the other styles of photography. Currently I have 5 catalogues
a. Wildlife (using published services) separate sub domain
b. Family and friends (usually a one off upload to using CE4 templates) separate sub domain
c. Weddings (one or two corrected uploads to using CE4 templates) main site
d Special photoshoots (one or two corrected uploads to using CE4 templates) main site
e. Proms and other work events (usually a one off upload to using CE4 templates) main site

I am only an amateur photographer when it comes to this side of photography so the current quantity is low, but during the last few years I have had to consider the above situations and have as a result only used TTG and published services with my wildlife photograph. Most of the time I just export from CE4 upload using Dreamweaver or FileZilla

These are just thoughts as I want to develop my photography in the future and I would like to hope I run across these problems. I want to use backlight but I am currently looking at how to setup a practical workflow that uses it.

#139 Re: Backlight Support » Clone a Backlight setup » 2016-06-22 23:17:37

solved permissions issue and redo the api key in the newly created Publisher db

#140 Re: Backlight Support » Clone a Backlight setup » 2016-06-22 23:02:01

I have also done the same thing with my site no problems. What i want to do is clone the backlight configuration without galleries so I can create another publish service in another Lightroom catalogue for use in another sub domain.

Other than minor changes both website have the same look and feel so i don't really want to create from scratch

#141 Re: Backlight Support » Clone a Backlight setup » 2016-06-22 17:57:17

Did not work. I logged on to backlight admin and received an error script that mentioned the old url often

I have just been testing my site on different size browser windows on different browsers and have found that on both my Win 10 machines and MSIE 11, it is not responsive below the menu bar or that it extends to far to the right and off the window.

It is ok on MS Edge, safari and Chrome mac/windows

Now that I have the basic configuration I want to clone my site without any galleries then incorporate it into another SubDomain.

This subdomain will be linked to another Lightroom catalogue, and will use many more client based galleries etc.

Is this easily possible?

Thanks, yes still have a few things to do. Missed the file size, one of the problems of designing and testing locally

This site is close to finished, for me the final version will not have a client side section that will be used on my main site not this sub domain.

Login is test@test.com password test

Any comments mutely appreciated

#147 Re: Backlight Support » Uploaded images » 2016-06-15 16:02:59

Thanks the file had not been transferred. My working folder on my mac is in my One Drive folder. As a safety I have a copy on my Windows Machine that i manually make a copy to the active web folder on this machine. ie OneDrive syncs between machines, but i manually make a copy to test / short term backup. Anyway i found that one of the files in the upload folder was not syncing. when i looked at the permissions of the three files the none syncing one was different. As these files are created by Backlight Upload i would have expected the permissions to be the same. see screen shot

I have my test site close to complete and I am happy with the result, As I learn the what's and more specially the where's of things I am very happy with the new backlight concept.

So I copied my site in full to a new machine this time running windows 10 and IIS. Everything works fine except the banner images that where uploaded. They were both missing ( I have two album page templates for tall and short banner.) I changed the site url in backlight settings and one came back but not the other. Many resets later still missing, Any ideas?

Also where are the images saved so that if I decide to modify one slightly I could just change the image without uploading via Backlight.

Ignore poor English the cat decided it was being ignored so sat on the keyboard, to help!!!!

#149 Re: Backlight Support » Client Response Gallery Selection and feedback not responding » 2016-06-14 19:46:30
