#101 Backlight Support » Duplicate gallery links » 2016-09-21 15:35:02

OK, so just when I thought I was getting my gallery in order I found an issue where I have duplicate gallery links for two galleries - PC Builds, and Versions.  One set of links is active and goes to the gallery, the other set of links are dead and gives me a URL of http://www.exposedvisions.com/galleries// (note the double forward slashes).

I can't seem to get rid of this. What's going on?

Here's my galleries page: http://www.exposedvisions.com/galleries/

#103 Re: Backlight Support » Getting image (title) names to display? » 2016-09-20 08:07:57

Do I have to have BOTH caption and title?  Will give that a try and see what happens. Thanks

And yes, I am editing the correct template.

Edit: FINALLY!!!  Yes, adding the caption in the meta data in LR fixed it.

Now I just need to know how to center the text and edit the font.

Thanks.

OK, I thought I had it. Still must be missing something because I can get info to show on thumbnails with moussing over them here: http://www.exposedvisions.com/galleries/pc-builds/

but they still are not showing on large page screen i.e. here... http://www.exposedvisions.com/galleries … id=1&pid=1

Again... what am I missing??? Do I need a custom file or something?

Thank you.

And not to be dense, but I'm a little confused on the tokens stuff. Can you give an quick example?

Thanks again.

Perhaps I’m missing some obvious setting or something but I can’t seem to get my image names to display in photoswipe (large image area). What am I missing?

Also can I edit the names there (wherever there is)?

Thanks.

#108 Re: Backlight Support » Controlling Image Height in Flickety Slider » 2016-09-18 08:03:00

I'm not sure this answers your question, especially since you're dealing with flickety in theatre, but you might check out this thread... http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=6779. Helped me with my theatre issues, even though I ended up with Daniel's solution.

Good luck.

#109 Re: Backlight Support » How to add image or slide show to home page? » 2016-09-17 09:20:29

Yeah that works, but the issue is it crops the top and bottom of my image, whereas Daniels solution doesn't.

I think is the code that makes Daniel's work better for me...

div#slideshow {
    max-width: 800px;
    margin-right: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
}

var ratio = 2/3; // image area aspect ratio

The issue is when I edit my images, I do so without regards to size... i.e. I create my images for a look, not to fit a standard size. Thus I may have images of varying sizes, no matter how subtle.  In this instance Daniel's original solution works better. Drop shadows just fit perfectly around my images.

I tried tinkering with aspect ratio under Vegas slideshow but can't seem to get it right. Something like auto size or auto fit would be perfect here.

Thanks for the help and suggestions though, as I now have options.

Thanks.

maybe we're thinking of different effects, I was assuming it was about the drop-shadows. It thought the question was in reference to this page: http://stage.danielleu.com/slideshow.php
you're getting drop shadows in Theater?

It was actually in reference to this site: http://www.sweetlightgallery.com/, as asked here: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 276#p41276

But Daniel's page works too.  Anyway I got it figured out: http://www.exposedvisions.com. Site isn't finished, but that's the slide show style I was after.  I can't seem to get that with Theatre.

Thanks.

Yeah, I know you yourself aren't selling it, Matthew is.

Anyway it's kind of hard to complain now, being there was fair warning. However, had I known it wasn't able to do what I needed at the time, I would have surely waited.

At any rate I await to see how it matures; and the fact that it's able to embed video clips is a nice feature I may use in the future.

And I may voice my opinions, but I do appreciate the work you guys do, and the speedy responses provided. Nice job.

Thanks.

Yeah I see. I bought Theatre for this type of design purpose, but as you said, it can't be done; thus Daniel's solution works beautifully for me. At this point in time I'll have to shelve theatre.  I'm a bit bemused why you'd sell it at this stage. But than again, I bought it so...

Anyway thanks for the feedback.  You guys are a great help here.

#113 Re: Backlight Support » How to add image or slide show to home page? » 2016-09-16 15:12:26

Actually I just loaded more; however, the issue is it works, but if I click another link on the page and go back, it breaks, and does what I described in the earlier post.

Anyway how do I use theatre to get your effects. I tried theatre, but couldn't get it setup like yours.

Edit: I found my issue. It seems to be a link issue with the "Home" page. If I click "Home" I get the above issue. If I click the root link (exposedvisions.com) everything works fine.  Need to fix my "Home" link.

Thanks.

Got my slideshow implementation documented. The example is over on my site at http://stage.danielleu.com/slideshow.php and the setup instructions are over on my blog.

It is easy to do and I am happy with the result.

OK, I am obviously missing something because this isn't working for me, despite following your instructions to the letter (I think).

Anyway all I get is a small black box on the upper left side of my home page with an X in it.... www.exposedvisions.com

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Yeah, the information I'm looking for is in that thread.

Thanks smile

Hi Ken, your site looks great, and love the images. Great photography.

With that, I would like to know how you got the Home page slide show working to include the boarder and drop shadows. I love the way it looks and would like to use it for my site. I too am using Backlight, + Pages, + Theatre.

Anyway if you, or someone here, can show me how to set that up on my site, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks.

#117 Re: Backlight Showcase » Work in progress and a learning experience » 2016-09-14 00:50:28

Thank you. Will give it a try. Still have more questions, but will post when needed.

Edit: Yeah, I see the warning by Matt about photoswipe. I don't know...

Edit 2: Borders is working just fine for me in photoswipe. Even shows up on my cell phone.

Thanks.

It does require some additional coding and digging through the missing manual

Sorry but I have to agree with pwpphoto on the additional coding, as well as the somewhat vague manual for Backlight.

- How do you add a background image?

- How do I create a boarder around my images in galleries? Specifically the large image page.

- How do I edit the existing CSS? Or how/where do I use/install a custom CSS file, or add code to the existing CSS file?

Don't get me wrong, I like the way Backlight works, specifically the speed at which changes are applied. But coming from CE3, I thought it had way better customization and options.  Seems to me if you want some of the features I asked about, you need to do custom coding.

Just my quick observations of Backlight. BTW I bought Backlight + Pages, plus Theatre.

Anyway I'm still trying to learn Backlight, but I do miss the amount of customization CE3 had without additional coding. That said I will be asking lots of questions until I get my head wrapped around Backlights customization features.

Thanks.
