#101 Backlight 2 Support » Search Strings » 2020-02-15 20:44:04

Hi there,

Just wondering about searching with " " (exact phrases).

On my site I search for "West Coast" and I am returned results for "North West Coast".

Shouldn't these be excluded?  And should I only get images returned with meta data equalling "West Coast" ?

Or am I understanding this incorrectly?

Cheers,
Chumby.

Ok, thanks Rod.

Will update that shortly - hopefully Ben or Matt can have a look at the behaviour before I make the change.

Hi guys,

This is weird...

I have switched to slideshow now and I can click through the images as per the link below.

When I get to the end of the first page of results though, I click on the last image and am presented with a "play" button.  I press that and am taken to the backlight login page instead of the next results page.  Am using Chrome.

http://www.tasmanianphotos.com/backligh … t+coast%22

and the strange click through URL at:

http://www.tasmanianphotos.com/backligh … gallery-26

Any ideas on this one?

Cheers

Ok, thanks good to know Daniel.

Can you still add the cart option to images in the slideshow?

Cheers,
Chumby

#106 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Clicking through search results » 2020-02-11 07:38:53

Ok thanks Rod can look into that.

If I went with a slideshow though, wouldn't I loose the SEO benefit (url) of the single image?  eg

http://www.tasmanianphotos.com/tasmania … single.php

My understanding was that the single image options was built so there were single URLs where people/spiders etc could be directed/indexed?

Hi all,

On entering a search in BKL2 I am returned a number of images which works well.

I click on the first image and that takes me to a single-image page (which is what I want), but then when I click the next icon, it doesn't take me to the next image returned in the search, but other images.

How can I change the behaviour so I click through the search results only?

Appreciate your help.

Hi rod,

Got it working with a meta html tag as below in the main copy of the home page.

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=http://www.tasmanianphotos.com/tasmania/stock/images">

Thanks again,
Chumby

#109 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Not limiting images in Album » 2020-02-09 05:50:52

Yea ok Rod.  That makes sense.

I wonder if Nico's .htaccess code (http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=9903) from https://phototheque.nicolaslogerot.com will do the trick and bring the number of files showing per page across.  I might just have another look at that.

Do you know of any other work arounds, Rod?

Thanks for your help as always.

Cheers,
Chumby

Hi there,

I have instered an Album onto my home page and set the number of images to show to 25.

For some reason, ALL the images in the album are showing on the front page not just 25. I must be doing something wrong, but just can't seem to find out where.

The site is: http://www.tasmanianphotos.com

Any ideas?

Hi Matthew

Thanks for the clarification there - no worries.

As an alternative, can they (like and feedback buttons) be included on the single page image view after a click through from the gallery?

Cheers,
Chumby

Hi there,

I have enabled a Client Response on my top level gallery located on my index page - http://www.tasmanianphotos.com

The icons are appearing fine, but I don't seem to be able to click on them to do anything.

I have enabled the ad-on as far as I can tell.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chumby

#115 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 12:50:24

Hi Ben,

Yes at the moment I am via FTP.

In my alblum folder I can see via ftp the folders: custom_thumbnails, master, photos, thumbnails as well as some other files.  When I ftp into the "master" folder here I can see the original images that I upload via the web publisher.  My thinking was that if I replaced these images (delete these and ftp in new ones) I could replace the original non water marked images with watermarked images that would now appear on the single page view.  The files names would be the same... so I presumed there would be no difference.

Am I wrong in doing this?

#116 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 12:17:29

Thanks Ben.

Inserting one album on as an index page. Thumbnails displayed here with no watermarks.  Then click through to single page image which is watermarked.  Eventually clients will be able to download a version of this image without the watermarks - as well as a smaller image and larger image.

So from PhotoMechanic I am have open -

Master Catalog - Uncompressed Tiff Files

then 4 exports to the folders:

-1.  Small jpeg - <11mb) - 600px edge
-2.  Medium jpeg (<2mb) jpeg - 1200px edge
-3.  Medium jpeg (<2mb) jpeg - 1200px edge  (With Watermark to be displayed through Backlight)
-4.  Large jpeg - full resultion of photo.

I upload photos in folder 2 through publisher, which then creates the thumbnails for my index page.  I then delete these photos from Master (via ftp) and replace with photos from folder 3, so clients see the watermarked single page image.

Does that make sense?

Cheers

Hi Rod,

Yes I have, unsure about the "photos" folder within the album - not sure what to do there in this process.  Also was not getting a consistent single page scroll when I was scrolling through say a set of 6 images returned in a search.  Other images not in the search result were being shown as I clicked back ond forth.  Not sure f this is an indexing or caching thing though.

Hi there,

Just like to confirm my workflow for publishing photos without using lightroom.

1) Upload non watermarkered photos (<2mb) through the web publisher.  Unwatermarked thumbnails are now created.
2) FTP into the site and delete all the unwatermared files you just uploaded which are found in the "master" folder within the album
3) Load into this "Master Folder" via ftp now watermarked images with the same name as the originals that were uploaded.

So now I will have unwatermarked thumbnails to view as well as watermarked larger single page images?

Is that right or am I missing out on any part of the proceedure?

Thanks,
Chumby

#121 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Modified Search » 2020-01-27 15:34:25

Thanks for getting back to me Dan.

On the results return page there is some text appearing above the search box, called "The Search Intro".

The only reference to this text I can find is in the settings - languaes - manage languages, then publisher - search intro.

I try anc change this text but it always comes back up as the default string - "The Search Intro"

Have tried different browsers and clearning the chace but I am always still getting that text.

Think I am doing something wrong but I just can't find out what the issue is.

Does that help?

Cheers

#122 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Modified Search » 2020-01-27 13:28:57

Hi Dan,

Have been able to hide that text... but for some reason I am now having trouble with "The Searh info" text on the results page.

I have modified and deleteed it in the languages section (as well as clearing , but I cannot get it to change or disappear.

My site is www.tasmanianphotos.com - if you search "Carlton" a subset of images will appear from the homepage, and any other search will return you no images.  You should be able to see what is happening.

Cheers,
Chumby

Hi there,

Is there any way in which the search terms that people use in a backlight 2 install - search input field, can be collected for instance in a textfile or spreadsheet?

Would this be a Phplugins edit?

Any help appreciated,

Cheers
Chumby.
