#101 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Copy cart to another Website » 2020-04-07 10:46:39

I'm not 100% on this, but try going in the /backlight/data folder and copying the cart data to the second installation. Might work ... =/

#102 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Menu left - Footer top » 2020-04-06 05:14:09

Hm. The HTML FONT element is deprecated and should not be used. Try using SPAN and CSS instead. For example:

<span style="font-size: 14px;">Some text</span>
<span style="font-size: 12px;">Some slightly smaller text</span>

#103 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Clicking through search results » 2020-04-06 05:11:15

The "play button" is actually a "step-forward" button ... https://fontawesome.com/v4.7.0/icon/step-forward

In a normal gallery, it's meant to advance to the next page of the album. We're not in love with it, and I think with lazy-loading of thumbnails now being supported, it's not as necessary as it was when we introduced it. Something I'd like to cut from the application at some point, but that's tangential.

You should increase the items per page value for search. To do that, go to the Settings page. Scroll down to the Publisher section, and change the "Items Per Page" value.

#104 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Maps link in search results » 2020-04-06 05:01:41

I've made a note to look into it. Thanks.

#105 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Information on Theater Add-on » 2020-04-06 04:58:37

Yeah, sorry. Theater is a little bit of an odd duck. We mostly rely on the demos to show what it can do. A video is a good idea, and something I should do some time.

Galleria is strictly slideshow, and I think more robust and interesting. If you only need an inline slideshow, I think that's the way to go. And it can do full-screen as well.

If you need something other than the slideshow, then Theater does everything that Theater does. Browser through the demonstrations here:
http://theturninggate.net/galleries/01- … strations/

For each demo, the description will tell you what it is.

And anyone that's looking for that Galleria video, it's here:

#106 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Google Search Console » 2020-04-06 04:36:11

Hi Mike,

You've got some killer images of your travels. I've much enjoyed poking around your site.

I was not able to locate any video pages, though. To be fair, your site is huge. =P

If you can point me to a specific address, that would be helpful.

In digging around a bit on my own, it looks to me like the errors might be coming from YouTube's own video embed code. Funny that Google would be complaining about YouTube, but . If that's really the case, there's maybe nothing we can do about it. But it's something I will continue to keep an eye on and do what I'm able.

#107 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Full Screen Slideshow » 2020-04-06 04:28:38

In case you haven't seen it, we also have some documentation around creating full-screen templates:

#108 Re: CE4 Cart » Updating CE4 » 2020-04-06 04:25:17

Rod is correct.

At this point, we do not support CE4.

Also, the January update for Backlight 1 is the last update; we no longer support it.

Upgrading to Backlight 2 is absolutely the thing to do. Much is fixed, much is improved, and there's always more to come when you're on the latest.

#109 Re: Backlight 2 Support » German Umlaut Ä Ö Ü » 2020-03-23 13:45:40

I tried Google, but didn't see the issue in the results that came up. Like Daniel, I'm also not seeing any issue with the code above.

The site looks great, btw.

Can you point us to any place else we can observe the issue? Also, can you post a screen capture of the issue so that it's clearer what we should be looking for?

#110 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Google Search Console » 2020-03-23 13:39:13

Btw, what sort of page is it reporting these issues for? A gallery? A page? A page or album containing a video?

#111 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Google Search Console » 2020-03-23 13:37:30

FYI, a future version of Backlight will support meta descriptions for pages. The work is already done to support this, but I cannot yet say when the new version will be made available.

#112 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Using the backlight cart on CE4 templates? » 2020-03-23 13:33:04

If you do need to sell from CE4 galleries, I can make CE4 Cart available. I think you'd be better served to move those galleries into Backlight, though.

#113 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Warning message in Blogpost with WP-Plugin for BL2 » 2020-03-02 03:43:09

Can you send me FTP credentials for your server so that I can investigate?

#114 Re: Backlight 2 Support » IE: Album thumbnail not clicking through to larger pic » 2020-03-02 03:42:01

Console is clean. Near as I can tell, the click is being intercepted by DIV.thumbnail rather than by the A element that launches the slideshow, but I'm not seeing a reason for it. Our own galleries all work in IE11 without issue.

So for troubleshooting, you should start by disabling your customizations.

#115 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Warning message in Blogpost with WP-Plugin for BL2 » 2020-03-01 09:34:23

It's a function relating to our implementation of lazy-loading, but not directly related to lazy-loading itself. Rather, it's to do with PHP's loadHTML() function and with HTML5 tags being passed through it.

What version of PHP are you on?

#116 Re: Backlight 2 Support » New problem after upgrading to Blacklight 2 » 2020-02-09 15:02:31

And what's the code you're using for your PHPlugin?

#117 Re: Backlight 2 Support » New problem after upgrading to Blacklight 2 » 2020-02-09 08:29:22

Hi Jack,

Just some general advice, and things you make sure you're doing.

1. Use the "pangolin" PHPlugins sample file. You can edit this directly, but I would recommend that you duplicate it and edit that.

2. If copying PHPlugins from Backlight 1, you will need to make some change to the syntax for this to work. I believe Rod and Daniel have covered this above.

3. In your page template, please ensure you have enabled PHPlugins and selected the correct file for the template to use.

All of this seems simple, I know, but it's also easy to skip a step. Can you please confirm you've followed up on each of these items?

#118 Re: Backlight Support » Embedded YouTube videos not playing after switching to SSL site. » 2020-02-09 08:18:07

Hi Jack,

Glad to hear you are finding success with the upgrades. I think you will appreciate that from here, future updates and upgrades will be far simpler to accomplish. The update mechanism introduced in Backlight 2 is a tremendous boon in this regard.

I'll add a blurb to the Backlight 1 upgrade docs to mention that okapi modules do not carry forward. Thanks.

#119 Re: Backlight Support » Embedded YouTube videos not playing after switching to SSL site. » 2020-02-07 11:13:04

If using Backlight 2 and the Theater Add-on, YouTube and Vimeo embeds should honor your protocol, whether http or https. Make sure your Backlight settings are correctly set, and refresh your template cache.

For Backlight 1, I can't recall; Backlight 2 definitely offers improvements when it comes to HTTPS support. As announced on our blog, Backlight 1 is end-of-life, and so we will not be patching it with additional HTTPS support. Here's that post, if you haven't yet seen it:
http://theturninggate.net/2020/01/29/ba … fe-update/

If you're going to be using SSL on your site, then you are well advised to upgrade to Backlight 2.

#120 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Client Response on Top Level Gallery » 2020-01-31 16:05:32

No. The client response gallery must use the slideshow.

#121 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Client Response on Top Level Gallery » 2020-01-31 14:29:54

Client response is not intended to be used as a home page presentation, and I'm not likely to put time into trying to make it work there. It's quite complicated, and embedded galleries are already complicated enough on their own.

#122 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Version of Backlight 2 » 2020-01-30 06:26:03

Hi Peter,

If you've yet to upgrade your existing site to Backlight 2, then you haven't experienced the easy update process yet. I include this video in every update announcement, so if you haven't done an update yet, or you haven't seen the video yet, please check it out:

#123 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Checkboxes stopped working » 2020-01-29 01:52:23

The add-ons for Backlight 2 require the use of the Pangolin templates, and are not compatible with Okapi. Okapi is made available only to those upgrading from Backlight 1, with the intention that it should be used as a stepping stone for transitioning into the Pangolin templates, which is where you will be benefitting most from all the work and improvements that have gone into Backlight 2.

#124 Re: Backlight 2 Support » {"has_backlight":true} ERROR Message » 2020-01-26 15:45:31

You're all set now, and the DNS issue is hopefully solved for all.
