Yeah, that's what I did (re-downloaded my files) and 104 Release 3 was there. We usually get a notification (email) when a new release is out. Got them in the past, got one for Theatre, didn't get one for this.

Anyway I did the update.

Thanks.

I'm not seeing the init script in your page's source code. Are you using the most recent version of Backlight, 1.0.4 Release 3?

I'm not sure if you're asking me or the OP, but for me yeah.

Edit: How would we know if we have Release 3? All the dashboard panel says is 1.0.4

#78 Re: Backlight Support » Theater 104 producing empty slideshow » 2016-09-29 12:12:34

Yeah I just checked there. It does have the / slash shown at the end of the word so...

Anyway I'll bow out as not to hijack the OP's thread.

Thanks.

not sure why the / on your site is making a difference. I didn't think it should. But it might have something to do with the page url settings in Backlight Settings.

Yeah, that's why I say it "might" be an error on my end. Anyway to check? What am I looking for?

At any rate I'm just using the root URL (.com) as my "home" page and it works for me. Don't really need a "home" page at this point.

As to the OP's issue, I just thought I'd bring it up since the issue still persists.

Thanks.

#80 Re: Backlight Support » Theater 104 producing empty slideshow » 2016-09-29 07:54:34

There "might" be an issue here: home/ (that forward slash after "home")

I had a similar issue here: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 301#p41301

Anyway if I used (or it came up as) www.exposedvisions.com/home/ I would get a blank page.

However if I used www.exposedvisions.com/home (without the forward slash at the end), or just .com without "home", I got my page with all its images.

Now I'm not using Theatre, I'm using a fix Daniel Leu posted . BUT... that last forward slash after "home" was causing me issues. Why is the question Rod should be able to answer.  It's probably a messed up setting on my part, but...

Anyway perhaps the OP can look at that as well. Just a thought.

I wasn't criticizing "Go Daddy" per se, just making a "general" comment; which is why I also never mentioned the host I'm using.

Thanks

That said, does the OP even have the .htaccess file installed.

Perhaps the htaccess file isn't installed?

An update in case anyone is interested.  I spent some time with Godaddy on Saturday.  We found that my PHP version was way outdated and they updated that.  The also extended the length of time that it would allow updates.  When I left home this morning I was uploading about 10 images that I could not upload previously but I'm still getting the timeout issue and in fact it seems worse.

I am not on the cPanel version of their web hosting and my next step will be to get my site migrated over.

This is a general statement and not an attack on any one particular person or persons, but this is a good example for figuring out what you need when building a website, and what a hosting site is offering for said services. Sometimes cheap (cost wise) is for a reason.  Most places entice you with their lowest cost services but will leave out the finer details of what's not included. Then suddenly you find the services you paid for are severely limiting.

If you're building a site with lots of bells & whistles you probably shouldn't buy "basic" from a hosting service. On the other hand if you do have basic, seriously consider moving up a rung... or two.

My two cents.

my laptop still has IE11 and I checked there. I see the problem getting triggered. A page refresh cleared it.

Thank you!

Yes, that is the issue; and though a page refresh clears it, it's still a repeatable issue.  Just something to be aware of.  And while you and I now know about it, it could be an issue for visitors to the site.

Thanks.

#85 Re: Backlight Support » Web site issue - exposedvisions.com » 2016-09-26 22:45:05

Well it's definitely a confirmable issue under IE11 here. I can repeat the issue time and time again.  But NO, the issue does NOT happen in Edge at my end as well.

The issue also happens on my laptop as well, so we're talking two different machines. At any rate I'm just pointing out an issue between Search and IE11.

How to cause it:

Click Search, then scroll to Galleries without clicking anything, and the resize will occur.

Peace smile

#86 Re: Backlight Support » Web site issue - exposedvisions.com » 2016-09-26 22:26:03

I can confirm every time I hit the "Search" link and move to another link the issue occurs. Works like clockwork here. This under IE11, Windows 10.  It only happens with the "search" link.

rod barbee wrote:

the site looks fine. Are you referring to the width of the content? If so, change that in the page template under Page Layout

I'm not trying to be funny, but I don't think your reading my post. The Galleries page should look like this....

Galleries%20page.PNG

Not this...
ev-issue.PNG

This issue is the site randomly resorts to the above issue when running through the gambit of links. NOTICE the text is gone, as well as the thumbnail images. Also notice the site has "resized". That's the issue!

It doesn't happen all the time, but IT DOES randomly happen.  So yeah, it's not surprising you wouldn't see it running through the site once.

Hope I'm clearer.

Thanks.

Your CSS is a little messy. the selectors "home" and "main" are separated from their children by comments. I don't think it effects functionality, but it makes it hard to read and therefore to troubleshoot if needed.

Well since my coding is a little rusty, can you clarify? - "home" and "main" are separated from their children by comments.

Do I remove the comments? Do I combine things? Should everything be in main, body?

It's why I asked my code to be examined.

rod barbee wrote:

It's impossible to tell without actually seeing it happen. Can you link to a page that has this problem rather than just a screen shot of the problem?

By the way, you can include screen shots in forum posts. Just put the URL to the image between img tags:

[img]url to image[/img]

As I said it's the whole site. That's what the image was. It is not a "specific page"

And it happens randomly. It also clears when clicking another link, or leaving the site; thus sending you a link when it happens will clear the issue.

I would suggest you check it yourself by clicking through the various links to see if it happens on your end. The issue usually happens when you run through all the top level links - from Home to Search. Once you hit search, hit Galleries, and the issue usually occurs then.  Again, the image you saw was that result.

Thanks.

Edit: Here's the image ev-issue.PNG

Here's the direct link: http://www.exposedvisions.com/Links/ev-issue.PNG Notice the address ends with Galleries.

Hello, finally got my site up and running but I'm running into a weird issue where the site will resize with noting showing but the site logo and a blank page as shown here: http://exposedvisions.com/galleries/pro … id=1&pid=1 Anyone know what's happening?

Also can someone check my custom CSS code for cleanliness, and/or that it's correctly written....

html,

/*Home page settings
====================================*/

body {
	background-image:url('../images/lgrey064.jpg');
	background-position:inherit
	 }

/*Drops down menu opacity
==============================================*/
.sub-menu {
	background-color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);
	}

.menu-item-has-children ul.sub-menu li {
    background-color:rgba(33, 33, 33, 0.6);
	}

main

/*Slideshow styling
======================*/
#slideshow img {
	border:1px solid black;
	box-shadow:4px 4px 8px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
	}

	/*Photosweep image area settings
====================================*/

	img.pswp__img {
	background: #ffffff;
	border:30px solid #ffffff;
    box-shadow:8px 8px 16px rgba(0,0,0,0.8);
    }

/*Photosweep large page background
====================================*/
  	.pswp__bg {
	background-image:url('../images/lgrey064.jpg');
	background-position:inherit
    }

/*Center caption under large image
================================================*/
.pswp__caption__center {
	text-align:center;
    font-size:1.2em;
    font-style:italic;
  }

It all seems to be working fine. Well everything seems to be working fine except for my odd issue. BTW this issue was popping up even before the custom CSS code, so....

Thanks

rod barbee wrote:

Publisher creates jpg so it doesn't matter what format the originals are.

Rayt, did you click the Publish button after creating the album.

So even though you're working with RAW files,publisher will create jpeg files out of them. That's cool because that allows you to publish directly from RAW files.  That said, as I thought, I didn't think publisher published the files as RAW.

And yeah... did the OP actually "publish" the albums?

#92 Re: Backlight Support » Album has no images » 2016-09-25 07:23:02

I too shot in RAW, but save them as tiff once edited, and create a jpeg copy for images posted  to my website or the internet.  Anyway I'm pretty sure Blacklight does not now allow for "RAW" files to be posted, but that's for admin to answer.

Anyway go to your hosting site where you placed your Backlight files and look for the Galleries folder - under there you should see the names of the albums you created in Publisher under Lightroom. Open one of the folders and look for a folder named "photos", if your images are in there, there's an issue elsewhere. If no images are there, then publisher aren't publishing the images. If you're still publishing RAW files, try jpeg.

#93 Re: Backlight Support » Album has no images » 2016-09-25 04:51:05

Why are you posting RAW files? I don't know what the default player reads but I doubt it reads RAW files. That said, try jpegs.

Also, did you put a name in the "Album Title" so it could create a slug name file for your images? This should have been done when you created your album. or album set under publisher. It would be under base settings.

Thanks Rod, I figured you'd be the one to know. Any I've got some time. My site is pretty much finished for now, just need to tidy up a few things but they won't be over night things.

Really appreciate your help and patience in helping me out.  A BIG THANKS!

Thanks.

Is there a way to change the opacity of the drop down menus so they don't completely block out an image?

Thanks.

Yeah that solved the issue.

And yes, "Backlight --> Publisher --> Top Level Galleries --> Galleries (Albums), is under the Backlight control panel.

Thanks that helped big time.

#100 Re: Backlight Support » Duplicate gallery links » 2016-09-22 02:57:37

I don't seem to have such a directory - "Backlight --> Publisher --> Top Level Galleries --> Galleries (Albums)

I have Backlight --> Publisher -->, there is no "Top Level Galleries" folder there.  I'm now assuming there should be one there, and how would I fix that???

Edit: I see you're talking about the Backlight Control Panel?
