#76 Re: CE4 Stage » basic question... need help » 2015-09-02 18:30:02

Hi again,

I discovered that https://www.dropbox.com/s/nwskgwjcr1idr … 3.CR2?dl=0 this picture is the root of the problem. I delete this picture and the gallery is playing. Can you see what's wrong with it? It's strange, all the other pictures of that event are playing: http://www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be/g … d-kuijken/

Thx for your feedback.
Steven

Hi Matthew,

I wanted to reply since i solved half the problem (aspect ratio was wrong 0*0 !). It's working indeed, however, i've lost my drop down menu when the gallery is playing... that's normal?
Cheers, Steven

Hi, me again... it doesn't go so wel with Stage...

http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … g_galleria
That's what i want to do. However... i'm struggling with the set up.
I completed most of the fields, and i did export the stage folder and uploaded it to ttg-be>templates>gallery.

I guess that's all there is to do... I made a new album via publisher and choose the stage folder i just uploaded. The result is:

- My dropdown menu disappears on that page
- No pictures showing up at all although i could do an upload.
See: http://stevenlefebrefotografie.be/galle … n-doopsel/ (i first want to let it work, afterwards i'l fine tune the lay out)

So please help me out to get this working. I'm probably doing something wrong and can't find it in the documentation.
Thank you in advance.
Steven

Hi,

Basic question, i can set a password for an album set, but not for an album, it's gray and i can not select it. How's that possible?

yes, delete them in the code.

            <li><a href="/contact.php">Contact</a></li>

If you deleted them from the code in the online version but then changed the local version and upload it, replacing the online version, that would explain them returning.

And so far so good, drop down works with the correct menu on top.

Next topic to study will be: sharing templates... http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _templates
Will it be difficult?

did you remember to enter the server path to phplugins?

for your site it should be:

/customers/d/3/e/stevenlefebrefotografie.be/httpd.www/phplugins

found by pinging the phplugins location here: http://www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be/p … s/path.php

http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _phplugins

Forgot to reply this post... Yes, i had something else. Never heard of pinging, glad you helped me out with that too.

Shall i delete them in the code?

<li><a href="/blog/">Blog</a></li>
            <li><a href="/services.php">Services</a></li>

Again, many thanks for your time and help! It's working :-)

But, strange enough, services and blog are back on top... any idea how to let it disappear again?

#86 Re: PHPlugins (CE4) » Does it make sense to enable php in lightroom even if i'll never useit » 2015-08-28 03:13:50

A bit strange to work within the code for me, but that's what i've done:
- installed text wrangler for mac and opened the phplugins.php file via FTP connection.
- then i deleted: DELETE THIS LINE */ and DELETE THIS LINE */ of the code // SITE-WIDE "DROP-DOWN" NAVIGATION MENU w/ AUTO INDEX DROP-MENU + I adapted the menu: <li><a href="/blog/">Blog</a></li>
            <li><a href="/services.php">Services</a></li>
            <li><a href="/info.php">Gear</a></li>
            <li><a href="/about.php">About</a></li>
            <li><a href="/contact.php">Contact</a></li>
- then i saved the file and went back to my website, but nothing happens...

I enabled php for pages, auto index and gallery, exported them and uploaded them on the server.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Rod,

Many thanks to convince me to do it. If you check my website you'll see that i've managed to make some subfolders, very easy within lightroom. However, to see these folders in a dropdown menu under galleries, would that be difficult to arrange?

Cheers,
Steven

Hi,

My site is running and i'm happy with it. I can show my pictures to the world and i'm happy with it although it is very basic (www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be).

Now, i read about php...
Be forewarned, however, that PHPlugins should be filed under Advanced Features. The feature is intended for use by web-designers, and assumes prerequisite knowledge of HTML and CSS, familiarity using an FTP client and text-editor to access and manipulate files on a web-server, and some small degree of comfort working with PHP script.

If the last paragraph makes you queasy feeling, then PHPlugins are not for you. There are limits to the amount of support I can provide on these features if you do not have the necessary background to make sense of them.

It's true, i'm getting glowing cheeks while reading this, i'll never be able to work out something with php as i have really no IT skills.
Now my question, should I enable php in lightroom knowing that i'll never use it and if yes, should i export and upload pages again or can i leave everything as it is?

Thanks for your answer!
Grtz,
Steven

rod barbee wrote:

In the Color Palette control pane you'll find areas for each page. Look for the Page Copy (md) fields
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … ntent_area

though you could upload all of the Pages export again, when you upload the changes, you only really need to upload the appropriate file from the fragments/ folder

for example: about-main.html for the main text and about-side.html if you've also included sidebar text

This was very useful and practical, though, I would like to learn which file i need to update on the server for the changes i make in lightroom. Is there somewhere documentation about this? For instance, if i change my media profiles, i have no clue which file from the pages export is responsible to make it happen.

Many thanks again,
Steven

Many thanks again Mr Barbee, it's working :-)

#93 Re: CE4 Pages » How to... » 2015-08-17 03:46:02

Many thanks for your fast reply.

On the other hand, i'm facing a new weird problem. There are two pictures i can't open, they upload via publisher and i see thumbnails, but i'm not able to open them (see www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be > galleries > persoonlijke favorieten: the last picture). What's going on? Adding other pictures isn't a problem at all :-( )

Could you help with this issue also?
Thanks!
Steven

... change text in pages?
Yes, this is probably very basic, but as I'm not an IT'er, i'm searching already hours or days how to change the text toward my website. I know how to do it in Lightroom, but I guess it isn't the purpose to copy the whole export folder to my server on top each time? (fragments, lib...) An example. My website: www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be Imagine i would like to change text in the about field, what is the easiest way to get that done?

I hope you understand my question, i got my website up thanks to a forum member of another photo group.

Many thanks in advance for your help.
