#76 Re: General » Need MetaData field 'itemPricing' link to other than Category » 2020-04-11 00:09:56

I am curious to know if you've received any news on that metadata issue. I also want to add metadata, but in the theater module so I can have a caption of sorts under or over a vido clip.

It is now...that was the problem in LR. But since I've started publishing with Backlight, I might as well carry on don't you think?
And thanks for solving that LR issue. I now know I can fall back on LR if need be.

API

Changed the API Key, just to make sure.

But, the good news is that I'm making headway on the Album Set/Albums front. Following your guidance, I created these with Backlight and they look ok. Thumbnails are still gigantic, but I should be able to edit that (famous last words).
After completing the ten video albums, I'll do the Contact page...

'Till then, happy trails to you...

Having a really hard time with creating an album set directly in Backlight.
So, I am reverting to do it in Lightroom, as I am used to this method. Also, can't find where to indicate the video ID in Backlight.
Now, it's Lightroom that won't recognize the API! The URL is https://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/backlight/data/publisher/  and I set a four-digit Key. I get an error message "Error performing function. (Code: 403)"

#80 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-10 01:36:02

Now, the same CSS in all templates. It's a start...
Got the Main page to link to the PRODUCTIONS (Gallery set) page and back to Main (Portal).
I now have published one album via Backlight. Thumbnail looks immense and doesn't lead anywhere.
Trying to figure out how to link to that Pangolin-theater (video) page.

The video clip is at http://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/videosrc/lie.mp4 but the thumbnail leads to http://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/galleries/histoire/ Seems to indicate that the structure on the server is wrong.

I have taken the liberty of including the file structure on my ftp client. See anything wrong?
ftp
Note that the thumbnail "histoire" is the thumbnail for the video "lie"

#81 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-10 00:49:25

those pages are using different page templates. The main page is using template-id-7 and the FR main page is using template-id-9

What I don't understand, among other things, is that I exported the template from the main page (pideja.ca/marco) and assigned it to the main page in the Fr version. And yet, they don't look the same and have different ID numbers.

The MENU issue seems resolved, partly. For now, it's a one-way street! The Productions and Contact links are off.

#82 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-09 23:23:31

As suggested, I linked the menu item Fr to the main page in pideja.ca/marco/Fr and assigned it the imported template ( marco - pages.txt) create for the portal pideja.ca/marco.

It doesn't look much like the portal but it's black and the footer is ok.
I created a menu set containing only ACCUEIL (Home), PRODUCTIONS (Galleries) and CV+CONTACT. But, this is not reflected on the page ??

Not too sure how to proceed from here: do I insert an album set or an album within the Home page? Basically, I'm trying to replicate (and improve) on this design: http://marccharlebois.com/marc_fr/galleries.php.

#83 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-09 07:55:17

OK so, I exported the main page template from pideja.ca/marco and imported it as the default template for the album template as well as the theatre module template hoping to keep the basic design of the opening page.

But when looking into  Publisher/Top-level galleries/Galleries, I see that the Galleries are using the default template and I can't change that.
I already created an empty album "Histoire à faire peur" but I can't see it on my ftp client and of course it won't show on the site.

#84 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-09 07:15:55

Can this be done without Lightroom?

#85 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Galleries & Videos » 2020-04-09 07:03:00

For the moment, only the French side is being populated. I copied all the video folder within the videosrc folder.
Then, I guess I should place all the album thumbnails in the galleries folder, no?

Last time I built a site like this was when Okapi was still around, so I'm a little rusted.

Rebuilding an old CE3 site to be inline with Backlight 2 standards.
The original site was bilingual (two sections) and had only three pages: Home, Gallery and Contact.
http://marccharlebois.com/
The HOME page has been rebuilt. Now, on to the GALLERIES page. On this page, I need to have thumbnails of the different video clips, with a brief description. Each thumbnail leads to the video clip proper.
As in the original site: http://marccharlebois.com/marc_en/galleries.php

I set up the navigation correctly (I think) but I get the dreaded 403 message! There is a Pangolin album module and a Pangolin theatre module installed.
I just can't seem to link from the home to the gallery.

Thanks, Rod

I'll be starting a new topic - Galleries & Videos to continue the rebuild of this site.

#88 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-09 02:08:31

Got rid of that pesky glitch by putting the SITE TITLE in black! Still can see that very fine, not-quite-black border around the image that serves as a Masthead-nameplate.

Also, is it possible that some settings, like margin or padding, are not quite the same in different browsers like Chrome and Firefox?

#89 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-09 01:53:31

Yet another glitch: when refreshing the page pideja.ca/marco  for the blink of a moment, I see the SITE TITLE on the left of where the image-masthead displays...

Looking all over for that setting.

UPDATE!

I only see this glitch in Firefox

#90 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-08 23:49:18

By the way, I suppose that the CSS I was using on the CE3 pages does not apply with the Backlight built pages...

#91 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-08 23:38:32

You are right: I did need to assign the template in the PAGES section. Thanks for the...well, you know.

#92 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-08 23:27:50

Yes. I started the design on a page template and named it
PAGES - marco and assigned it as the default template.

#93 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Upgrading sites » 2020-04-08 23:07:55

No, I'm building this from scratch, so the only home page should be the Backlight Pangolin page with some edits on it. Now I only see the basic home page.

Seems I need a kick start here...
Redesigning this old CE3 site. Installed the Backlight, Galleries, index.php and the .htaccess folders/files. I actually copied the .htaccess file from my main site. Could this be a problem?

I started designing the main PAGE (background colour, Montserrat typeface and navigation in the top pallet but nothing shows up.
What did I miss?

I suppose the same answer when Backlight 3 arrives...

I am at the start of an upgrade/redesign cycle for two sites:
http://marccharlebois.com/ witch is CE3 and http://www.nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com/ witch should be Backlight 2 but in the TEMPLATES section I see that OKAPI is listed as the module type.

I know, the CE3 site cannot be upgraded and will have to be re-built from the ground up.

But about that other one showing OKAPI type modules. Should it be updated? It indicates 2.0.14 as the version installed.

#97 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight 2.0.14 Update » 2020-03-20 03:33:28

Sorry for abusing the forum, Ben. It all started with the update problem over multiple sites I manage. Turns out one was CE3 and the other had that pesky code, mysteriously appearing in Lightroom Publisher.

I always try to remain on topic.

#99 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight 2.0.14 Update » 2020-03-19 00:58:16

FOUND IT!!! It was in Lightroom in the publisher, under Page Content. Why was it there? Anyway, I removed it. All is well...for now.

Thank you.

Something strange: in the animation template (called INTRODUCTION) the ALBUM COPY is empty. Yet, if I set it to below the gallery, the offending text goes to below the slideshow!
