Thanks. What is the best way to update from my existing templates?
Thanks, All.
I have no idea how I got the Search Blog button onto the search page while still using Okapi. It's certainly not anything I did intentionally. Will upgrading to Pangolin require a major css rejig if I want my site to look like it does now or is it completely backward compatible?
Thanks again,
bret
Prior to installing Relevanssi I was getting no search results when using the Backlight "Search Blog" for terms that I know existed in the blog.
After installing Relevanssi, which seems to work great directly from the blog itself, I get a 404 error when using the Backlight "Search Blog".
I'm using the latest versions of Blacklight, Wordpress and the Relevanssi. Any ideas?
Thanks,
bret
BTW, the missing orange "(NEW)" text after Panoramic Photos and Solargraphy in mobile mode is not the result of the menu width – I've made the menu wider. I'm not sure why it's not showing in the mobile layout. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I've jammed a span into the menu item to get the orange colour. This is what I've put into the menu box in backlight. Solargraphy <span class="BCP_new">(NEW)</span>
Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try.
I know about all of the !importants and will try to minimize but it is a bit of a challenge with a very stylie page and a lot of defaults.
My webiste is www.bretculp.com. Under "Portfolios" is "Slán Abhaile – IRELAND" There is a line break under which it should say "(Safe Home)"
The html code seems correct, see below. I've also tried it with <br />
<li class="menu-item"><a href="/gallery/020-ireland-photo-gallery/">Slán Abhaile – IRELAND<br>(Safe Home)</a></li>
Thanks
OK. I've updated to 1.2.2 and have the same problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you
Got it to work. One of the directories was inadvertently moved to the wrong folder.
Should I be able to upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.2.2 without going to the earlier versions? I just tried to do this and my site is now very broken.
When I go to my website I get the following message:
Backlight
Something went wrong
Unable to find index page.
Backlight

If I clear cache I get the following message (note that I removed the square bracket to in the text below to allow me to post):
DOMDocument::schemaValidate() generated Errors for /misc/36/328/452/530/1/user/web/bretculp.com/backlight/modules/standard-page/engine.xml

etc, etc
I remove and replaced the directories as instructed.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT replace the entire backlight directory! Doing so will remove ALL data and settings!
1. **Remove and re-upload the following files and directories:**
* backlight/config.php
* backlight/env.php.skel
* backlight/admin/
* backlight/designer/
* backlight/framework/
* backlight/publisher/
* backlight/modules/module-pages
* backlight/modules/okapi-core
2. **Upload the following new directories:**
* backlight/modules/pangolin-core/
* backlight/modules/pangolin-album/
* backlight/modules/pangolin-album-set/
* backlight/modules/pangolin-page/
Also, I just logged out and back in to Backlight admin and there is no HTML styling.
Please advise.
Thanks
A couple of more things. I should have said that I haven't yet upgraded to 1.2.
Also, when I inspect the item I see the following info for <ul class="sub-menu">
line-height: 24px;
body 1.5rem resource.php:479
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Rod. I'm just getting back to this now. My html source code seems correct so I suspect it's something in my custom css file. FYI, my Tray Column width(s) is 240px, Widgets Margin-top is 18px and Widgets Margin-bottom is 72px. Please let me know what you think.
Hi All,
Is it possible to use a <br /> or something similar in drop down menu item? Currently it seems to ignore the break and anything that comes after it.
Thanks
Hey Rod,
Interesting. It's still broken on my iPhone 6 with 10.3.2. What device are you viewing with?
Thanks for the update.
Hi All,
Do any of you know if the IOS 10.3 mobile issue has been addressed by Apple, or anybody else yet? What's the word on the street?
Thanks
Hello,
I updated my iPhone 6 to IOS 10.3.1 this afternoon. The large image presentation (Photoswipe) no longer works properly. When the phone is rotated to other orientation than was it was when Photoswipe launched the image(s) will be messed up. You will see a partial image and/or a second partial image. This is true if using Safari or Chrome. Here is a link to one of my galleries. www.bretculp.com/gallery/075-panoramic-photo-gallery/
Any ideas? Thanks.
UPDATE: I see there is some discussion about it here. https://github.com/dimsemenov/PhotoSwipe/issues/1315
I understand now. So I guess that means that there is no way to keep my mobile menu on the left side of my main site and my blog if my blog uses a right column layout. Correct?
I didn't fully realize the mobile menu was in a tray, although I was starting to suspect it based on the seemingly interchangeable use of the word menu and tray in this thread. I know understand the issue a bit more.
Still it would be very helpful to have a separate selector for "Columns Layout" and the mobile menu layout. Or at last a custom css option.
Thanks again.
So, because I've chosen a two column layout and selected right in order to put the widgets on the right side of my blog, it means I've designed the menu to be on the right as well? I don't understand why the menu must be tied to the column orientation. Shouldn't you be able to choose the menu side regardless of which column is on the left and which on the right? How is that bad design or unintuitive for a user if the menu is always in the same place.
Thanks
I tried the code and it didn't do what I was looking for. I don't want the actual menu, or the menu trigger, to ever be on the right side, always the left, no matter if I'm using my two column blog or my one column website. Is this possible?
Thanks, Rod.
I still don't understand why being tied to column two is good design and column one is not. But maybe I'm the only one.
I will try it, but why is the menu tied to column two? What am I missing or not understanding? BTW, I'm not using the slide out option so I never see the slide.
Maybe I didn't explain my question clearly.
My main website uses a one column layout. When on a mobile phone, for example, the mobile menu is on the left, which I like, per the image below.
Main Site mobile ref image
I have elected to use a two column layout for my blog with the main blog on the left and the 2nd column (widgets, etc) on the right (although not visible on my phone per the image below). For website continuity I would like the mobile menu to continue to be on the left side. Why does the menu have to be on the right side just because I have elected to position column two on the right side?
Mobile Blog ref image
I'm not sure why my question/request does not make sense.
Is there a reason we don't have that control?
Hello,
My main website uses a One Column layout but I'm using a separate template with a Two Column layout for my Wordpress blog. The problem I'm having is that on my main site the mobile menu is on the left side, which is what I want, but the blog mobile menu is on the right. I want the blog widgets to be on the right so I have selected Columns Layout to be right. I can't figure out how to keep that the same and have my mobile menu on the left so it matches the rest of my site.
Any ideas?
