Hello
The Full Screen icon goes missing when my photos are viewed individually in Chrome on my iPhone: https://www.piktour.uk/
I'm guessing this is an Apple quirk.....is that the case?
Is there a workaround or are we stuck with tiny images on iPhones?
Thanks
Hello
The photos on my Home page: https://www.piktour.uk/
and the ones used in Galleries > Impressions > Chile: https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/impressions/chile/
are exactly same except that the Home page ones have been reduced to 256k and the Impressions are 512k.
They both use the same Album Template: Album-Justified-1 Column
For some reason when viewing photos individually the Collapse Captions arrow shows up in Impressions but not in Home.
This is particularly annoying when viewing on an iPhone because the caption hides part of the image in landscape mode.
All the settings I have used appear to be exactly the same......can anyone help please.
Thanks
Hello Ben
Thanks for your response.
1) When I was speaking to Google we looked at Port 465 to smtp.gmail.com, they even got me to try a different port setting, they did not mention anything about it not being allowed.
2) We also applied the setting to enable 'Less Secure Apps' to no avail.
3) Yes we have domain email address info@piktour.uk
I have asked my webhosts for help, their response is here:
Any contact forms should use SMTP Authentication. For WordPress, plugin like WP Mail SMTP is best: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ - you can configure it to send out email using SMTP.
If the form is connecting to a remote mail server (like Gmail) we may also need to open up some ports on the firewall. I've added the piktour account to the smtp_allow list on the firewall.
I have downloaded the plug-in and loaded it on our Wordpress blog but I don't think it'll be of any use in Backlight. And I can't actually finish the setup in the blog as it's asking me to add stuff to my Google admin that I have no clue where it's located. I am mainly interested in sorting the Backlight email first anyway, the blog can be looked at later.
Does any of this throw any more light on the problem?
Neville
Hello
I spent an hour yesterday on the phone with Google trying to sort this problem. They tried allsorts of setting changes and checked everything that was set up on the site backend and couldn't come up with an answer.
When we were sending test emails from the website the error message below kept coming up:
fsockopen(): unable to connect to ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465 (Network is unreachable) in SMTP.php on line 125
Google say it seems like a PHP setting on the website somewhere but we looked in the Backlight settings and couldn't find a likely candidate.
Any help would be appreciated.
Neville
OK I think I get it......it appears to have something to do with how Backlight saves Cookies.
I changed the Search Title again > Logged out Logged In again > It wouldn't update this time.
Cleared Cookies and it updated.
So I guess the Logging Out is unnecessary > Just clear Cookies.
Neville
Well that's another little undocumented quirk to add to this process!
Absolutley right.....that did the trick.
I wonder why it is so well hidden.
Thanks for your help.
Neville
Good morning
I changed my Search title a year or so ago and wanted to change it again.
I remembered that it took me hours to find it in the first place and again it took me at least another hour to find it again! The Pallet text is in the logical place inside the Album Template it is using but the Main Copy section of that template has no effect......very odd......and very annoying.
So with some help from this community, although the answer was hidden almost as deep as the location of this data, I finally found it in: Backlight > Languages > US English > Manage Language.
Hallelujah!
One small problem.....when I change the text in there now it doesn't seem to have any effect.
Is there something else I've missed?
Thanks
Neville
Hello Rod
A missing closed </font> it was.....many thanks.
Neville
Good morning
My Home page has the Top Menu on the Right & the Footer at the Bottom of the Page as they should be:
As far as I can see I have exactly the same settings in my Page Template (Page-Justified-1 Column) for my Impressions > Chile page:
https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/impressions/chile/
However the Menu floats to the Left even though it is set to the Right and the Footer that is supposed to appear in the Bottom Pallet appears at the Top.
I've obviously missed something but I'm blowed if I can find it. Any help would be appreciated.
Neville
Good morning Rod
Browser cache didn't work but template cache did.....many thanks.
Neville
Good morning
My Album Set 'Impressions' just will not show up in the Menu Dropdown of Galleries.
If you click on Galleries it shows up as a Thumbnail in the next level.
If you open my Blog it shows up in the Menu Dropdown of Galleries there.
It is set up exactly the same as the other Album Sets so I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Neville
Hello Ben,
Any update on this issue?
Or does anyone out there know a workaround?
Or is it a bug?
Thanks,
Neville
Good morning,
When I open the drop down menu for Cover Image within my my Smart Album the Custom Thumbnails appear at the top of the list.....which is nice.....but they are in a totally random order.
I have only just started using this facility and already there are quite a few in there, so in the future as my website grows I can see it will be a real pain searching them out.
Is there a way to get them to sort properly, ideally by Filename I guess? The rest of the photo's in the Album that are shown underneath the Custom Thumbnails are sorted correctly.
Thanks,
Neville
Forget this post.....fixed it! User Error!
It was drawing the data from Headline NOT Caption!
Duh!
Good morning,
Ref my photo: Church-Forrabury-026.jpg in Churches > Forrabury
Link: https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/churches/forrabury/
I forgot to change the Keywords, the Caption and the Postcode (I put it in the City field) before I uploaded this photo. So after I found the errors I changed them all in Lightroom and re-published it.
The Keywords and Postcode updated OK but the Caption did not.....it retained the original Caption.
So I deleted the Photo in my Lightroom Album Export folder.....when it asked me if I want to delete the photo on all Published Services I said Yes. Then I re-exported a brand new copy from my Originals folder to my Lightroom Album Export folder.
TTG Publisher recognised the new Photo and I re-published it. Bizarrely it still retained the original Caption!
How is it possible that it is picking up this Metadata when the photo with it on was deleted?
NB. I have deleted Cached Images from my browser to no avail.
NB. The Lightroom > Flickr Publisher does NOT have the same problem.....the Caption updated properly.
UPDATE
I cleared out the large default Caption metadata that I have always used for when I upload photos to Flickr.
This seems to have cured it.
Neville
Hello,
Just created a new Smart Album in Lightroom Classic > TTG Publisher and clicked Publish.
It seems to get going then quits with this error message:
Can't update this collection.
An internal error has occurred:
TTGPublishServiceProvider.lua:792: attempt to concatenate local 'minimizeEmbeddedMetadata' (a boolean value).
NB. I should say that this is the first album I have created since upgrading from Lightroom 5 to the new subscription Lightroom Classic, although everything else appears to work the same as before.
Any idea what the error is please?
Thanks,
Neville
Yes the Bellefair font is in:
Masthead > Identity > Prepend Font-family w/
Neville
Hello Rod,
Yes that's the small version of the Title that sits in the top left corner.....I want that one to stay on mobile.
It's the Primary Masthead one that is causing the problem.....it sits on top of the top pallet icons on mobile and looks a mess. If I could move it down a bit it would be fine but the padding settings have no effect.
The strangest thing.....just checked on my mobile and the Primary Masthead one has disappeared now! It would not budge yesterday! It's almost like it had been cached like an image.
Anyway it's gone now.
One thing though. The small Title in the Top Pallet is still not picking up the Bellefair Font. Yes it's a Google font.....which gets picked up OK on the rest of the site, and on the Blog on Desktop, just not on the Blog on Mobile.
Neville
Hello Rod,
I have found another issue with this theme page.
On a mobile the Primary Masthead won't go away. My Settings:
Masthead > Primary Masthead > Visibility > Desktop
Whatever this is set at makes no difference on a mobile. None of the Border or Padding settings make any difference on a mobile either.
The Primary Masthead logo does not pick up the Bellefair default font either, it seems to be using Arial I think.
NB. All changes work when viewed on a Desktop.
Regards,
Neville
Hello Rod,
Thanks for the reply.
It seems the theme page was corrupted. Created a new one and all works OK.
Neville
Hello,
I am setting up my Wordpress Blog, see link below:
***
I am trying to change the default font used in the Blog Post headers e.g. 'Walk - Zennor to Porthmeor'
The headers are using the same Bellefair font that is used for our Piktour logo.
I had assumed I would be able to go into:
Backlight > Designer > Templates > Theme Templates > Theme Default
then change:
Typography > Headings Font Properties in the Page Template 'Page - 2 Column - WordPress' that it uses.
***
I also tried:
Backlight > Designer > Pages > Blog
changing:
Typography > Headings Font Properties in the Page Template 'Page - Classic - No Logo - WordPress' that it uses.
***
However neither of these has any effect.
***
Any idea where Wordpress is drawing the Font formatting from?
Many thanks,
Neville
Good morning,
I am working on the Thumbnails on Album Set below:
https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/churches/
In some of the Albums I have started to create nice square icon images so that they fit the Thumbnails perfectly, see Altarnun, Charlestown and St Just in Roseland.
These images have not been reduced in any way other than the crop.
However, all these end up blurry and unsharp whereas the ones that are still using standard uncropped images stay sharp.
I have tried the Retina option but that has no effect.
Is there any other setting I can try?
Thanks,
Neville
Got it.
Great, all fixed now.....thanks a lot!
Really appreciate that you guys help out, even on a Sunday.
Hello Rod,
You're right about the closing </font> tag......many thanks.
That has cured the https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/golf/c … hips/2015/ page.
Looking at the html I added to the Search album template it looks like I made the same mistake in there and left it off. However, it looks like it's been corrupted because whatever I put in there is now ignored. I have created different album templates (Album - Search - 1 & 2) and tried to use them but again they are ignored.
Is there another way to amend the html that Search is using?
Thanks,
Neville
