Thanks, Ben. Looking forward to that fix.
Thank you and sorry for the off-topic.
I guess I'm doing something wrong here: I created an Album set and then an Album but in either, I can't find the order method let alone "slug".
Also, how to get the albums in a certain order. I used to indicate in LR "managed by Lightroom" and I put a number before the slug but it doesn't seem to work in Backlight 3.
Looking forward to the correction.
I've uploaded a video clip on this site: https://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/galleries/octobre/ but, as you can see, no video!
But, I already uploaded successfully two other clips when in Backlight 2! But now, on Backlight 3, I can't find where to indicate the video ID.
Thanks, Rod
Thanks, Rod. I found some of your indications on https://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto … opy-areas/
Works great. Now, I just have to find a way to add a title or text below the button to indicate it's use.
I am new to Backlight 3 and I was wondering how I could place a button on the "About" page that would lead to a pdf file.
The file is already on the server at ftp://pideja.ca/marco/fr/pdf. The page is here: https://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/about/.
I've done this before, but on a CE3 site! http://marccharlebois.com/marc_fr/contact.php
This is a rest site, on a sub-domain. I will eventually transfer it to its proper server when I'm done with the building.
Great flawless update from 2 to 3! Now, it's on to designing another Backlight 3 site! Thanks Ben and Matt!
Thanks for the help. The form is now left and aligned with the contact info. It is a bit large, but for now, I'll leave it at that.
By the way, I was trying to implement the grid but couldn't get it to function. Something for me to explore, at some point.
My mistake. I placed the CSS in the wrong file! Sorry. Text is now aligned right, as I wanted it.
Apart from placing the text to the left, no change. The CSS doesn't seem to kick in.
I know it's wrong, but adding that
<div style="text-align:right">
does place the text to the right.
Removing the ####resized the text smaller and aligned the form headings to center while resizing the form boxes.
No position change, of course.
The problem with
The simplest thing is to do what Daniel suggested. Put that contact info in its own div with a custom class and float it to the right with a 50% width.
is that I'm not sure how to do this.
Also, I changed the CSS to read float: left rather than align. Probably a mistake on my part.
This, I inserted into the page CONTACT>Page Settings>Page Copy>Main Copy:
#### <div style="text-align:right"><p>1330, rue Berthier Montreal (Quebec) H2L 1N3 <br> Tel: 514.527.8764<br>Mob: 514.402.5940 <br>e-mail: segami1@videotron.ca <br>web: www.marccharlebois.com</p>
<div class="div-backlight-form contact-form"></div>
The type is the correct font and weight and size and is aligned correctly to the right. Except I can't control the position.
Also, I can control the size of the reply box "Message" but not the other boxes. Still not able to align with the right side text.
The CSS is:
/* contact page */
.contact-text {
float:left;
width: 50%;
}
.contact-form{
float:left;
width: 50%;
}
.contact-form input {
max-width: 100%;
margin: 0 0;
}
element.style {
top: 5px;
left: 20px;
}
Today, the topic is the Contact page as seen here: https://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/contact/
It's getting there but two issues need to be resolved and frankly, I'm at a loss as to how to solve these.
- First, I'd like the form on the left to be higher on the page, more or less aligned with the coordinates on the right.
-Then, I'd like to add a button that would link back to a pdf document.
This, I have done before, as seen here:http://marccharlebois.com/marc_fr/contact.php.
But, this was back in the days of CE3. Could the same method be applied here?
Here is a rough layout:
I have already implemented some CSS code for the contact page:
/* contact page */
.contact-form p {
text-align: left;
}
.contact-form input {
max-width: 50%;
margin: 0 0;
}
element.style {
top: 5px;
left: 20px;
}
But clearly it does nothing in the positioning of the form.
I had successfully implemented dynamic mastheads in CE3, but the method used there can obviously not simply be copied across to Backlight 2.
I have Custom CSS enabled, but copying the old CSS code and the related images for dynamic mastheads as described here: http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … _mastheads does not do the job in Backlight 2.
Any suggestions about how to do this?
Finally, I got it to loop...using After Effects, I created a 3-minute loop which should be more than enough before one chooses Fr or En to enter the site. Could easily make it longer but why bother?
In the end, I'm not too sure I'll keep the effect. Glad I succeeded but I now realize the simpler nameplate approach might be better in this case.
Got it to work...I placed the intro folder within the galleries folder.
This is a dummy video as I'll be editing another clip for this introduction. And the final video will have no sound. But the structure is in place...almost. I'd like it to loop!
This code:
<video controls loop>
<source src="movie.mp4" type="video/mp4">
<source src="movie.ogg" type="video/ogg">
Your browser does not support the video tag.
</video>
found in the w3schools site is suggested. But where should I place it?
As it stands now, the server setup looks like this: and yes, the the "intro" album is inserted into the home page:
That's where it is now.
Trying to implement a video sequence on the HOME page of pideja.ca/marco
I create an album template using the theatre module and named it intro; I then placed a folder named intro in the galleries; I then placed the video files (mp4, ogv and webm) in the videosrc folder.
So it's pideja.ca/marco/galleries/videosrc.
In Publisher, I created an album called intro. In the base settings, set template to intro and the video ID to intro. The video files are called intro, of course. I edited the .htaccess file according to the instructions in "Video Embedding: HTML5 Video" on the TTG documentation page.
That's a lot of "intro"s but I think it's simpler this way.
Anyway, nothing shows up on the home page!
What did I forget to do?
About that Masthead setting in the Album Set page, I'd like to change that name (it's actually the Company Name in Backlight settings) to an image (name-plate) similar, but smaller than the one on the Home page.
Something along the lines of this, in the CE3 version of the site: http://marccharlebois.com/marc_fr/galleries.php
I am trying out some text on that page, but I'm not too sure if it would be better suited for an "About" page. Anyway, that masthead image should go over the text, in lieu of the name that appears now.
Thanks for this information.
Since I think TTG might break off completely from LR, I'm trying to build this site entirely from Backlight.
Looking at the Album Set page https://pideja.ca/marco/Fr/galleries/, two things bug me: that "gallery" inscription to the left. Is that a breadcrumb? I disabled that feature so why is it there?
Also, the name "Marc Charlebois A.S.C." appears where I would like the nameplate that appears on the Home page to show.Is this a case for CSS or can I swing this in Backlight?
I have some video clips under or over witch I would like to have a short description or caption showing.
Is this possible with Backlight or should I publish through LR?
