My Masonry gallery looks kind of strange. The Portrait pictures.
http://www.theomolenaar.nl/destinations … lbum-test/
Sort of same in CE4
Ah they are in publsher. Ok I can edit them there. They have the content from the template. So if I change that it might disappear. Same with republishing. I'll try to put the responsive grid in Publisher....
With your Info I'll experiment a bit \. That wil get me somewhere
Ok, thanks.
I tried the responsive grid. It works. However the coloumns are not filled from publisher as before. In publisher there is tray one copy and tray 2 copy. The contents are not displayed.
I also cannot edit the individual pages that are in the album sets. Test level 1and test level 2 have the text from the template. They are not pages I can see or Edit in Backilight. And they also do not display the text from Publisher.
Masonry did the same thing. Removing the pallets led to three columns. I had to republish to get the landscape thumbnails back.
Ok Rod, thanxs alot
The site you link also seems to contain the answers to the questions I did not yes ask. Like putting the social media in the footer !!
A bit of a pity that I have to do coding. I hoped that would be less with an online tool. But ok, I try to sort of understand the logic aqain (did not do any of this for some years).
I wanted to try a layout with logo, title, menu and social media in the top pallet. However I cannot modify the top pallet's heighth. The difference between the behaviour of top pallet and masthead are also not clear (to me). I can not find documentation about the different area's of the page (what are gutters is another problem) and their behaviour. It seems that Backlight is rather under-documented compared to CE4.
And the pictures of the albums are distorted:
On my current CE4-site (that I want to more or less replicate) the sidebar is next to to the text (album sets). And the indexed albums are below that. http://pictures.theomolenaar.nl/destina … -of-china/
I have all the text in the publisher, I can replace copy or put the new copy above or under. Same with the separate sidebar.
In backlight there are pallets and they are strict columns. I have to base the album sets on a page and then the thumbnails of the albums are also in a column. That is not a usefull behaviour in my opinion...
Is there a way to avoid the full page colomn's ?
At the moment I have 2 websites. One is more general and abou photography, the other is more travel related. The latter is in a subdomain.
I have Backlight installed in the root. Can I install a second backlight in a subdomain ?
Daniel
I did that already. I edited it, but uploaded it again after trying stuff. However I now guess I must have inadvertedly downloaded a modified copy with filezilla. Just clicked on it. Started over from the original zip file..
And it works ! Thanks.
I tried to find the pages, but they are not there as URL's. So it is the backlight database or whatever that makes the translation (I guess). But I culd not fin any of that.
Sorry This should be in Backlight 2 support !!
I made a new page called test with a few words and addded it. Still text from the homepage
That is not the case. They are linked to the pages text, contact etc. If you hoover over the menu you can see that in the bottom. If you click you can see the URL. For the contact page I added a contact form..
I started to bild a new site. Guess its going to take a while. I filled text in a number of pages (contact (contact form), over, but on all pages the text from 'home' appears.
Ok thanks
I reported that to Strato. Noo answer yet, but suddenly it atarted working
Ok i have contacted them. Offcourse it is not them. The tell me to set LogLevel debug (they googled it by the way) but cannnot tell me how to set that.
And to add this to the hraccess file:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
If I look in the htacces file in thebacklicht/installer map there is already something similar. It did not work however.
There also was a mattter of an old domain that pointed to the same root (multiple domains are done with redirects and the redirect was gone), that might also have something to do with it. Or not I am guessing. Reparing that did not have any resuts. How can I get logging of what happens?. What php files are invoked by what other php files etc. etc.
I tried to install backlight 2. Copied the files to the server and filled in ordernr and email as said in the documentation. Nothing happened. Tried it several times.
In the server log:
10.02.2019 19:48:45 theomolenaar.nl [client 2a02:a442:8e00::] FastCGI: "/home/strato/http/fastcgi/rid/90/89/51959089/htdocs/backlight/installer/index.php" aborted: no response after 123 sec (idle timeout 120 sec)
Hello
I updated the PHP version at my hosting to 7.2. And both the autoindex and the direct pages did not work anymore.
Function create_function() is deprecated|#0 /mnt/web120/d0/89/51959089/htdocs/_pictures_CE4_V01/wp-includes/pomo/translations.php(208): ErrorHandler::handleError(8192, 'Function create...', '/mnt/web120/d0/...', 208, Array) #1 /mnt/web120/d0/89/51959089/htdocs/_pictures_CE4_V01/wp-includes/pomo/translations.php(269): etc etc...
Switched back to 5.6 and the site worked again........
So CE4 does not support PHP 7 ? Or did I miss an upgrade ?
Ah Thanxs
I sort of gave up. I found an instruction video of some kind (of the first one that I had installed) that was about hacking code.
This is fairly simple. However it dooes not yet provide what I would want. But I can try stuff from this point on I guess.
Yes I have looked at plugins. They all seem to generate code that you have to insert in some theme file. With examples how to do that in regular themes as 2012 etc. Coding in TTG is different.
And I do not want to do all this stuff. Would like a regular option or a documented feature in phplugins, Not going to hack into source files.
Now that the new wordpress additon is out I could not heelp wondering about a roadmap. The theme is quite straightforward. Good for a photography site with an added blog. However I think the overall looks would improve quite a bit with a masonry layout for categories of posts. Just to keep up with the great looks of the albums.
Are there plans to faclitate that in the near future ?
Thanks for the info
Looks nice. I might try it. But it looks like you build pages. The menu entry that creates the list of blogpages does not go to a page however. It is a menu entry that displays a category....
Yes I tried that
I installed a plugin. The plugin generated shortcode. I had to edit a file of php and replace some code. Since the code in the CE4 theme does not look like the code in the documentation (theme 2012). I had to do some guesswork as to where to put the code. I ended up with a site that did not work at all.
Yes, but I do not think I am going for Backlight. Both with CE3 and CE4 I had to edit exported files before upload. I am afraid that won't be possible with Backlight when the files are on the server. Besides there always seem to be issues with subdomains on my provider. So it might not work at all. And also took me a lot f time. I do not want to go to this process again.
Photocrati is a theme made by the people of Nextgen It has rich possibilities as a wordpress blogging theme. Among that are masonry layouts for pages with posts. And since my focus is shifting to blogs that becomes more of an issue.
I could also stick to CE4 if it would be possibe to get the masonry layout for the blog working. That would be my first choice.
So I was wondering if anyone in this forum has done so. Implemented a masonry style page that contains blogs with CE4 theme for Wordpress,
