This is my test domain site for replicating my backlight 111 site into pangolin 121 @
www.michaelregan.uk
Created top navigation menu with Brighton Galleries album set drop down menu,
worked fine with 3 test galleries in it
Cloned this & renamed them for 3 more Galleries album sets menus with drop down menus.
Set-up top level galleries in publisher, where all 4 top level galleries appear
Set-up menu for each top level gallery
Set-up Publisher for each top level gallery in Lightroom & published 3 test galleries in each.
Drop down menus are visible but disappear when trying to click on any of them!
Drop down menus are appearing behind text or photo (on contact page)
When trying to edit gallery page copy, it changes in template but it will not change on website,
have to edit the copy change in publisher/top level galleries/edit/pagecopy.
Have re-downloaded backlight 121 & re-installed it

What is the easy & quickest way to upgrade existing backlight 111 site to backlight 120a?
I don't want to change any layouts or designs on my site, at the moment, with the exception of using the Fancybox 3 lightbox
script for my 56 gallery slideshows, due to the pressure of other work commitments.
I just haven't got the time to spend ages doing it!
Would building a new subdomain & copying all my existing settings page by page into new backlight 120a templates work?
Then move it all over to my main domain? Or is there a easier way?
Thanks Mike R
Hi Rod
Thanks for your advice.
Everything went very smoothly moving to Bluehost.
My website loads at least 5 times faster now!
Couldn't be more pleased
Hi
Just opened Bluehost hosting account & need to move my existing Backlight site www.michaelregan.co.uk to it.
The public_html folder already has a .htaccess file in it.
Can I delete this file to make way for backlights .htaccess file? Do I need all these other files that are in public_html?
On my server backup that I have downloaded from my current host Fasthosts, I have noticed there are master.sq3 & master.sq3-journal files in backlights data folders: admin, cart, designer, & publisher. I don't think these are backlight files.
I think they are Fasthosts server files.
Should I delete these files before uploading my backlight site to Bluehost public_html folder?
Anything else to watch out for with bluehost?
Thanks
MikeR
Hi
Just opened a Bluehost account.
Any tips & pitfalls to avoid before moving existing websites to new Bluehost account?
Thanks MikeR
Hi Ben
Brilliant!
Amazing support!
thanks!
Mike
Hi Rod
Double checked everything can't see anything wrong
Hi Matt & Ben
No server issues
Uploaded a backup copy of my website, that worked until I made a very small change to the cart, upon which the cart stopped working again.
I have reinstalled backlight as per Matts suggestion.
My site is now working again.
But my cart is not working at all now.
Get message: No products are available for purchase
Please try again later, or contact the photographer if this problem persists.
The following were already set to, before & after reinstalling backlight:
SQLite Journal Mode PERSIST
SQLite Synchronous OFF
I had this same problem with my backlight site not loading, after making small changes to my Vegas slideshow 3 weeks ago
http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=7318
That time uploading a backup copy of my website worked, but I haven't made changes to my site since then, until installing the cart.
My hosting is slow & I plan to move to Bluehost next week sometime.
Just wanted to get the cart finished before the move.
Should I delete the cart module completely & start again with the cart?
Have emailed Ben the login details.
So sorry to disturb your vacation Ben! We all need a rest after Christmas!
Thanks MikeR
Hi Rod
Thanks for the amazingly quick reply!
No comma, no apostrophe in the shipping charges.
Have emailed Ben the link & details
Thanks MikeR
Hi
site: www.michaelregan.uk
Was putting the finishing touches to my shopping cart.
It wasn't displaying changed shipping charges correctly.
Got a message "Something has gone wrong with Shopping cart please contact the photographer"
which disappeared after reloading the browser.
I cleared the history & closed Firefox.
Upon opening Firefox again, I now can not access my site, it will not load & get
"504 Gateway Time-out The server didn't respond in time", after 60 seconds or so.
I can access backlight admin & make changes, I cleared the template cache.
Anybody any ideas?
Thanks
MikeR
Hi Lofty
Which of their packages do you use? Do you pay in dollars or pounds (as the pound has fallen so much in the last few months)
If you have to phone them for support is it in the USA or here?
MikeR
Hello everyone
Can anyone recommend who is the best hosting in the UK for Backlight?
I live in the UK and all my customers come from the UK.
I have just finished my new Backlight site @ www.michaelregan.uk ready to replace my old CE3 site,
just need to add the shopping cart & its ready to go.
Ben has given me absolutely fantastic support, for my backlight problems (all solved now) http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=7318
He also spotted & tested my very slow page load times, so I need to move hosting.
Thanks
MikeR
Hi Ben, Thanks for all your effort, great support!
I still can't delete that master.sq3 file, my host said try deleting Filezilla & re install it. That didn't work so I have to phone them tomorrow to try to get them to delete it.
I have re-published all my 56 galleries today, everything worked fine.
With the Vegas inline gallery that caused the failure, I deleted the lightroom template for it & created it again under a new name.
So maybe it was corrupt & that caused the failure. Each failure was caused by republishing a Vegas slideshow.
My backlight site has always seemed slow to load, compared to my old CE3 site @ www.michaelregan.co.uk
I have removed 300 photo's from my CE3 site to my backlight site.
There are still 2500 photographs it it!
I have just recently rebuilt all backlight templates from scratch hoping to improve performance.
The photographs are similar size wise between CE3 & backlight.
So should I complain to my host about poor performance, to see if they can do something, or should I move to a new host.
I would prefer a host here in the UK.
Again thanks for all your help, much appreciated!!
Mike
Hi Ben with regard to file permissions this quote from my support ticket from Fasthosts
"The way the system works is that it will not allow you to change the mode on the files via FTP. It will revert your change to 700 (Linux wise) anyway as the permissions are secured on the backend storage. It's quite complex storage model and the permissions you see in FTP or under Linux may not be relevant."
Hi Ben, Sorry I gave you my old CE3 site I'm replacing. Backlight is at http://www.michaelregan.uk
I'm hosting with Fasthosts https://www.fasthosts.co.uk/web-hosting
On their Cluster Platform, Linux, Momentum Package
Their default permissions are set 700. I can't change them via ftp.
The only way I could change them is via SSH with PuTTy program which I tried to do once but it was all completely over my head, so I couldn't change them.
Thanks Mike
Hi Ben, Backlight didn't report any errors or red messages. The page took ages, didn't load & then said 504 the server took too long to respond.
I'll re-publish all the galleries, as that is when it happened before. With 56 galleries it will take me a long time.
I'll get back to you if it happens again
Thanks Mike
Hi Ben. It's working OK now after the re upload.
I could republish all of the 56 galleries again, as that is when it fails.
But when it fails you can not access my website at all, you can login to backlight but not access anything inside it.
I was wondering whether the log files would tell you anything?
Thanks Mike
I have re uploaded my new backlight version 111 website back to www.michaeregan.uk where it came from.
I had download it before deleting it on the web server, thinking it was corrupt, to save any files you might need for debugging
It is now working again with access to backlight admin!
I hope you can debug backlight.
This is the 4th time this has happened.
I have sent Ben an email with ftp & backlight login details
Thanks
I have trying renaming the master.sq file & deleting it via my hosts ftp control panel. It still won't delete so I have submitted a support ticket to my hosts asking them to delete it
Thanks Rod have sent Ben an email
Catastrophic Complete Backlight Failure:
My test site www.michaelregan.co.uk was more or less finished & working great ready to moved over to my main domain in a couple of weeks time.
Making a very small change in a theatre Vegas inline template slideshow (changing the border colour)
& trying to re-publish the 12 photos in it. This happened:
1: Won't publish photo's (or any other photo's from any template)
2: My website will not load at all
3: Can log into backlight but can't access anything at all
4: Lightroom Publishing Manager Check Authentication fails.
The only way I was able to fix this was to delete backlight completely via ftp & reload a backup copy of backlight.
I am then left with this file that will not delete from my server via Filezilla or from my Server Control Panel ftp
backlight/data/designer/master.sq3
All this has happened 3 times trying to republish a gallery or a vegas inline slideshow in the last 2 weeks.
All the above happened using backlight-pages 105 release & 2 Theatre 103
So for my final build, I have used backlight 111 & theatre 104.
I spent 4 solid days completely completely rebuilding my entire website;
every template, gallery set & gallery.
Everthing working fine until the last gallery upload & the same has happened again!!!!!!!!!!!
This was before I had downloaded a backup copy!
So I am back to using the backlight 105 release 2 website.
Can't make any more small changes incase backlight completely crashes again
I think the master.sq3 file is the problem, but don't what to do about it.
Anybody got any ideas please?
Thanks
Increased space on my hosting, everything working perfect now!
Thanks for your help
I think I have found the problem.
My main site has 18gb of space for my website.
My sub domain has only 1gb of space, of which upon downloading my site as a backup, I realize I have now reached that size!
(I wasn't aware of this limit until I checked my hosting package)
This would explain why everything was working & now is not, allowing only a few photographs to upload.
I will increase the space available for my sub domain or move my site, to see if that fixes the problem
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
I have checked the file permissions in my ftp FileZilla they are set to 755
Daniel thanks for your reply
my web host is www.fasthosts.co.uk
I did move to a updated platform on my web host 3 days earlier.
I managed to upload 30 different galleries, with photographs absolutely fine before this happened
www.cornishdreams.michaelregan.co.uk This is my backlight test site. I am manually upgrading it from CE3
Lightroom now not uploading any more than a few photographs to Backlight before crashing
I have 4 top level galleries sets.
I have uploaded to 3 of them, complete collections of photographs
The 4th gallery set Cornish Dreams Gallery, which I had uploaded just 8 photographs in
each of the 24 galleries, a few days ago, as place holders to work the design out.
Now trying to upload the complete collection of photographs
I get the message below:
Can't Update this collection
Unable to perform action uploadRendition
Message: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move'/tmp/phplPk4sW@ to
'/home/linweb39/c/cornishdreams.michaelregan.co.uk
in PublisherDelegate.php on line 607
and this in the browser:
Something went wrong
Update query failed with error: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 10 disk I/O error sql: 'UPDATE `album` SET `needs_first_visit`=\'no\',
`modified`=\'2016-09-21 18:36:24\' WHERE `id`=\'5887\'' params: array ( ) in PdoExtended.php on line 552
the browser & backlight admin are then locked solid until I delete the recent uploaded photographs
from the TTG publisher gallery in Lightroom.
I had upgraded to windows 10 anniversary update a few days ago,
so I have now uninstalled that update to put windows 10 back what was before.
I have uninstalled Lightroom & re-installed it.
I have cleared the backlight template cache.
I have disabled TTG publisher plugin in Lightroom & reloaded it with a newer TTG Publisher download
I cannot upload any more than about 4 photographs, to any gallery of my 4 top level galleries
Be grateful if anyone can help
Thanks
MikeR
