#26 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-14 04:02:19

I added my code in the Lightroom Galleries>Page Content>Page Copy (md) so I can customize the titles, etc. based on the gallery.  Is there a more appropriate place to put it?

#27 Re: Backlight Support » Mobile Top Pallet and Footer postion » 2018-06-14 03:57:12

It seems that the mobile "masthead_pallet_top" expands the entire page down by its height.  Is there a way to offset the page height by the height of the mobile "masthead_pallet_top" when it is engaged.

That's very good to know, Daniel.  I'll definitely use it moving forward.

I've remedied my popup position issue but can't figure out how to "darken" the entire window behind the popup.  I'd love to solve this, if possible.

Hi Again,

In addition to my footer question, see here: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=8741,  I believe I only have one more major Pangolin migration issue to solve.

I have "Inquire About Prints" popups on my Album Thumbnail pages.  It works as expected pre-Pangolin, see here: http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/120-col … /index.php, but the in Pangolin the popup no longer covers the entire page and the popup box is no longer centred on the visible page but over the entire lengths of the page, including what is off-screen.  See here: http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/020-ire … o-gallery/

Note that it still seems to work properly in the mobile layout.

Any ideas?

Does anybody have any insight into the footer position issue I mentioned above?

Thanks.

Hi All,

I need to fix something I just discovered in my Pangolin migration.  I'm using "Top Pallet" "Has Height on Mobile =on".  It works as I want in desktop mode but when viewed in mobile mode or when viewing on my iPad, without mobile mode engaged, the footer is shifted down off the bottom of the screen by the amount of the Top Pallet.  You can see the behaviour by narrowing or expanding your browser to engage or disengage mobile mode here: http://www.bretculp.com/Bret-Culp-artist-statement/

What is the best way to fix this so that the footer is always visible at the bottom of the viewer if the content doesn't push it lower?

Thanks.

#33 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 09:57:54

I figured it out.  I had to double click on each of the galleries to be published in Lightroom and then hit "edit" / save then republish.  Republishing alone would not update the Backlight gallery even though the image had the metadata in it.  Crazy!

#34 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 09:43:18

Note that I cleared the template and browser cache.  If I switch back to my pre-Pangolin album template the "Caption" appears.  When I go back to my Pangolin template they disappear, except for http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/110-col … o-gallery/.  I'm very confused with this one.

#35 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 09:18:52

One more question for tonight.

Earlier you said to republish my gallery to get the "Caption" data.  I had previously republished but didn't see the caption on my thumbnail page until I tried it one more time.

Now that gallery has the caption showing, http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/110-col … o-gallery/, but my other galleries do not, even though I've republished all photos.  Also, the images have the metadata "Caption" info within them. I've tried republishing several times. Here is a link to one of the galleries that don't show the captions, http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/010-rec … o-gallery/

Any ideas?

#36 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 08:47:31

Yes, it looks correct on the main site.  I'll see what I can do.  Thanks.

#37 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 08:00:27

Thanks, Rod!!!  Sorry about that.  tongue

You can see the version without the "*, *::before, *::after { box-sizing: content-box}" on my blog, http://www.bretculp.com/bret-culp-photography-blog/ I had to disable it because it was causing many problems with formatting, including the search bar.

Is there a way to target the "*, *::before, *::after { box-sizing: content-box}"  more specifically?  to the masthead and menu?

I think I've taken care of most of my other problems because of your help.

#38 Re: Backlight Support » A few more Pangolin migration questions » 2018-06-12 06:32:51

Thanks again, Ron.  You're a life saver.  I have two more, hopefully quick, questions.

(1)

I put the search code, below, into "Page Copy" at Backlight>Publisher>Top-level Galleries?Photography Gallery>Edit

It working fine prior to my upgrade but now all I see is the the "Search Photos" title with no search bar.

<h1>Search Photos</h1>
<div id="search">
    <form action="/backlight/search" method="GET">
        <input type="text" id="q" name="q" placeholder="Photo Search" value=""/>
        <button type="submit" style="margin-top: 6px;"><i class="fa fa-search" ></i> Search</button>
    </form>
<div class="top-galleries-examples"><em>(examples: fog, Wicklow, snow, pinhole, 2010)</em></div>
</div> <!-- #search -->

--

(2)

My website title, replaced with PHP script, was looking a bit different in terms of layout in Pangolin.  Also my 1000px custom menu was not appearing as the full 1000px and the last item didn't have the rounded outside edge if previosuly had.  Through the inspector I noticed a different between Pangolin and pre-Pangolin of "*, *::before, *::after { box-sizing: content-box}"   Pre-Pangolin had it and things looked correct.  Post didn't have it so I added it into  my custom css.  However, I think it's resulting in option styling problems in my upgraded site.  Any thoughts on what I should really be doing here?

Thank you once more!
bret

I also don’t seem to be getting all of the icons in the Photo Presentation and the ones there seem very small.  http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/110-col … o-gallery/

How do you disable the download button in the Photo Presentation?

which icons do you think are missing? As far as I can tell, all the icons that should be there, are there. If you're missing the map icon, make sure the image has gps metadata.

you should be able to control the size with custom css. This is the default css controlling those icons:

.fancybox-pallet ul li > a::after {
    color: #ff8000;
    color: #454545;
    font-size: 18px;
    line-height: 48px;
}

Disable the download icon in the album template: Photo Presentation > Downloads: Disabled

Thanks for all of your help, Ron!

As for the icons, I only see very small dots for "Close", "Start Slideshow", "Thumbnails", but "Image Share" appears as an actual icon.  Is that what you're seeing/normal?

It’s probably something I’m doing, but it seems that there is a new overall behaviour of a line break after an image.  For example, in the past, if I have two images each 400 pixels wide they would appear beside each other, but now after first image there appears to be a break dropping the second image below.  See the code below.  The website link is: http://www.bretculp.com/purchase-prints/

<div style="text-align: center">
<img src="/images/purchase-prints/Bret-Culp_Photography-Gallery-Prints-1.jpg" width="475" height="356" alt="Bret Culp Gallery Prints at Leonardo Galleries Toronto 1" title="Bret Culp  Prints at Leonardo Galleries" />
<img src="/images/purchase-prints/Bret-Culp_Photography-Gallery-Prints-2.jpg" width="475" height="356" alt="Bret Culp Gallery Prints at Leonardo Galleries Toronto 2" title="Bret Culp Prints at Leonardo Galleries" />
</div>

This is also the case if I have an image and then some text.  See here: http://www.bretculp.com/newsletters/

This was not the case pre-Pangolin.

(2)

Thumbnail Caption

The caption info doesn’t seem to be getting passed to the grid display in my Pangolin update.
What I’m getting is this:  http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/110-col … o-gallery/
What I’m looking for is this kind of Caption under the thumbnail: http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/120-col … o-gallery/

(3)

I also don’t seem to be getting all of the icons in the Photo Presentation and the ones there seem very small.  http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/110-col … o-gallery/

How do you disable the download button in the Photo Presentation?

(4)

In Pangolin Album Sets, is there a way to force the “Thumbnail Coverage” to “Contain” when using the “Iconic” Style as could be done previously?  I'd like it to look like this: http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

#41 Re: Backlight Support » Pangoln Prepend Font-family w/ question » 2018-06-11 09:50:55

Thank you very much, Matt.  As always, very much appreciated.  I failed to add the "Google Fonts Statement (optional)" in my Pangolin template.  It's all working great now.

#42 Re: Backlight Support » Pangoln Prepend Font-family w/ question » 2018-06-11 06:06:31

I just tested on an older Andriod tablet (Asus Nexus 7) with the same non-'Open Sans' result.

#43 Re: Backlight Support » Pangoln Prepend Font-family w/ question » 2018-06-11 05:56:53

Yes, I cleared the template cache as well as the browser cache with the same result.  Are you getting a different result?

#44 Re: Backlight Support » Pangoln Prepend Font-family w/ question » 2018-06-11 05:53:09

I tried a fresh Pangolin template only adding 'Open Sans'.  The font doesn't appear on the page when viewed on my iPhone or iPad but does appear on my Macbook and iMac (desktop), even when the vertical/mobile menu is enabled.  If this is an IOS problem why does it work in the pre-Pangolin templates?

#45 Re: Backlight Support » Pangoln Prepend Font-family w/ question » 2018-06-11 02:59:03

Thanks, Matt.  I made the 'Open Sans' change but it didn't help on my iPhone and iPad.  Any other ideas?  Note that it is not an issue pre-Pangolin.

Hi All,

I'm still working away at upgrading to Pangolin, I have a lot of custom css that needs tweaking, and have encountered something strange.  It seems that when on a mobile device (iPad Pro or iPhone 8), my fonts of choice revert to the default and not my "Prepend Font-family w/ : Open Sans" choice.  Note that if I scale my web browser down to engage the mobile layout on my laptop or desktop the font is correctly Open Sans, as expected.  Also, the iPad doesn't engage the mobile display because of the screen size but the fonts are not correct.  This is not a problem pre-Pangolin.  Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
bret

Hello,

I'm finally starting the update of my site to Pangolin.  One thing that doesn't seem to be working for me at the moment is that previously I was using the custom PHP file to create a more complex title using ttg_masthead_top which isn't working in Pangolin.  Any ideas?

Thanks
