#26 Re: Backlight Support » Background image for template -all pages » 2017-06-05 14:37:06

Not working. Keep trying to edit campagna css in word editor using url given on upload image page. Save, then FTP to server. Have tried many different ways to make it work and nothing works. Pretty frustrating.
Here is one of the versions:
html,
body,
main {
    background: linear-gradient(90deg, #ffffff 50%, #fafafa 50%, #fafafa);

    background-color:
    background-image: URL: http://ljdservice.com/backlight/designe … image&p1=2
    background-attachment: fixed;
    background-position: center top;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-size: cover;
}

Have tried image name, path to directory, quotes, parentheses
favicon select dropdown not working either

It looks like this could be an excellent place for me to start.
http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … ustom-css/
I did have a look at 'campagna.css', but have already built a bunch of the site, and want to keep that stuff
Thanks Rod
ps: ttg-tips not linked on your primary site?

Some info on using custom CSS is here - http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … lesheets&s[]=css
Is there an existing CSS folder to edit if I have already done some designing and want to keep it?
Can I get a little more instruction on inserting the background image?

#29 Re: Backlight Support » 404 Error on setup New site » 2017-05-29 13:29:13

Thanks Rod, got up and running, but some other help needed for simple background image -see other post. Thanks very much
Ben reported that the Backlight files needed to be in the public_html folder on the server, rather than domain.con folder placed on server

So, trying to find the answers is basically torture (as can be with all site building, except for maybe you guys who know where everything is already) This is what I would like to do -have a background image for all pages. -have transparent nav buttons -have clear and complete instructions on how and where to go to accomplish this. That's about it. I have uploaded the background image and can get to the URL for the image, I have tried to edit custom css, but changes do not appear. Can I get ultra specific steps on css, (or is there is something else I'm missing please?

#31 Re: Backlight Support » 404 Error on setup New site » 2017-05-29 09:41:05

Thanks Rod, It looks like the real problem is that Ben says an additional purchase is required for an additional website. I was unable to find info on this in docs or forum, so do you have any info on making an additional separate website on another server? Will I be able to add to the existing Publisher module or will I need a separate Lightroom catalog, or other potential snags? Maybe a small note can be added to documentation for other people who might be wanting to do the same, Thanks

Hi, I'd like to make an additional website, have a separate domain, hosting, have unzipped and installed according to Backlight setup instruction. But am receiving a 404 page not found error when trying to get to the next step (mydomain.com/backlight) I have sent the server access info to Ben but have not heard back yet. Thanks

#33 Re: Backlight Support » The Image could not be loaded error » 2016-12-17 06:21:27

That was it Ben,
The second one, 'Publish thumbnails without updating other renditions' WAS checked. And that was the fix. thank you!
Apparently at an earlier time I had checked it doing something with thumbnails and forgot to turn it back.
-getting to know things much better, but probably would never have found that on my own.
-will keep an eye on file naming best practices
thank you thank you

#34 Re: Backlight Support » The Image could not be loaded error » 2016-12-17 02:03:51

Thanks for pointing there in Lightroom.
I don't think that's the problem though. Spaces have been throughout for a number of weeks now. Other pages working.
Is this confirmed by the authors? No spaces or commas? (that would not be great)
I did a republish and edit yesterday (don't remember exactly what) then the problem appeared.
Then I did a republish to remove single quote character and that file produced the error.
In the error URL the spaces are already replaced with hyphens http://masseyart.com/galleries/album-se … -18-in.jpg
It seems more likely that something is corrupted, and I would need to clear a cache or remove a republish in some manner

#35 Re: Backlight Support » The Image could not be loaded error » 2016-12-17 01:25:11

Now the ones that I changed the file names on have disappeared

#36 Re: Backlight Support » The Image could not be loaded error » 2016-12-17 01:15:20

I thought commas were supposed to be OK, and others that have commas are loading, But I do see a couple single quote marks ' and will try that.

-appears for a few all of a sudden. 'The image' links to a 404 error message.
I've tried republishing and a few other things.
Thanks

#39 Re: Backlight Support » Client response Round two » 2016-11-30 01:44:08

Sorry, a bit of user error (been known to happen a couple times). I found out about the filtering, and was able to restore. Also inserted the code that you had supplied (great!). Could I have some clarification on the options for Post Submission Actions and which one to select (not so self explanatory for me) in order to have the options I am looking for -client can resubmit.
All seems to be OK for now -thank you

#40 Re: Backlight Support » Client response Round two » 2016-11-30 00:48:58

After a few clicks all the previous feedback disappeared from admin. Gone forever? Republished album, still all checked

So the client chose 27 favorites out of 100 or whatever. Then I posted only the 27 favorites to let them narrow it down further. It appears that all 27 have check marks (unwanted) and the message the gallery is now closed. (even more unwanted). I remember seeing two different options in the initial setup, but frankly it was not clear to me which option would do what. Can you tell me exactly where to go to change that option, in as fully specific terms as possible? Republish? all the steps needed to move forward.
Fortunately this is a somewhat test with a friend, but they want their photo asap. Thanks very much
Everything else is quite wonderful as the learning curve is being tackled.
Thanks

#42 Re: Backlight Support » Galleries on Pages, Client Response » 2016-11-12 14:12:34

Thanks I did your second option of a new top level gallery in publisher,(great) then I found most all of what I needed to do by taking a break and coming back  finding the typography options -getting used to the controls laid out between pages, templates, albums, add-ons and publisher... Thanks I'll have a look at thumbnail parameters in album thumbnails (though I remember trying and having to settle on masonry, I'll do more searching)
I'll work on my content and the see about child menus. It's in menu sets then set link to, then add on the right (getting warm?)
Thanks for telling where breadcrumbs are controlled (in publish module) and I found album cover thumbnail there too (and was pleased that it auto uploaded that change). So Thanks, I'll be back before long. Are there any plans for more video instructions or augmented documentation? THANK YOU

preview in browser works. Live site doesn't work at all. cleared all caches, tried different browsers. login has disappeared. hunting and searching for solutions. not so great right now

#44 Re: Backlight Support » Galleries on Pages, Client Response » 2016-11-12 08:58:58

That's pretty good. I have that up thanks. There is still a lot that is not as hoped, and many attempts. Has he been sent an email that it is published i hope not, It happened last attempt -we'll see. Now the guest login is not showing, (it had worked yesterday's testing) Also, I would like the option of no thumbnail showing the guy. Any help on this? Thanks for all so far.
Wish lists later

Hi, Could I please have some detailed help on how to create a separate gallery on a separate page, Is it in LR publish settings?. Can you spell them out clearly without omitting anything. I'm wanting a separate guest page containing the CRG (client response)
I have set up CRG and it appears only with my main gallery on a page where I don't want it.
Also CRG gallery generates a thumbnail that I do not want. I saw briefly an option for a custom thumbnail (which I'd create?) -where is that again, with details pls?

I spend a long time searching before posting here, bc I imagine it to be  cumbersome task on your part, and don't want to add your work load.

On my wish list is flyout menus for different subcategories for indexes
and a way of removing or changing the look of the galleries> text in the upper left. I've come across them, before but pointing them out for me would be great.
I've also seen the custom thumbnail options in tips and tricks. Does this solve the variable sizing that I'm getting? Can you point me there too?
Lastly the login and forms for my CRG (not currently published) was showing light text on a light background -login, save, submit etc -where to change those text colors? Thanks !! www.masseyart.com [very beginning stages]

#46 Re: Backlight Support » Error when publishing to Backlight » 2016-10-03 05:04:50

Thanks Rod! You led me to the right tree to bark up, as I learn this excellent system. One file needed some renaming among my only slightly scrambled files.

#47 Re: Backlight Support » Error when publishing to Backlight » 2016-10-02 11:25:48

Hi, Can you clarify a little bit? (same problem here). I have renamed my files to custom names and it's vital that I be able to use those names. The renames need to be in the same folder as originals? One or the other version needs to be deleted? Should I export the custom name versions, re-import and re-create an album of those images? Thanks

#48 Re: Backlight Support » Set up not working » 2016-10-02 01:52:21

Solution- Thanks everyone for the timely and attentive support. Ben found the problem, and I realize my problem was with reading 1 c. of Install Backlight. I did not see that with yourdomain.com/backlight, yourdomain.com needs to be a folder on the server within the root folder that needs to be created (if it does not already exist -mine did not) Thanks

#49 Re: Backlight Support » Set up not working » 2016-09-30 23:42:20

Thanks Matt, I'm currently emailing with Ben. Honestly, the server specs were not easy to find on their site. They are running WordPress and are historically up to date, so I have been confident in that regard, though not conclusively sure with regard to that point.
Ben has the site info requested -Thanks!

#50 Re: Backlight Support » Set up not working » 2016-09-30 14:29:36

Thanks for your help. I re-dowloaded, unzipped, replaced files on server. Same results. Poor looking pages and non working edit buttons. (and other odd behaviors) The host is Netfirms. I'd like to fix it rather than switching hosts.
