That sounds right.

You may or may not also want TTG CE2 Auto Index, which you can use to create gallery indexes. For example, if you create five image galleries and want a table-of-contents so that you can give out a single link to all five. As an example, the page at this link is an auto index which leads out to several image galleries: http://ce2.theturninggate.net/galleries … e-gallery/

#3302 Re: General » Best way to present pdf photo books? » 2013-01-29 16:06:53

You might put the JPGs into a Highslide gallery. Users would then have the option of enlarging the pages to full-size for easier reading, and on the iPad they would be in the mobile gallery and could be flicked through using Photoswipe for a nice reading experience.

Another option might be to use the Auto Index, and then the XML Maker to create index entries for your PDF files. The index would then link directly to the PDF files, which would be opened in whatever way is native to the browser. Browsers these days can open PDFs, so embedding them into web pages often just makes the reading more difficult.

#3303 Re: General » Inline Slideshow not showing image names » 2013-01-24 02:43:33

So you're asking questions about software I haven't looked at since probably 2008 ... I'd recommend an upgrade.

#3304 Re: General » Need ability to zoom into a picture » 2013-01-24 02:34:43

There are so many reasons that's not going to happen, first of which being that I think the way we're doing things now is perfectly adequate. But feel free to go use that other thing if you prefer it.

#3305 Re: General » Need ability to zoom into a picture » 2013-01-23 12:50:10

Start at the top. And yes, just set large image sizes in the Output Settings.

#3306 Re: General » Which TTG products needed for a new photo site » 2013-01-22 20:04:43

... since they are providing parts of the overall solution of creating a website ...

That's what everything here does. It's  component system, and you grab at the components you want to build your site, or -- if not building a site -- to get the job done, whatever that job may be. Just about everything is optional, depending on the task at hand.

You're building a new website from scratch, so Pages and the Highslide gallery are going to be your core components. The Publisher and Auto Index are then both optional items you can use to further extend your publishing capabilities.

#3307 Re: General » Finding an item in the long menus » 2013-01-21 19:19:04

Nope. Lightroom just doesn't work that way. I've made the control group headings yellow to allow them to better act as visual waypoints when searching, and that's about all I can do.

#3308 Re: General » Need ability to zoom into a picture » 2013-01-18 12:51:33

The "closer view" of an image is just a larger image. If you export very large images using the Highslide gallery, Highslide will downscale the image to fit within the viewport and provide an "actual size" button that will display the image at it's natural size, in effect "zooming in" to allow closer inspection of details.

#3309 Re: Announcements & Information » Language functionality? » 2013-01-14 14:05:26

Not likely. Lightroom offers a limited architecture, and creating duplicate content in multiple languages is something not well suited to what we have to work with here.

#3310 Re: General » What TTG products do I need? » 2013-01-12 15:07:19

The Web module CANNOT output video.

The only option we offer for mixing stills and video into a single gallery is TTG CE2 Client Response Gallery. This allows you to put links to Vimeo videos into your image metadata, and to have those images automatically replaced by those Vimeo videos in the exported gallery.

#3311 Re: General » Virtual 360º Panorama » 2013-01-08 23:23:48

You can embed whatever content you like into Stage via PHPlugins. You will find documentation under the "Docs" link in the menu.

#3312 Re: General » Looking for a roadmap to start building my 1st website please » 2013-01-08 14:29:50

You need the Highslide plugin to create image galleries.

But you only need the Auto Index if you want to bury those galleries in categories. Otherwise, you can create galleries (using Highslide) and dump them directly into your /galleries/ folder.

This is well covered in the Beginner's tutorial, linked from the orientation page I shared with you earlier. Here's a direct link to that tutorial: http://theturninggate.net/2012/02/a-beg … using-ttg/

#3313 Re: General » Indented Text as Part of Block Copy? » 2013-01-05 23:50:16

Markdown doesn't do indenting. In fact, indenting is a bit of a bitch on the Web in general. You could try rapping your paragraph with style:

<p style="text-indent: 12px;">This paragraph will be indented.</p>

#3314 Re: General » Plugin purchase » 2013-01-05 23:47:30

Looks like you supplied us an erroneous email address. I've corrected the error and resent the order.

I have also removed your email from the message above to prevent it being harvested by spammers.

#3315 Re: General » Looking for a roadmap to start building my 1st website please » 2013-01-05 10:58:25

It used to be there was no documentation and we had the opposite problem, everyone being mad at not having all the information written down someplace ... :-P

#3316 Re: General » Looking for a roadmap to start building my 1st website please » 2013-01-05 03:12:35

Likely because you haven't followed our installation directions. First item in the "Docs" section, accessible from the menu.

#3317 Re: General » Looking for a roadmap to start building my 1st website please » 2013-01-04 22:16:37

Hi Desmond,

Some plugins only export pages as PHP and cannot be viewed locally in your browser (and therefore not using the Preview In Browser button). Some plugins export pages as PHP only under certain conditions, so whether or not you can preview those pages in the browser offline will depend upon your configuration ...

If you're hosting is setup and things are in the right place, then it will all work out online. If you need help getting to grips with FTP, we have a tutorial for that: http://wiki.theturninggate.net/doku.php … otocol_ftp

#3318 Re: General » Themes for TTG plugins » 2013-01-04 22:12:23

You can export saved templates and put them into a zip file for distribution. If I were going to setup a user-powered system for templates I would need to lay down some guidelines for creation, and would need to enable forum attachments unless users are willing to host them on their own space ...

#3319 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-04 11:45:58

I have reached out to my contacts on the Lightroom team and they have assured me they have no intention of removing the Web module.

As for Kelby, the man rides high on his ego. And while some of his books I think are suitable for absolute beginners, I think there's almost always a better book by someone else for most everyone else. For Lightroom 4 books, for example, I'd go for books by Martin Evening, Victoria Bampton and Piet Van den Eynde.

#3320 Re: General » Indented Text as Part of Block Copy? » 2013-01-03 23:23:50

The easiest way is probably to use empty HTML entities:

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; This text will be indented by five spaces.

#3321 Re: General » Looking for a roadmap to start building my 1st website please » 2013-01-03 19:40:09

Hi Desmond,

The best place to start is our beginner's tutorial:
http://theturninggate.net/orientation/

This covers site setup using TTG CE2 Pages and TTG CE2 Highslide Gallery.

You may also want to throw the new TTG CE2 Publisher into the mix. Though not covered in that tutorial, it's easy enough to add after getting to grips with those basics, and it's really a great way to manage your images moving forward.

#3322 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-03 10:39:58

Out of curiosity, in which of his books and on what page number does Kelby make this statement?

#3323 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-02 17:28:53

If it comes to that, I will consider looking into it. The big hurdle being that I have no idea how to create a standalone application. For now, it's a nonissue.

#3324 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-02 10:04:42

Keep in mind, though, that Scott Kelby is an idiot who's done nothing but disparage the Web module from day one. He doesn't use it, and that's his loss. He's got a guy on staff that does his web work for him, and from what I've seen Scott would be better off using the Web module, because I have not been impressed by his guy's work. And when he says that nothing has changed, in several versions, he's just dead wrong. The Web module saw major changes in LR3 and LR4, they were just under-the-hood for developers, and not so outward facing as in many other modules. I've seen no indication whatsoever that Adobe has any intention to abandon the Web module, and the consensus among my experts -- a group that Adobe itself has assembled, and of which Scott Kelby is not a part -- is that its a valuable piece of the application that many, many people have come to depend upon, with that number increasing daily.

#3325 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-01 22:03:06

I've not read that speculation, and have heard nothing from Adobe to indicate that would be the case. While the Web module is typically the least of Adobe's priorities for LR, I think it would be a poor decision on their part to drop it entirely. There are a lot of people who depend on it.
