Hi Paul, .htaccess files may crash a site if they attempt to set rules that aren't allowed by the web server. Can you copy and paste the contents of the file here? One strategy to finding the offending rule/s is to comment-out and un-comment-out lines by prepending them with a '#' symbol.
No worries Tony, enjoy! For some context, I'm about to hit the hay after spending 11 hours travelling from south Luzon to north Luzon island in the Philippines.
Hi Tony, I think you need to think outside the box a little. I say this as somebody who once used my own Linux bash scripts to rename, resize and send imported images to various places (including the small LCD screen on my iRiver MP3 Player). It was brilliant at the time, and had some advantages that packaged software can't bring to the table, but I'm glad that I moved on.
Was this a rhetorical question? "Would you run an FTP site with a thousand plus folders on a root folder and new entries on another root folder?" If not, then yes I would - other than a direct Internet connection, using FTP or otherwise, would you get your 1000+ folders up there?
There are two reasons that Publisher doesn't create albums at the root level. Firstly, that would require making your entire site writable by the web server, which raises serious security concerns. Secondly, should Publisher malfunction in an as-yet unknown way, then it can not cause damage outside of your designated galleries directories. Perhaps selfishly, we don't want that liability.
Is it security concerns that have you process your images and upload them on different machines? Publisher is now three years old, and has been used by many, many customers without a single security scare.
At some point, you'll need to meet us and Lightroom half way (or abandon Publisher, which would be unfortunate). That would most likely involve:
1) Maintaining a Lightroom catalogue
2) Publishing galleries to a sub-directory, such as 'galleries'
3) Connecting the machine that handles your photos to the Internet
For step 1), to do otherwise you are really fighting against the tool that is designed to help you.
For step 2), you could still maintain the content on your homepage by pointing your gallery links to the new URLs. For example, had your top-most gallery been exported with Publisher, the link might be http://www.tonygamble.org/galleries/Flowers_April_2015/
For step 3), that depends on the logistics and rationale for separating the PC that processes images from the Internet.
Hi Tony, are there any road-blocks in changing your workflow? It's a reasonable assumption that to create web galleries that your PC actually be on the web.
Catalogues are also central to the use of Lightroom. Without them you're rendering LR to be little more than an image viewer (if even that). The Publisher settings, album structure and contents of the galleries, are all stored in the catalogue. This isn't just our approach, but integral to the way that Lightroom functions.
Correct. A work-around would be to manage your galleries on your local machine, running a web server such as WAMP or MAMP, and to use FTP software to synchronise key directories. I can advise in more detail if that approach sounds reasonable to you.
Idea to self: make the Cart URL optional, and only required should the cart installation be in a non-standard location. The CE4 CRG plugin doesn't need a 'CRG URL', as CRG galleries automatically locate it based on directory naming conventions (i.e. ttg-be/crg/ at some point up the URL hierarchy).
We don't have metrics on how customers install the cart, so can't assume that all customers have it setup at the standard location. Hence requiring a Cart URL field to at least be available.
Hi Patrick, I'm not able to check this on a computer at the moment. Are you running the latest versions of both Publisher and the Cart? I made a code change to the cart to work around this issue a while back.
This shouldn't be related to MAMP - I develop the cart, publisher and CRG on a Mac using MAMP.
Double-click the album in the publish services, navigate to the 'Integration' tab and see whether Enable Feedback is selected.
Hi Bernd, you need to have your host change you from PHP 4 to PHP 5.
There is a very good reason I keep asking whether you are running the latest version. Not running the latest Publisher is the most likely culprit as CRG relies on functions only available in the latest version. Have you worked out the solution?
Are you running the latest version of Publisher?
Make sure that you are running the latest version of Publisher.
Hi Jon, it sounds like you need a bespoke solution for your particular requirements.
This feature would require considerable changes made to both Publisher and CRG.
1) A way for Publisher to communicate that images should be selected
2) A way for CRG to read in these values and pre-populate feedback for a given gallery before the client provides any feedback
Is the issue that they are not in order? There is no ordering imposed on that list. I'd be more surprised that the item numbers were in order than not.
Could not use gmail direct for some reason.
Bluehost doesn't allow sending via SMTP. Luckily the Bluehost 'mail' function works well. See my earlier reply.
1) What is the login for the Lena gallery?
2) Can we provide test feedback to try and get a better look at the underlying error?
If using Bluehost's email, make sure that the address you're using as the vendor/sending address is set up as an account in your Bluehost control panel. That doesn't mean you need to use the email address with Bluehost, but rather tells Bluehost that the address exists. Emails sent will then have the email address correctly set and will be more likely to get through.
Hi, was Chrome the first browser you were trying this in? If so, you may need to visit this link in your browser to reset the cart from the customer's perspective: http://damiphotography.com/ttg-be/cart/?a=reset
I can have a look at this if you set me up with ftp access and send the details using the Email link under my name.
Hi, log in to your TTG Be admin, then in the CRG section look for Localisations under the settings menu. You should be able to edit those fields for the configured language.
Hi Bernhard, regarding the cart, it looks like the files at Ttg-be/cart are from CE2 version of the cart. Is that right? The CE4 products can only work with the CE4 cart.
I'm not sure what's wrong with the file permissions. I haven't seen such an error before. Can you provide me with FTP access so that I can try and work out what's wrong? If so, please send the login details to my email using the Email link under my name. Hopefully I'll be able to pinpoint the issue quickly so you can get your site up and running.
Hi Martin, there are no keyboard shortcuts. Is this something that should work out he grid or on the large photo? If the former then there would need to be a way to focus on a particular item so the intended item gets selected.
I see that your product is named "1.5". Can you try to rename that product to a word rather than a number?
The lock had expired.
