#2 Backlight 2 Support » Warning Message: Can't update this collection » 2019-11-10 07:49:36

When I try to publish from Lightroom changes to my galleries, I get the message:

Warning
Can't update this collection.
Unable to perform action: getSetupForTemplate
Message: The page sent an action that was not available.

I have never seen this message before and have not had any issues publishing changes to my galleries from Lightroom. I am running the most current version of Lightroom Classic. I haven't made any changes to my Lightroom publish settings or my website for many months. I am running the most current version of Backlight 2

It has been several months since I uploaded new images to my gallery. The only thing that I have changed in the last few months regarding my website is that a month or so ago I added the SSL certificate to the site. This went smoothly.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to correct this problem so that I can resume publishing new photos to my galleries?

I purchased the SSL Certificate from my host provider, GoDaddy, who installed it. I then followed Rod Barbee's instructions:

You first need a SSL certificate from your host. Once they install that, go to Backlight Settings and change the site (and company url if they’re the same) and the Wordpress url if using WordPress, so that they start with https:// rather than http://. Then, still in Settings, go to the Privacy section and redirect browsers to https

Everything seems to work. Now when I go to my website, the web address is https://sweetlightgallery.com/  and Google doesn't flag my site as unsecured.

Two questions:

1. GoDaddy has involved instructions for modifying my .htaccess file to automatically redirect your visitors to the HTTPS version of your website. I assume that I do not have to make these file modifications? I assume following Rod's instructions took care of this. Am I correct in my understanding?

2. GoDaddy has provided code that needs to be pasted into my site footer, which will display my SSL Certificate security seal. Where do I find the footer field where I can paste this code in my BL2 Administration settings?

Thanks for your help

In BL administration, I enabled two factor authentication, thinking that when I tried logging into my BL admin, I would be prompted for a code texted to my mobile phone. Instead when I try to log in to my BL admin, I get the following message:

Hmmm...can’t reach this page

What is happening? I do I correct this?

Thanks for the link. I just updated my site to BL 2.0.5. You mention it is now super easy to implement SSL on my site? How do I do this?

I use BL2 to create and manage my website. Recently my hosting service, GoDaddy, has been pressuring me to add SSL to my website. They say that a hacker could modify my site so that when someone click's the "Secure Check Out" button on my cart page, the purchaser would be taken to a fake paypal site.

Is this possible?
How likely?
Will adding the SSL feature stop a hacker from doing this?
Is there another way to protect my site from possible hackers?

Norton Safe Web says my site is safe. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

#8 Re: Backlight 2 Support » How to move LR albums to new computer LR install? » 2018-12-08 01:57:42

Ken

Thanks Rod, I had exported my LR catalog, minus previews, and moved it to the new computer. After reading your response, I went ahead and just copied the entire catalog file including previews and moved this over to the new computer. Now all of my Backlight Albums are present in LR on my new computer. Thanks for your help.

I purchased a new computer and installed LR and the LR publisher. On my previous computer I had created a number of TTG Publisher Albums. I would like to transfer these over to my new LR installation on my new computer. It would save a lot of time not having to recreate all of these albums and populate them with the many photos that I publish to my Backlight website.

I would greatly appreciate any help on how to accomplish this.

#10 Backlight 2 Support » How to include multiple media on single page using the Theater add-on » 2018-09-24 23:15:10

I have created a Pangolin Theater album template. I have created a page that incorporates this album and linked it to a youtube video. I want to have more than one video included on this page plus additional images. I have explored album sets and various settings, but can not figure out how to accomplish what I want. Can anyone point me to the specific steps required to accomplish what I want.

I have done exactly what I want using a standard page utilizing CSS script. I thought the Theater add-on might allow me to simplify or have more control over creating a media page. So far I can not figure out how to duplicate my media page using the Theater add-on.

I have a table on one of my web pages. In BL1 the table had alternating colored rows. When I upgraded to BL2, the table rows no longer display color. I specified in the page template, typography, tables, alternating colors for the rows. The border color works but not the rows. I assumed, apparently incorrectly, that the table-striped even odd settings controlled the row colors. Any ideas on how to control the row colors?

#13 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Mobile Page display problem » 2018-09-22 22:55:50

I had used the responsive grid on two of my pages to create columns. I was thinking, why not use the multi-column layout to accomplish the same thing.

So the nav menu is attached to the first pallet, even in a single column layout?

I created a 2 column page template, right positioned 240 px wide pallet. When viewed on a mobile phone display, the text in the right positioned pallet is not visible. I set the breakpoint to 1440 px, thinking this might solve the problem, but it didn't. The mobile display is 720 X 1280. The problem exists when viewing this page on a desktop display in Chrome when using the developer tools to mimic different mobile display sizes. The odd thing is the right pallet text shows up at the bottom of the mobile style menu. This is visible on both my mobile phone display and in the desktop chrome developer tools mobile display.

When viewed on a mobile display, shouldn't the second text pallet wrap below the main text area? It is very odd having it show up in the mobile display menu.

Here is the link to my website page exhibiting this behavior

Thanks for checking. Everything seems to be working now from LR side. Authentication checked out. Interesting, apparently you re-setting the API URL in BL Settings, corrected the problem. I had already done this, but I must have made a mistake. Happy it is working and thanks for your help. Now I can play around with the new Pangolin page layout options.

I upgraded to BL2. My Lightroom is using TTG CE4 Publisher. This worked with BL1. I redesigned my website, changing from the Okapi Page to Pangolin Page. Everything seemed to work fine except for my albums. So I decided to reinstall the LR plugin, using the Admin Backlight Module, I downloaded the plugin and reinstalled it in LR. I am running into a number of issues with my albums:

1. After reinstalling the LR plugin, I try to authenticate the API key. I get the message "The authentication was not successful, please check the URL and API. I double checked the API key, the LR key and the key under BL2 Admin Settings are identical. I am using the URL that the installation instructions say to use: http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight/publisher/  I notice, when I checked my website directory structure, there is no publisher folder under backlight. This would seem to be the problem. Am I missing something? The BL LR publisher installation instructions state "The API URL will be http://yourdomain.com/backlight/publisher". How can this work, there is no publisher subfolder?

I checked my BL Admin modules and it shows Publisher 4.02 installed. Also, after reading another thread regarding LR publisher, I am not hosting my own server. I am using GoDaddy hosting service, a widely used hosting service. Also the .htaccess file is present in my backlight folder. Also, both read and write permissions are authorized for this file. The other thread may answered my above question. The .htaccess file somehow directs the publisher to the correct location?

I am confused, why can I not authenticate the API key. Also, I notice that after entering the API key in the BL Admin settings, save it, when I click to edit it, the key has disappeared even though I saved it. Is this normal?

Please Help

#18 Backlight 2 Support » BL2 Help page or Glossary? » 2018-09-19 11:29:21

I am redesigning my website using the BL2 Pangolin Pages. Is there a resource, web page, pdf etc that explains what some of the template design terminology refers to? Right now, it pretty much trial and error, I make a change in a setting, then view the page in the browser and see what changed. Usually it is not what I was thinking, then I go back and try something else. Gradually by trial and error and I figure out what controls what. If anyone has created a screen shot of the template design page sections explaining what each setting does, this would be a wonderful help. For example I have searched for a description of what a Pallet is, and have not found any information. Even a glossary of terms would be helpful.

Thanks for your help. When you get a chance to look at the page, I look forward to hearing what you discover. The CSS worked fine with BL1, so I am not sure why it is not working with BL2.

#20 Re: Backlight 2 Support » How to change navigation layout? » 2018-09-17 23:18:12

Even using Navigation, Header does not allow the navigation menu to be aligned with the masthead text. Left align just aligns the navigation menu with the left page edge. It doesn't give a padding setting, which is why I including padding in the CSS script (see below). This all worked under BL1, but not under BL2. Is there anyway to align the navigation so it is flush aligned with the masthead?

What is a Okapi based template? How do I change my template to something else?

#23 Re: Backlight 2 Support » How to change navigation layout? » 2018-09-17 23:00:22

Rod, I sent you an email with the screen capture of my navigation settings.

Rod, My BL2 Navigation settings are not the same as yours. My settings only has the first two settings that yours shows and then below that it is completely different. I took a screen shot, but do not know how to include it in the post.
