I am still using Backlight 1.2.2 where image swiping on Win10 works. I have been waiting to upgrade but I am waiting for swiping of images to work again on my Surface running Win10 with Edge browser.
Andrew, in your previous post above about this subject you stated that you will bring this problem up to the Fancybox authors. I just checked the Backlight 2 examples on the TTG website and it still is not fixed. Do you have a timetable when image swipe will work again on the latest version of Backlight?
Thanks,
Franz

I am migrating to a new DT computer. I think I have a handle on how to migrate LR and PS data/image files. I am running Backlight (without Worpress) and would like to know if there are any Backlight specific files that need to be migrated?
Thank you Matthew for following up on this. Hope the Fancybox author can add this feature.
The iPad is a Mobile device and works like smart phone. On my Surface, swiping to the next image no longer works. With Fancybox you have to touch the "Next/Previous" arrows to advance to the next image.
Thanks Rod, that works.
However, I preferred Photoswipe because it supported touch swipe on Win10 running on computers/laptops/tablets with touch screens. It seems that the Fancybox no longer supports this.
I am in the process learning the new features in Pangolin before I design/replace my current life Backlight website. When running my prototype Pangolin website I noticed a different viewer rendering the images. It seems this viewer runs inline to the Page whereas my current life viewer is rendered on a new dedicated viewing page. Any idea why this is happening?
My prototype site URL: http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/FZP_Test_Pangolin/
My life website URL: http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/
Thanks - No Problem.
Another question: As part of the Theater Add-on, can I use the "Vegas Slideshow" as slideshow in my Home page, similar to what I have currently implemented through the Daniel Leu Home Page Slideshow Script?
http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/
Is there a way to "Clone" my existing Backlight 1.1.1 Templates (Page, Album Set and Album) into Pangolin Templates?
Thank you Rod, I am about to start to experimenting with the Pangolin Pages. Just FYI, after a stupid mistake on my side (see above)
I successfully upgraded the SW to 1.2.2 and all is fine. TTG did a fantastic job with this upgrade and I am very happy about this.
Thanks Ben for the quick and to the point response.
I did run a file compare on the "Modules" directory on the Server and SURE ENOUGH I neglected to re-upload the backlight/modules/module-pages
and backlight/modules/okapi-core folder after I deleted the "old" ones.
All is fine and needless to say I feel MUCH better.
I upgraded my Version 1.1.1 to Version 2.2.2 per instructions in the blog including steps "3", "4", "5". I think all of that was successful. However, my website is no longer working (Unable to find index page.). When I visit the my Page Template in the designer and select "Design" I get the following message:
DOMDocument::xinclude() [domdocument.xinclude]: I/O warning : failed to load external entity "/home1/franzzih/public_html/backlight/modules/okapi-core/xml/languages.xml" in XMLHelper.php on line 25
In your response in the previous message above you recommend creating a new Pangolin page but my limited understanding fails me to follow your instructions. All I want to accomplish is for my current website to work again as it was before in 1.1.1, i.e. use my current Page, Album Set and Album Templates.
Can you help me to get out of the mess I created?
Thanks Rod, I think I got it.
To clarify, in your reply you state "To update your pages, albums, etc. to the new Pangolin designs, you'll create new Pangoline page album, and album set templates and assign them to current pages, albums, and album sets"
Besides executing the upgrade instructions Step "3" and "4" in the blog is there anything explicit I need to do to ".......and assign them to current pages, albums, and album sets"?
I just want to be very carful and not mess up my site
I would like to upgrade my current life Backlight + Pages Release 1.1.1 website to Release 1.2.2. In the changelog I read the following step "1" instructions:
Remove and re-upload the following files and directories:
-backlight/admin/
-backlight/designer/
-backlight/publisher/
-backlight/modules/okapi-core/
-backlight/modules/pangolin-album/
-backlight/modules/pangolin-album-set/
-backlight/modules/pangolin-page/
-TTG-Publisher.lrplugin
It further instructs the Step "2" and "3" to compete the upgrade steps.
Question: Just to make sure, if I follow these steps above, will my website continue be functioning as it currently does before the upgrade?
My current life website: http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/
If there are further upgrade instructions, where would I find them?
Thanks Matthew. I love wildlife photography and capture their behavior, character, interaction with each other and their environment.
Rod, you have done it again-Thank you! It works great. My QA department is VERY happy......=)
I was just thinking about that because there is no text associated with the tiles. I browsed around to find some examples for such a situation and found one. Daniel Leu implemented something that actually is very nice...have look at:
http://danielleu.com/projects/light-painting/
Thanks Rod, just implemented your suggested solution on Album tiles - Works great, thanks!
Any idea about a solution for the masonry image tiles with no text?
Finally re-implemented my CE3 based website on Backlight. What a difference in ease-of-use and productivity with the TTG Backlight development environment! De-coupling the Designer from LR makes designing a website so much faster. Thank you, Matthew!
I consider my new website a Version 1.0 (read: feature incomplete, rough edges and buggy). Blog integration and image purchase capability still need to be moved over. I had a sense of urgency to get the basic website functionality on-line because my old CE3 site did not function well on modern mobile devices like iPads and smartphones. In structure, my new site is very similar to old one because I did not see anything wrong with it.
A very special “Thank you” to Rod Barbee for his quick and actionable answers to my questions on the TTG community forum. Further, his “TTG Tips and Tricks” website was indispensable. I also feel indebted to the many people who trail blazed a Backlight development pass before me. Their posts/answers on the forum and new Backlight based websites gave me input to my development process. Also, a special thanks to Daniel Leu – I lifted the home page slideshow script from his blog “Adding a Slideshow to Backlight Based Pages”.
The QA department (my wife) thinks that the website is in pretty good shape. Her main complaint is that there is no “hover” on the Album and Image tiles. At current time, I did not find a way to implement this.
What is the best practice to insert one or two static images into, for example the Information Page. Ideally I just would like to paste the image into the Markdown text in the Page Copy and not use an URL. How would I do that?
Where could I find some information on setting up the Search function...did not find any in the documentation.
In the "Album Set Setup" under "Thumbnails" I chose Masonry. I want to increase the size of the thumbnail. When I change the "Max-width per Column" the size of the thumbnail does not change. Any idea why?
Thanks Rod, that works fine! How can I create a second indexed Gallery on the top level. In my current (http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/) website I have two indexed galleries:
- Galleries, and
- Annemarie's Gallery
I noticed that Pages allows me only one top level item to be indexed. Any workaround?
I currently run the TTG CE3 Publisher on LightroomCC for my production website. Can I install the TTG Backlight Publisher as my second publisher. With other words, will the two TTG publishers co-exist on Lightroom?
Rod and Matthew, thanks for your feedback. I will start experimenting with Backlight and I am sure I will have plenty of questions.....stay tuned...:) My current plan is to go straight from CE3 to Backlight.
Shucks, Rod you have taken away my last excuse to upgrade my stale C3 based website... love your new website, very nice work!
Questions:
1. Noticed that there are no Caption descriptions on your images. I thought you had them on your previous implantation? Would it possible to include captions?
2. Is your new website an “out-of-the-box” Backlight implementation? Specifically, did you use any kind of programming or other fancy footwork?
3. I basically would like to “duplicate” my current website:
http://franzzihlmannphoto.com/
Using Backlight and Pages (plus Wordpress for the Blog section) can I re-implement the same structure and similar look?
4. One of the big problems of my current website is the rendering on mobile devices, like iPad and iPhone. (I do not own these devices). Does a Backlight website work well on these devices?
5. I assume, because I am currently running C3, it will be a complete manual re-implantation?
Thanks for your help.
