Thanks, done.
Let me know what you find!
Stay safe and well.

So, tried what you suggested, Rod... here's what I've done.
1. Made all the jpgs the same size (1000px longest dimension) except for one test image that's much larger. No extraneous periods in the filenames. "Caption" put in the caption metadata.
2. Created a new pangolin galleria album template, set the ratio to 3:1 x:y, set the image size to maximum (2048px).
3. Cleared cache, republished from LR, updated albums.
Viewed on the desktop:
http://noticeofproposedlanduseaction.or … struction/
A. The images are not as large as the screen space should allow. In fact, no matter how I change the image size (image rendition, photo width/height in template) the size of the images on the screen doesn't change. Even after clearing the cache and republishing again.
B. The "caption" appears to the left of the image. On mobile android, the caption is superimposed on the left side of the image.
I'm honestly at my wits end, after spending more than 2 full days trying to get it right. Maybe someone would like to look inside the admin side of the site? Or should I trash the whole site and start fresh?
Thanks
Michael
All of these suggestions have been VERY helpful. Thank you!
I've got it close to what I want, with one last issue. If you look at this gallery on a desktop monitor:
http://www.noticeofproposedlanduseactio … struction/
The photo sits at the bottom of the page, with lots of room at top. I could potentially make the image larger if I could somehow move it up to occupy some of the white space between the title and the image.
Suggestions?
Thanks Rod,
I've shrunk the image renditions in the album template, then emptied the cache, and republished from LR with the metadata box unchecked.
No change in the image sizes, which still spill off the page.
I'm happy with the rest of the design, but for the life of me, I can't find an adjustment that makes the photo smaller on the page.

Thank you Matt - I've figured out that the aspect ratio adjusts the length of the page. But even when I adjust the aspect ratio, the photos in the gallery remain bigger than the screen and are cut off at top or bottom. Where do I control the size of the images? In which template type, under which option? I've really tried everything, including resizing the images in lightroom before publishing.
I'm committed to Backlight, and am hoping to upgrade to BL 3, as soon as I can get everything looking the way I want it in BL 2.
Michael
This is the page:
http://noticeofproposedlanduseaction.or … struction/
It's a pangolin galleria album in BL2. The page is very long from top to bottom, yet the bottom half is more or less empty (you have to scroll way down to see the misplaced copy that should be at the top). Furthermore, the photo is framed too large to fit on one screen, making the viewer scroll up and down. I'd like the photo is fit on the screen, but I can't seem to find the menus to control this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Michael
Awesome -- I figured that part out. All of my templates are okapi. How can I transfer/copy all the characteristics of these pages to new pangolin pages, or at least the single core okapi page I use for most of my site, if I don't need to convert the rest...
Thanks so much, from a fellow Washingtonian sheltering in place!
Michael
So I've purchased and installed the galleria module. But when I go to create a new album template, the only "type" choice available to me is OKAPI. I'm not sure how to take advantage of the galleria add-on features.
What am I doing wrong?
The website is noticeofproposedlanduseaction.org. I recently updated it to Backlight 2.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm having difficulty controlling the font size and positioning of titles for my photographs in galleries.
http://www.noticeofproposedlanduseactio … d=1&pid=14
Currently the title is in a small font, and not centered under the photo - but I can't figure out where the font characteristics and positioning are determined. The copy is pulled from the "caption" field of the metadata.
Any help would be appreciated.
Michael
Thanks - in which of the myriad menus can I find the control of their color??
Michael
www.noticeofproposedlanduseaction.org/contact
I've just updated to BL2, and the contact form has no labels. I can't figure out where they've gone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

How do I install the new version of Backlight Pangolin, without messing up my existing websites?
Thanks
Michael
On my pages, there's the typical navigation tray underneath the title: "portfolios", "contact", "about". When the cursor hovers over them, the background color turns to bright yellow, drowning out the letters.
How do I control this change in background color when someone hovers? I've searched in every menu, without success.

Unsolved... if I switch from the "mail" option to SMTP, I get the following error message on my site:
Something went wrong
fsockopen(): unable to connect to ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465 (Connection timed out) in SMTP.php on line 121
mail: mail (if I use smtp here, I get an error msg from my contact page, but with the setting of "mail" no error message, but no email arrives either)
smtp host: smtp.gmail.com
smtp username: michael.sobel@gmail.com
smtp passw: my gmail password
smtp port: 465
smtp sec protoc: ssl
That's it. Does my web site host need to be involved, or configured at all?
Thanks for any help...
M.
What are the elements I need to set up for someone to email me through my contacts page? Currently, emails sent to my gmail acct from my contact page never arrive.
I have a gmail account, and I'd like to receive the contact messages through that account. Do I also need to have email configured at my hosting site, even though I'm using gmail? I don't currently have any email set up on the host.
Any help would be appreciated, as this is not intuitive.
Michael
Thanks! Very helpful.
1. While I'm making progress with my home page and the galleries (portfolios) page.... once I click into a specific portfolio, the thumbnails are all screwed up. I've tried everything to no avail. The site is michaelsobel.photo
2. Second question - how can I make my thumbnails bigger on my home page, and the portfolios page?
Thanks in advance
Michael
