#2 Re: Backlight 2 Support » sitemap.xml and image indexing » 2020-05-12 12:10:09

I may have figured out a part of it. Recently I changed my "Company URL" and "Site URL" from  https://bretculp.com to https://www.bretculp.com in Backlight. Is there something more I need to do to propagate the update?

Hello,

I just updated my sitemap.xml using one of the free tools available on the web. My previous sitemap, created last July, contained all of the images on my site. The updated sitemap only contains the album pages and one individual image. My site uses https:// I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but the old sitemap with all of the images also used https. I tried running the sitemap generator after setting the "Automatically Redirect Browsers To https" to both yes and no with the same result.

My website is www.bretculp.com. Any ideas would be really appreciated.

I finally updated from Backlight to Backlight 2.  One problem I'm encountering is that  ttg_masthead_top, ttg_footer_top, possibly my entire custom PHP file is not working.

Here is the code for my  ttg_masthead_top.  Do I need to turn something new off?  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bret

function ttg_masthead_top( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
       <div id="title_box" style="text-align: center">
        <div id="title">
          <h1 style="text-align: center"><a href="/"><span class="style2">Bret Culp</span> <span class="style2L">Visual Effects Supervisor</span></a></h1><a href="/"></a>

          <h2 style="text-align: center"><a href="/"><span class="style4">VFX Supervisor/Producer, Director, Fine Art Photographer</span></a></h2>
        </div>
      </div>
    ';
    return false;
}

OK.  My webhost, Bravenet.com, upgraded the site PHP from 5.6.x to 7.3.x yesterday.  I was able to deprecate it back to 7.0.x for the time being and I can get into my admin again.  Anything above 7.0.x doesn't work.

Here is the note from Bravenet.

"Dear Bravenet FTP Hosting Customer

This is a final reminder that we have a scheduled upgrade for your your PHP version in your Bravehost FTP hosting account from PHP version 5.6.x to 7.3.x on July 23, 2019. Most modern PHP scripts (such as WordPress, Joomla!, etc) run great on the PHP 7.3.x platform, however we recommend you test this for yourself before the scheduled change.

If you need additional time, This upgrade can be deferred by 8 weeks from today by clicking the Defer link under the Web Hosting tab on your account.

You can test out your own site by setting your account to PHP version 7.3.x using the directions below:

- Login to your Bravenet account
- Click on the "Web Hosting" tab near the top of the page
- Click on "Select PHP Version"
- Select version 7.3.x from the dropdown
- Click on "Change Version"

After this change, please verify your site to look for issues that may need to be resolved before the official change to 7.3.x.

If you have any questions or concerns, please open a support ticket at https://www.bravenet.com/help/.

Thanks for using Bravenet,

The Bravenet Team"

I'm having the same problem.  I believe I'm on Backlight 123 release 7.  How do I update to Backlight 2 when I don't have admin access?

#8 Re: Backlight Support » Social Media sharing » 2018-10-29 00:51:06

Thank you once again, Matthew.  I had changed the transition speeds and must have inadvertently removed that code.  It has been restored and works perfectly.

#9 Re: Backlight Support » Social Media sharing » 2018-10-28 00:46:46

I"ve investigated further and for some reason, there are two sharing buttons on my large image pages. See the attached image.  The sharing button circled in red doesn't work properly, as outlined above, and the one in blue works properly.

Any idea where the extra share button is coming from?

Hello,

I think something must be incorrectly set or configured for social media sharing of my photographs. Here's what happens for each of Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Facebook: If I try to share a specific photo on Facebook it used the thumbnail of the gallery, not the specific image
Twitter: Currently doesn't show any preview or thumbnail of the image
Pinterest: Seems to work showing the correct specific thumbnail image

Note that in the past the social media sharing link to the discreet individual page, which I was told is by design.  Currently, the link takes you to the on-the-fly generated page.  Therefore I'm not sure if this is behaving correctly.

Here is a link to one of my galleries.  http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/010-rec … o-gallery/

Thanks for your help,

#12 Re: Backlight Support » Galleria question » 2018-07-05 10:43:06

I removed the table and all seems to be well now.  I still find it weird that a table would prevent Galleria form working.

#13 Re: Backlight Support » Galleria question » 2018-07-05 10:32:13

The problem seems to be in the page copy I've added.  When I remove the page copy it works without the calls.

The following seems to be the offending part of the page copy, specifically the Table.  I know it's a bit old school but it has been a long migration and is due for an update.  Any idea why this would prevent the Galleria addon form running?

<div id="bottom_wrapper_homepage">

Yes, those are all exactly my points, Rod.

Here is a link to a test galleria page without my added JQuery or the Galleria php call.  http://www.bretculp.com/gallery/tg/

Hi All,

I've got an odd one here.  On my pre-Pangolin site, I used Galleria on my homepage with a specific call to the javascript in the header section of my custom php.  Since then I've updated to Pangolin and added the Galleria addon package so I can easily use my albums for a homepage Galleria slideshow.  It's currently working but I realized that I still had that old code in my custom PHP file.  The strange thing is that when I remove the code the Galleria addon doesn't work anymore.

Here is the custom php code I'm using.  If I remove either line it no longer works.  I'm also thinking that this may be why Galleria is behaving a bit odd on some of my mobile devices.

function ttg_head( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/galleria/galleria-1.2.9.min.js"></script>
    ';
    return true;
}

My website is at www.bretculp.com

Am I missing something obvious?  Any insights will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
bret

#16 Re: Backlight Support » Galleria fullscreen on mobile devices » 2018-06-19 23:22:29

Also, the navigation arrows don't disappear on my iPad Pro.  They don't appear on my iPhone.  However, on my iPhone the fullscreen mode size is messed up, big space under control bar before image and image is cut off below.

I have attached two screen captures from my iPad.  The first shows the fullscreen behaviour and the second the navigation arrow.

Does anybody have any insight?

I may be missing something small or obvious, but I'm using the Galleria template on my home/index page.  On a mobile device the fullscreen mode is contained within the page content, meaning the masthead, menu, etc., are still visible.  On non-mobile devices it works perfect.  I've tried on an iPhone 8 iPad Pro and Android 7" tablet.  Note that I've inserted the Galleria "Album" into my home page set as "Above the Content".

My homepage is here: http://www.bretculp.com/

Thanks, Daniel.  That worked like a charm.

I'm finding that the caption box is overlapping my photos under most circumstances in the Photo Presentation, see the attached image.
Fancybox-caption-wrap-ref.jpg.

If I change the height of .fancybox-caption-wrap it becomes a fixed size and obviously doesn't respond the the bottom right arrow to show more, if need be.

I'm sure there is better way to control the height of the caption box.

#21 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-15 08:12:11

Thanks, Guys.  I've got everything styled and working except the zoom.  www.bretculp.com/test1

Rod, what are the Pangolin class selectors I should add the animation css to in Pangolin?

#22 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-14 07:09:04

FWIW, I even like the way the previous version scaled up, as a default style.

#23 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-14 07:05:57

Yes, I did see that.

So it seems that I have to do complete fresh styling to make it look like the template default from the pre-Pangolin version, which is very close to my look of: http://www.bretculp.com/test2.  Is that correct?  The previous version used template defaults and Pangolin does not?  Is there a reason for that?  I'm just trying to understand why the difference.

#24 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-14 06:29:53

I tried Rod's version too.  It works but I love the default styling of the page you first sent me to because it's really close to my look.  Is there a way to use the default styling with the Rod code?

Again, the difference is seen here: http://www.bretculp.com/test1 vs here http://www.bretculp.com/test2, which is what I'm hoping for.  It would be a drag to restyle the new popup to look like the old when the old one is what I want.  Make sense?

#25 Re: Backlight Support » Last Pangolin migration issue (I think ;) » 2018-06-14 06:12:15

I've tried the code that Daniel pointed to here: http://backlight.theturninggate.net/?page=mfp  It works with my pre-Pangolin template but not Pangolin.

See Pangolin test here: http://www.bretculp.com/test1
See pre-Pangolin here: http://www.bretculp.com/test2

What am I doing wrong?
