#1 Backlight 2 Support » Paradox 404! » 2018-12-12 12:23:21

Had to put this down for a few weeks and just came back to it to publish a new album. The album shows up in publisher and contains the metadata and appears to contain the photos but I get a Paradox 404! error when I try to view it. When I go to edit the album there are place holders for the images but the images are not there.

Cheers,
Bob.

The culprit were some curly quotes.  But now to my other question:

1. Is there actually Documentation that goes through each item in the software? All I have seen are overviews of modules.

Use html to place any inline images on pages

So I still have not Figured this out.  I have published albums named 'about' and 'contact' with only one photo in each.  At first I assumed that I would then just place these albums on the respective pages but do not want the thumbnail 'clickable' and want it larger, neither of which I could figure out.  Then, on your suggestion above, I realised that the photo is in a directory that I could just link to but my code below must be messed up and I have tried all combinations of what directory to start with.

     <img src=”/www.robertametcalfe.com/public_html/newsite/galleries/about/photos/DSC_7791.jpg”>

I also see that in the About template under photo presentation there is a presentation type with an option for single-image pages.  What does this mean?  (Is there actually Documentation that goes through each item in the software?  All I have seen are overviews of modules which are not very helpful).

That presentation doesn’t display thumbnails.

Thumbnails are under Image Renditions in all album templates, it’s just part of the module. And thumbnails are still used for display in album sets.

So was there functionality in CE4 that is not available in BL2?  It would be frustrating if we cannot replicate our CE4 website using BL2, as a start.  I went back to the Galleria module which gives me the filmstrip on the bottom but not the slide effect I had previously with CE4.

Try the Theater Filmstrip presentation

Ok, the Theater Filmstrip with the slideLeft2 option gets me part way there although I miss the slide fade effect (any way of getting this added?).  Also, I cannot figure out how to get a filmstrip of thumbnails to show below.  Thumbnails are listed under image renditions but I cannot see where to turn them on.

The eye icon indicates that this is a hidden album and it is only visible while you are logged in as admin. Open the gallery in a different browser or log out and you will notice that the hidden album is indeed hidden. I would select the 'hide from search' flag as well since you don't want this album to be found when searching your site. It is next to the 'hide from album set' flag.

Thanks Daniel.

Just create a Galleria album as you normally would. If you don’t want it appearing on the Galleries page then hide it. I believe the checkbox for that is under the Features Tab in the Lightroom Publisher Create/Edit Album dialogue, just like in CE4 Publisher.

In your Index Page, use the Insert Album feature to place your Galleria album on the page.

The transition from CE4 to BL2 continues slowly...

Where should I place the album that will contain the images that will appear in my Galleria slideshow on my Index page?  Do I need to create another top-level gallery and place this album here? Or is there a way of identifying that an album in the default "Galleries" should not appear in the Default Galleries page.  Essentially, where should the photos be placed that are associated with the index, contact, and about pages that used to be published together in CE4?

Also, in CE4 I used Galleria to produce a filmstrip that had images sliding and fading in from the right and out to the left. This was referred to as  Fadeslide in the settings.  Where is this option now?  I thought I had my addons mixed up and just purchased Theatre but is doesn't seem to be there either.

Cheers,
Bob.

So I just purchased the Galleria add on which showed up in my BL modules which I then installed.  I suspect installation instructions that came as a download for the purchase were for a previous installation method? But now what?  I go to Designer -Templates - Album Templates - Create Template -  But I am not allowed to change the Type, it is pre-set for "Pangolin Album Set".

Any help greatly appreciated.

If you are using Publisher in CE4, then Albums and Album Sets can be migrated to Backlight. If you are not using Publisher you will need to re-create those galleries and autoindexes as albums and album sets.

You will need to redesign your site; there is no way to migrate design settings from one platform (CE4) to another (Backlight)

What, specifically, do you want to know?

I’ve created a couple of posts about moving from CE4 to Backlight.
One for if you’re using Publisher: http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … backlight/
And one for if you were exporting and uploading galleries: http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … backlight/

Thanks Rod. The Publisher link was perfect. I only wish that I had come across it sooner.

Cheers,
Bob.

Thanks Rod,

Yes, I was using Publisher in CE4.  I tried the "Migrate Albums from CE4" in BL2 but I got the following error for three of the albums:

Something went wrong

The album with id 194251 could not be found in GalleryDelegate.php on line 91

I will now explore the links you provided.

Cheers,
Bob.

Could anyone point me in the direction of any overviews for those of us upgrading from CE4 to BL2?  I just want the basic differences between the workflow of the two.  For instance I am just about to start copying and pasting the text I had in CE4 Pages in Lightroom over to BL2's Designer Pages because it seems like Lightroom is only used to produce Galleries and not Pages content.

This upgrade is starting to feel like previous TTG upgrades but I am hoping I just missed some information along the way.

Cheers,
Bob.

I have not done much with my webpage for a while and every time I get back into TTG CE4 I am surprised how much I forgot.  Muddling through the documentation I got most of it done albeit for one outstanding issue.  I created a page (CE4 Stage) so I could have another Galleria Slide show but now I have to edit the existing gallery pages so the new page link shows up in the masthead (i am not using php). I have a Gallery Template that I created and thought it would be as easy as editing the Navigation Hyperlinks, exporting, and copying the files in the root of the exported folder to my server.  Obviously I am missing something as the files in the root of the exported gallery folder do not match up with the files where I thought they should go on the server.  What am I missing?

Also, is it possible to use publisher for manage the photos in the new page that I created with Stage?

Cheers,

Robert.

Is it possible to have a background colour for the content block but not the Breadcrumbs?  Seems like the are both affected by the same option.

I am establishing my first gallery template for publisher.  I have created a CE4 Gallery with my preferences and exported it from Lightroom 6.  I am curious to why you would move the entire gallery folder to ttg-be/templates/gallery to create your template when it also contains all the images?  Wouldn't you just need the files used to render the structure of the page and then Publisher fills the content (images) subsequently?

I am just working on it and want to sort it all out before posting.  I am going with the icons under the navigation bar for now and will revisit this once posted.  So I may get back to you !

Upgrading to CE4 from earlier, but not recent, versions of TTG.  On my home page I have a Galleria slideshow.  So in the filmstrip I have the photos that I want in my slide show followed by the images that I want to appear on my info and contact pages etc.  For the latter, I use the position in the film strip for the "Get image by ID" criteria.  It seems that this set-up only works in the preview window (I have not exported yet) when I select (highlight) all of the images in the filmstrip.  The one nuance is that it does not include the first photo in the filmstrip in the slideshow.  What am I missing?

Using CE4 Pages I cannot seem to get the social media sharing icons to appear when I select "end of block" as the location.  I have a Galleria Slideshow on the page. This is my first time through as I am just upgrading now so I have not changed much from the default settings (but obviously messed something up).
