Rod,
I want to change the header in Backlight to look like my current website. Is that possible with just css?
John
Rod,
Thanks, here is a link to my current home page: www.johnthackerphoto.com
I would like the style of the header, with my name and navigation on the same line. Also the footer a bit smaller than default but the footer also includes a link to send me an email. The navigation includes the home page and two gallery pages, one named Portfolios the other named Projects. You already told me how to put a single image on the home page, which I thank you for.
Your thoughts?
Cheers,
John
When making a template page, there is a drop down to select a css. Since there is only one choice, are there other styles sheets not available to a user which cascade with the selected style sheet.
Also I would like to change the layout of the header, body, and footer, for a page. Can I do these completely with a css or is the layout controlled by php or other means?
Much appreciate advise.
Cheers,
John
Rod, Matthew,
Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
John
I have an existing website and want to replace it with Backlight. However, I want to install the new site on a local server so I can customize the site and test it before replacing the old website. I'll be using WAMP server on my desk top. What issues will have to deal with when transfering the WAMP version to my web hosting site? Secondly, I would like to customize the font and colors for the new site, as well as including images on the about and contact pages. I assume the fonts and colors can be customized using custom css pages. Correct? Is it possible to include images on pages other than the gallery papes?
Thanks for any input.
Cheers,
John
Ok, thanks that works perfectly.
When I create an Album, I want to also use a custom thumbnail. I select Custom in the "Create Album" dialog, there appears to be no way to select the thumbnail to be used for the album.
For the albums that I upload manually, I have set the album thumbnail to a default value of "thumbnail.jpg". I then put a thumbnail, named "thumbnail.jpg" in the album folder just before uploading to my host. This works perfectly.
The publisher template I have exported and uploaded to the host also has "thumbnail.jpg" as the name of the album thumbnail. I have placed a "thumbnail.jpg" in the album folder which was uploaded by publisher. However, it does not show the "thumbnail.jpg" that I put into the folder.
Am I missing something? There is no discussion of how to use the "Custom" selection in the "Create Album" dialog.
Please advise.
Cheers,
John
Sorry, it is in a folder of the main domain.
John
I think the navigation is the problem. I used the same navigation as when working on WAMP and the test is in a subdomain on the my host. I'll give a go.
Thanks much.
Great thanks! I'll start to work on it in a couple of days. Any other suggestions before I get started?
Thanks, yes those extensions are enabled. Publisher does work on my host server. The new albums are uploaded or the same page as one that I uploaded manually. This is what I want to happen.
However, when I select one of the published albums the navigation no longer works. That is from the published album page when I select About for example I get a server error that it can find the page.
How to I correct this?
Cheers,
John
Ok, where is the wamp server system tray? How do I get to it?
Ok, I'll install WordPress in a sub-folder in the root directory, Is that correct?
WAMP is running. But I still don't see the template when select Create Album. Where to go from here?
Yes, I did read that documentation. What I find confusing is having my home page as a gallery. Now my home page has a single image. I have a "Portfolio" page which is a gallery. I want the blog to have its own page.
If I make my home page a gallery, won't that conflict with the "Portfolio" page which is also a gallery?
John
I exported a CE4 Gallery template and placed the exported folder (Pale6) in the template folder as such: ttg-be/templates/gallery/Pale6
When I go to my publisher and select Create Album, I get a message: Unable to perform action: listTemplates. Hence publisher is not seeing the template Pale6.
In the setup, I have authenticated access to the server (I'm running localhost on WAMP).
Can't seem to figure out the problem. Your thoughts?
Cheers,
John
My current website is based on the web publishing bundle. I would like to add a blog such that the blog is listed in the navigation area of my current pages. Of course the blog would have its own "page". The documentation is for wordpress being the home page. Is there any documentation that deals with my situation where wordpress is not the home page?
This site is setup the way I would like: http://www.brunocauwe.net/

The Iconic works well, but the thumbnails are low resolution despite the fact that I have set the thumbnails to 1000 by 1000 in the Output panel. So the images are blury. I checked the image size they are 192px on the long side. On Campagn's travel page, the images are very sharp.
How to I fix this?
Cheers,
John
Yes, iconic is what I would like. Do I need to use a Auto Index template plugnin? I don't see the Iconic option under Auto Index in the appearance section in my pages plugin.
Nevermind I found it!
Many thanks
No I have hacked the pages and got those setting to the gallery plugin.
Sorry about all the previous rambling as I find my way through the plugin panels. There is a lot there and figuring it out has been a monumental task. Thanks to you I'm sure it has been greatly shortened.
Down to the real issue now. On the gallery page, the album title and description take up a lot of space on the right side of the album image. I want on the title of the album to be shown under the album image. So that I can put more albums in a row.
So, I don't really know to customize the gallery page to make it so.
Your thoughts?
If you like I can load this on my server so you can take a look. Let me know.
Cheers,
John
Ok, I did figure out how to get different images on each of the pages.
But still don't understand how to "combine" my exported pages with the gallery template. The gallery plugin template is configured the way I would like but the gallery page is not. The grid is different and where the text is different. How do I make the gallery page look like the gallery plugin?
John
Rod,
Thanks much for helping me. I have gotten to the point where I think I have all the header/footer issued taken care of. Also I have "hacked" a gallery template so it has the same look and feel of the pages template.
Now that I'm starting to add content to the pages. I can't seem to have different images of the different pages. For example on the About, Info, and Services pages I have 2 columns. I want to have a different image in each of the side bars plus a different image in the home page. So, on each page I select the image I want from the film strip. When I export I get the last image selected on each of the pages. How can I get around this?
I'm not sure how to "combine" the Pages export with the Gallery template. I can seem to find a good explanation in the documentation. I think I must be missing something.
Your thoughts?
John
Rod,
Thanks, I'm using the same masthead and footer on each page. And I'm getting pretty close. But I want to change to background:hover color to be the same as the background ground, i.e. I don't want the rectangle around the link to change its background color. But I don't see an element in the LR plugin that seems to set that color. Will I have to go the a custom css? Your thoughts?
Also, I don't see any controls in the footer section that will let me change the height smaller on the footer. Custom css?
Your thoughts?
Cheers,
John
Rod,
You are referring the Lightroom plugins? Where in the panel is the Integrated Option? Also in the galleries what options come close to the one in http://www.brunocauwe.net/galleries.php
Rod, thanks for taking the time to look and my site. I'll follow your suggestions and see how it goes.
Thanks much.
Cheers,
John
