dear rod,

thanks for looking into the details.

it seems that I had a cache problem yesterday, during editing the new layout.

today, after opening the page, I totally agree with you, that both pages are identical. sorry for the topic.

best regards and again thanks for your help,

#2 Re: Backlight Support » Layout with 1 column and 3 columns different size » 2017-08-02 00:11:54

Hi Rod,

It is Not only the scrollbar - I resized the height of the startpage browser so a scrollbar appeared - but still a (small differences) between my startpage and the blog page.

The differences is not visible on my iPad but on my 1920px monitor.

But don't worry ... I can live with it. I just thought, I missed anything in the layout.

Thanks for you answer,
Volker

Hi all,

I have updated to Pangolin and did recognize a difference size between a one column layout and a 3 column layout and I am not sure, where I can change it.

On my homepage, I want to use a one column layout - but with my wordpress blog, I would like to have a 3 column layout to include the widgets.
I copied the standard one column layout for the wordpress design and just changed the one to three columns. But if I compare the two pages, the complete page "flips" (you can see it also in the masthead) - can I change this?

Examples: http://www.volker-dobler.de (standard one column page)
and http://www.volker-dobler.de/blog (three columns layout - with a split layout of the two pallets).

Thanks for any hints/help,
Volker

cool - I did not think about rgba() ...

thanks a lot for this wonderful tip and the fast help!!

#5 Re: Backlight Support » Font size » 2017-07-03 04:24:17

thanks rod,

but than I can not change the pallet to transparent, as the color in the control group does not allow a "x" color (which doesn't make any sense - I agree).

I have included the background image in the background control group, so I thought that the pallet is also overwritten by the background color - but seems that it is always using the base background color.

I have seen the video but was not aware of this feature, that an individual background image will not be seen in the pallet area.

have a nice day/evening/night :-)

#6 Re: Backlight Support » Font size » 2017-07-03 03:27:06

Dear Matthew,

don't worry about the font size - I can accept the standard size and will play with markdown in my starting page.

But regarding the white top pallet I still have problems and what rod suggested is not working as I have no color set.

I can switch the pallet completely off - but that's not what I want. All colors in the "Top Pallet" area are "crossed" colors - so no white as seen in my page. I can change this color e.g. to yellow and the pallet will get yellow. But if I change it back to "crossed" color, it appears to be back in white and overlaying my background picture.

Its not important, as I will delete the background picture in my final version, but just curios if its a bug or a feature? :-)

Best regards,
Volker

Thanks Rod and Matthew for your explanations.

My Personal preference is (I am getting older) to have a possibility to change base font size, but you are right, I can use CSS for this.

Thanks for the great update of backlight

Dear all,

I am playing around with the new Pangolin and I am stumbling across a few questions.
Maybe I oversee anything, so any hint would be appreciate.

- where can I change the font size of the main content? I can change the font weight, but I could not find where to change the font size.
- when I put a picture in the background of my starting page, the top part is still "white" - even if I disable the search feature.

My test site is: http://www.volker-dobler.de/homepangolin
(not a very good background picture, but I am just playing around)

Best regards,
Volker

#10 Backlight Support » CSS in wrong directory » 2016-11-10 07:05:05

Hi all,

I have (another) question:

On my website, I use backlight 1.05. See http://www.volker-dobler.de

I use an own CSS file to format the text (e.g. for the menu) which is located in ./backlight/custom/css with the name volkersvirtuellewelt2016.css

All seems to work smooth and correct, beside when I click on "Bildergalerien" (galleries).
The text layout changes (sometimes) and I recognised, that the link to the CSS is file is different than for other pages.

E.g. in the gallerie sub-dir, it is (see "galleries" between the domainname and "backlight")
   link rel="stylesheet" href="http://www.volker-dobler.de/galleries/backlight/custom/css/volkersvirtuellewelt2016.css"

But on my homepage or in the serach sub-dir, it is (without any subdir between domain and "backlight")
   link rel="stylesheet" href="http://www.volker-dobler.de/backlight/custom/css/volkersvirtuellewelt2016.css"
(which is what I expected).

Why is the path "galleries" in the path of the CSS? Where did I make the mistake and can change this? I am not using the .htaccess file, because when I use it, I get an error.

Thanks for any help,
Volker

#12 Re: Backlight Support » Default Album for publisher » 2016-11-07 02:46:50

Hi Rob,

sorry, my english seems not good enough to explain what I want to say.

A bit more longer:

I have a template in backlight "Volkers Album Set". This is my album I use on my webpage based on backlight. All works well (see www.volker-dobler.de).

Now I have some galleries I manage in Lightroom. I use the publisher to upload these pictures to my website.
Doing this, I have to create an album in Lightroom within the publisher plugin. Lightroom shows a window where I can include "album name", "album title", "album description" etc. And in this window, I can change the Template to "Volkers Album Set" from backlight. But as standard, I always see "Standard Album Template" as default. And I wonder, if I can change this default within Lightroom to my album set (e.g. Volkers Album Set").
Same with "Cover Image" - which is "Random" as default, but I would like to have "Custom" as default.

But anyway, don't worry, I can change this for each album - but because I have updated all my galleries this weekend, it was a bit of work always change this template (and if I forgot one album, it has this wrong template :-) ).

Best regards,
Volker

#13 Re: Backlight Support » Default Album for publisher » 2016-11-07 02:03:06

Hi Rob,

thanks - I did this.

But I thought (as I had this "Default Template" before) that there is a way of defining what the standard selections should be.
I have changed the entries with the help of the drop down menu - but I though, that I don't have to change this all the time.

But anyway, if this is not possible, I will (and have to) change the entries either with the drop down menu or with the "Import" button from a previous album.

Thanks for your help and reply,
Volker

#14 Re: Backlight Support » Default Album for publisher » 2016-11-07 01:44:02

Dear Daniel,

thanks - but what about the "default" entries? Maybe my question was unaccurate.

I would like to get "My Album Set" as Template and not "Standard Template". Can I chance the default entries (e.g. for template or items per page) somewhere else?

Thanks,
Volker

Hi,

I accidentially deleted the "Default Album" in my Publisher section within Lightroom.
If I create a new one with the name "Default Album" it is not the default album (e.g. if I change something in this default album, this change will not be the default when creating a new album set).

Is there any chance to get the "Default Album" back?

Thanks for any tips/hints.

Best regards,
Volker

It seems to work now - again, thanks for your support and very fast help (even on Sunday).

#17 CE4 Pages » Mobile version of navigation menu » 2016-05-08 20:16:55

Dear all,

I do have a question for my responsive navigation. I have a CE4 page as starting page and when I look to it from my smartphone, the current navigation on the left side switch to a small icon top right (that's what I expected).
But if I click on this icon to see the navigation items, it does not show any sub-menues.
But if I look to a sub-page (about.php) - from same design - it works.

Here are my examples:
==============

Normal view:

http://www.volker-dobler.de  (here, it shows the navigation on the left)

As responsive view:

http://www.responsinator.com/?url=www.volker-dobler.de

This sub-page works:

http://www.responsinator.com/?url=www.v … /about.php

Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot.

We're glad you see the potential. I'm fully aware not everything is in that users might immediately want, but Backlight needed to release on time; CE4 was getting long in the tooth, and the more user-friendly system needed to be out. These things will come in updates, I promise.

Don't hurry ... looks really nice and much better to handle - for now and more for future features.

#19 Re: Backlight Support » Fonts for menu » 2016-05-06 00:35:56

thanks - I put my css code in ".page__tray ul.menu a" and it seems to work.

after my first day with backlight, I like the idea and I am looking forward to the next updates. Because currently, I will stay with CE4 as it allows a bit more features at the moment - e.g. I don't see any chance to include the social media links to backlight.

So, I am happy that backlight is there and I see the potential and the posibilities - but I am missing a few important features from the previous version and I am patient to wait for version 1.1 or more :-)

Best regards,
Volker

Hi again,

sorry, I am stumbeling about another question.

How can I change the font/typography of the menu? I found how to change the base font properties - but nothing where I specifically can change the menu font. In the CE4 version, I could add a text-shadow and also change the font-family etc.
Maybe I am blind of all the new features, but any help is great.

Thanks,
Volker

#22 Re: Backlight Support » From test environment to running environment » 2016-05-05 17:36:05

Hi Matt,

thanks - so I will use the sub-domain to build up the look of my current CE4 page and copy the backlight directory to the running system.
After this I will migrate the galleries to the backlight system.

As I don't have much traffic on my side, it will run smoothly :-)

Again, thanks for the work and the new version - looking forward to the next modules (especially as I use the wordpress bundle too).

Have a nice day,
Volker

Dear all,

I do have a question that I could not find in the document.

Learning, that I should not use the current CE4 system with the new backlight in one directory, I moved backlight to s sub-domain and will install the new system there.

But if I move this test environment to the active running system, what do I have to copy? Is there any documentation, which folders or files I do have to copy to my second "backlight"-running system? Or is the only way to copy the full backlight folder?

Thanks
Volker

#24 Re: Backlight Support » First experience » 2016-05-05 06:58:32

Dear Ben,

thank you very much for your very fast support - it did not work for me.

The "problem" is the css file - not the file itself. In the header, I found the following
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="index.php?template=6&amp;extension=css&amp;name=style">

which will not be found (as it is the old index.php) - I am not sure if this will be influenced by the .htaccess - I already "played" with the entries, but either all pages are in the new (backlight) design (which is not ready yet) or the backlight design is broken.

I will test more tomorrow and if it does not work, I will more the backlight to a new test-subdirectory. I hope to move than the new design to the later final root directory :-)

Again - thanks for your support,
Volker

Dear Matt,

wow - what an easy task to install backlight and to set up a first page. Thanks for the new peace of very good software.

I do have one question regarding the starting page. I have now moved "backlight" to my current webpage and want to test backlight in parallel of the current running CE4 web page.

But if I rename the index.php file to backlight.php it does not work. The css style redirection in the header points to index.php?template... which is the old index.php and this will not work with the new structure. Any idea, how I can run backlight and the old CE4 page parallel? Thanks.
Live example: www.volker-dobler.de/backlight.php for the new page - www.volker-dobler.de for the current CE4 page.

Best regards,
Volker
