I have sorted it, I tracked it down to an old copy of the CE4 Gallery in a sub directory under my Web Galleries directoy. I just deleted this and I now have the Masonary style.

I am looking at creating a new gallery and was looking to us the Grid-type: Freewall (Masonry), however there is no option in the Grid type desktop under the appearance panel. Any ideas why?

Adobe have released a Lightroom 5 beta.
There are some great new features such as the Advanced Healing Tool which allows you to fix irregular shaped defects in your image. A new lens correction mode called upright which will correct converging verticles and wonky horizons and a very nice radial filter which allows a vignette to be applied at any point in an image.

When you are in the Web perspective if you have not created a web gallery your changes are not saved which looks like what you are seeing. Above the web page which is bring displayed it gives a message Unsaved Web Gallery. Are you seeing that?
If so when in the web perspective right click in your collections panel and create a web gallery and try again.

I have just experienced this problem, I had a galery with a single image in it. When I added 4 more and caused the scrollbars to grow it goes away. A simpler work around.
