Contact Form using ReCapcha

Hi

My contact form is at http://midaseye.com/contact/

Yesterday I implemented reCapcha.  Debug is on.  Everything seems to work when sending a mail but I do not receive and mail.  Any clues?

Kind Regards

Kev

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

Hi Kev, I just sent a test message.  This shouldn't be related to reCAPTCHA, as any reCAPTCHA issues would prevent you from reaching the Thank You page.

Who are you hosting with?  We have a document on sending Email with Bluehost.  Some of the advice may apply to other hosts:

Hi Ben

I host the site myself from a QNAP NAS.

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

Hi Kev, are you using SMTP or Mail or your mail send type?  If the latter, then you'll need to ensure your NAS's mail server is configured correctly.

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

Hi Ben

Everything looks OK re the NAS now.  (It was not configured at all).  I have sent myself a mail via the NAS and received this.

I have now just tried to send to myself through the contact form and again recieved nothing.

Could it be the mail has to be sent by somebody from outside my domain?

I still cannot make this work.  Here are some screen shots of the settings I have done.

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

Do you get emails through the form when reCaptcha is disabled?

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

No I don't Rod.  With recapcha disabled you have to configure gmail to allow non allowed apps which is not secure.

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

I think that what Ben will want to know is if the form works on its own. As he mentioned above, if you're using ReCaptcha and you get to the Backlight Thank You page, then it's likely not an issue with ReCaptcha.

Google's terminology is confusing. Enabling insecure apps means you have to trust the services that you give your gmail credentials to. Since you run the Backlight software on your own server, it is yourself who you are trusting.

Re: Contact Form using ReCapcha

Hi

I have switched from SMTP to mail.  Now everything works and I receive the mails. Clearly somthing wrong in the SMTP settings shown in the attachment sent earlier.

Kind Regards

Kev
