?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

Hiya,

After saving settings in backlight admin, the live website does not refresh the using ?autoRefresh.

The arrows at the bottom are rotating and it still doesn't refresh, i have to cmd+r (Mac).

In addition to this after refreshing the browser manually it still doesn't always refresh, i have to Clear Cache Template then refresh manually again.

Is there anything i'm doing wrong or can anything be done to make ?autoRefresh work again? it used to work during the 1st install of Backlight.

Many Thanks
Evagoras

since we can't see what's going on from your site's front-end, Matt or Ben will likely need admin access to your site.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

Hi Evagoras, I've had a look at your site.  What I've found is that auto-refresh works all all pages other than your home page.  Is that what you're seeing?  It's not working on your home page due to Backlight using an incorrect link to poll for template changes (looking under designer rather than publisher).  This is something I'll need to look into.

I also found that your menu items all point to 'home'.  Is this intentional? If not, I suggest editing the menu and pointing each item to the right location.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

Thanks ben, i'm only editing home at the moment so thats probably why I'm experiencing this.

My menus are still under construction, just there aesthetically at the moment.

TBH i'm thinking of resetting my entire server. I have Loads of galleries using the old system and want to migrate them.

I currently use wix to design my website (www.evagoras.co.uk) and only used gallery.evagoras.co.uk for my cart and CRG. Since you guys have bought out Backlight it has inspired me to do this! hats off to you all!

Its taken me a while to get my head around backlight but once i am happy with it all i will be exporting the designs (with the new feature in 1.1.0), resetting and then asking to transfer my registration so that it is all on the gallery.evagoras.co.uk servers then getting rid of the gallery sub domain. (hopes this makes sense)

my only concern is the settings in the cart e.g. products etc can these be saved? exported?

All of your configuration is stored in the cart database, located in /backlight/data/... You can pull databases for backup, if that's your concern.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

I've found the issue and applied a fix for our next update.

Pages with embedded albums have incorrectly been attempting to check on updated Album templates before auto-refreshing, instead of updates to the Page template.   This problem should only be occurring for Pages with embedded Albums or Album Sets.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

Hi Evagoras, I tried with the credentials you gave me previously, and it appears to be working.
1. Visit http://gallery.evagoras.co.uk/?autoRefresh
2. Make an inconsequential change to the page template you're using for the index page.

The page reloaded with the change reflected.

What steps have you been taking that aren't working as you expect?

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

Hi Evagoras, that's expected.  The auto-refresh isn't designed to pick up changes to the embedded album/set.  The bug was that it wasn't picking up changes to the page template, which is meant to cause a refresh.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

ah... so its still a matter of making changes, saving, clear cache, reload page? Would be awesome if this could auto refresh too. Thanks for the prompt reply.

Re: ?autoReresh & Clear Cache Template

A simple page refresh should show up any changes.  Another way is to view the URL of the album set itself, and use auto-refresh there.
