Wordpress help

Sorry but I am becoming stupider as time goes on....

This is my wordpress landing page, which should have my latest posts. To my knowledge I have checked all the "latest posts" buttons I know and not the "static page" ones.
http://www.wtgphotos.com/blog/

When I then click on the widget Recent Posts > welcome! I get this:
http://www.wtgphotos.com/2016/10/welcome/

And when I click on Visit Site in the WP Dashboard, it takes me to my Backlight homepage:
http://www.wtgphotos.com/

Did I just fall off the onion truck??

Thanks for the help and time,
terry

The only one should be in Settings > Reading. Make sure it's set to Latest Posts.

Do you happen to have some sort of redirect going on that sends requests to yoursite.com/blog/.... to yoursite.com/....?
Perhaps in the .htaccess file?

Re: Wordpress help

Yes, the settings in WP are Latest Posts.

Looking at the htaccess file, I see lots of rewrites but no redirects. I haven't customized the htaccess file.

Still get the "Unable to find page with name 2016/10/welcome." when trying to load the test blog post.

Stuck on this one. Thanks for the thoughts and help!

Re: Wordpress help

You have Wordpress installed at http://www.wtgphotos.com/blog/, so in your Wordpress admin settings, be sure that Wordpress is aware of the fact. In Wordpress' admin, Settings => General, that means setting the Wordpress Address as above, and possibly the Site Address as well.

Re: Wordpress help

Yes that is the correct address in Settings>General.

Sorry but I still get:
http://www.wtgphotos.com/blog/

And this when I try to access the welcome! post:
Unable to find page with name 2016/10/welcome.
Something went wrong

Unexpected error: Module 'ionCube Loader' already loaded in Unknown on line 0

Please report error at http://community.theturninggate.net

Thanks for your time and help!

I really think Backlight is a great step forward for TTG as it avoids the cumbersome and slow LR Web module functionality. Great work! Just trying to get it to work for me!

Re: Wordpress help

Something in your setup seems to be off.... When I click on the "pictographs" link, it goes to "http://www.wtgphotos.com/tag/pictographs/" instead of http://www.wtgphotos.com/blog/tag/pictographs/

Did WP work with the default theme? Is this a new WP installation? If yes, I would dump it and start from scratch. First get it up and working with the default theme, then add the Backlight theme.

But there is something else: the 'ionCube Loader' error shows up on your regular pages as well. Did you add ionCube to your installation?

Re: Wordpress help

If you'd like to send me a login, I'll have a look at your Wordpress admin. All indications that I can see are telling me that your Wordpress settings are wrong, not in Backlight but within Wordpress itself.

Re: Wordpress help

The story is that I had switched from my CE4-based site just before Backlight came out to a WP site based on (wrong) information from someone telling me I needed a more robust ecommerce piece. So I had switched to using a Divi framework from Elegant Themes and Woocommerce. Then talking to someone more knowledgeable, they said the ecommerce piece of CE4 was perfectly fine. I was sick of the complexity of the Divi/Woocommerce piece. So I chucked the Divi site and came back to Backlight. However all that stuff is still there.

I suspect both of you are correct that something from the older WP site is still gumming up the works. I will see if I can clean out the themes I don’t need and see if that helps. I’ll report back.

Matthew, how do I PM you if I need you to look under the hood some more?

Thanks to y’all for the help. It appears I naively thought I could just slap in a new WP theme and move on.

Re: Wordpress help

You can send Matt an email. There's a link beneath his name and picture to the left of every post of his.

Re: Wordpress help

I was unsuccessful trying to finesse Wordpress, so I did a re-install from scratch. Seems to be working now.

Thanks again for all the time to help me out!! I'll holler back if problems arise.
