Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

I have uploaded the module-client-response into the Backlight modules directory on my test site and double check that the permissions are 755 (same as other modules).

However, when I logout and back into the Backlight admin menus, it does not show up.  I have logged out and back in a number of time but there are still no client response menus.  I have also re-uploaded the module-client-response.

I have upgraded to Backlight 1.0.2 just before installing Client Response add-on and everything else looks fine.

Test site is http://backlight-rc.neilcordell.photo
Hosted on bluehost.com

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Having looked at this again, I have noticed that in Backlight 1.0.1 there was a 'crg' folder in the Backlight directory and in 1.0.2 it is now called 'client-response' so I have copied this to my website but the Admin options for Client Response still do not work.

Did I miss something in the upgrade process for 1.0.2?

Note:  I have created a clean (fresh) test site just using Backlight 1.0.2 plus Client Response add-on and this works fine.

Try logging out and back in along with clearing browser cache

And you can delete that old backlight/crg/ folder

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Rod,

I have deleted the old 'crg' directory and then cleared the template cache, I logged out of Backlight admin, cleared the browser cache and finally logged back into Backlight admin.

Client Response is still not on the menus.

Neil.

Hi Neil, what's the URL to your Backlight admin?

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Thanks.  I think the permissions at http://backlight-rc.neilcordell.photo/b … -response/ may be causing problems.  There is no need to set permissions for anything uploaded into modules.  Can you either reset the permissions to the default, or delete module-client-response and re-upload it (without setting permissions)?

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Ben,

I have deleted module-client-response and re-uploaded it but this has not fixed it.  Looking at the permissions, they are all set to 755 which I think should allow it to work.

I have not done any different when I upload this module to the rest of them.

Neil.

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Hi Neil, that's strange.  I'm able to browse this module: http://backlight-rc.neilcordell.photo/b … ard-album/
but not http://backlight-rc.neilcordell.photo/b … -response/
so it looks like the permissions aren't the same.

Can you provide me with an FTP login so I can try and work out what's going on?

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Ben, does Backlight 1.0.2 need to be completely in place (including all the post-upload procedures) before the Client Response module is installed?

I ran into a similar problem as Neil's in testing when I updated my second test site (already running a 1.0.2 beta and one of the CR betas).
I uploaded the RC versions of the 1.0.2 updates and the client response module all at once. After logging in I didn't see the Client Response tab.

I just thought I needed to log out and log in but I may have also re-uploaded the client response module again. Either way, it started working correctly so I figured it was pilot error on my part and went happily on my way.

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Hi Neil, I've found the problem.  backlight/config.php hadn't been updated.  If you log in again you'll be able to see the Client Response menu.

Rod, there may be some edge cases with the upgrade process.  It should work in any order.  If not, that's a bug in the system.

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Thanks for that Ben.  I just also noticed that when I was upgrading my local test web server.
I had assumed that it was my fault but just couldn't see it.

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Hi Neil, the update to config.php was only necessary because of our choice to rename 'crg' to 'client-response' to reflect the fact that the module is an add-on and not a gallery.  We thought it better to make that naming change now, at the cost of some extra uploads, rather than leave the change till a later date, with the risk of the change being more complicated for customers with installed and running Client Response add-ons.

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

put the unzip folder client response in to backlight /modules/client response

the folder named "client-response" (which is part of Backlight), goes directly in the /backlight/ folder

If you've purchased the Client Response add-on, then that download contains a folder named "module-client-response"

That folder is the one that goes into /backlight/modules/

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Hi there, I have finally managed to install Backlight 1.0.3 (this was from 1.0.1) with no obvious problems. This meansI have skipped the update to 1.0.2.
I have now also installed "client-response" for the first time (=> means I have have skipped the first version 7.0.0) and have the problem reported in this thread: Client Response is not showing up at all in Backlight Admin. Any advice?
I should mention that I have logged-in and out a couple of times, cleared the Browser Cache as well as the Template Cache. The permission are set to 755.
Cheers Alfred

Hi Alfred, did you also update to Client Response 7.0.1?

Re: Installed Client Response add-on and not showing in Admin menus

Yes, if this means copying the directory "\backlight\modules\module-client-response\" from the unzipped 7.0.1 download into the corresponding "modules" directory of Backlight on the server.
