Authentication required?

I was beginning to get to grips with setting up galleries, enabling feedback and so on, now, for some reason, I cannot get passed an Authentication Required message, even when I select Enable Feedback Standalone.

It was working before. Any idea what to do?

The username and password being asked for are those I applied to the top level galleries directory (in Publisher) through the web host's CPanel. My other CE3 galleries are all in the same top level folder.

In the CE3 galleries I password protect each separate client album in CPanel as well.

Re: Authentication required?

where are you getting this message?
Is it showing up when creating albums in Publisher?
If so, be sure to go to Publisher settings and enter the API url and key

Re: Authentication required?

Hi Rod,

No, the message appears in the browser window after I click on the gallery link in Lightroom. In Standalone mode, if I enter the username and password for the top level directory (set in cPanel) the gallery opens, but no feedback icons in the gallery. If I then enable Feedback for the gallery in Lightroom, the link takes me to the ttg-be login page, but only because, I think, I previously entered the top level directory cPanel username and password.

In Lightroom? You're clicking the link in Web Module??

In Standalone mode, if I enter the username and password for the top level directory (set in cPanel)

why CPanel?

I'm sorry, I'm not following what you're trying to do. Why do you need to set username and password in your host's cPanel?

It might help if you outline the steps you've taken as well as post a link and enable guest access to ttg-be

Re: Authentication required?

Hi Rod,

For the CE3 galleries, I've password protected the top level directory in cPanel to prevent access to it. Client's receive a separate cPanel password and username for the Album Sets containing their selection and download galleries.

In CE4, I can't get past the top level directory cPanel username and password, because there's no other username and password for the Album Set or Album I'm trying to access.

I just don't want to leave the top level directory open and unprotected.

Re: Authentication required?

Were you using Publisher with CE3?

I'm wondering if by requiring a username and password for your top level galleries folder you're blocking Publisher.

But I'm not sure. So I think Ben is going to have to figure this one out.

Re: Authentication required?

then what I can suggest for now, just to save some time for when Ben can take a look, is to see this page:
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … g_for_help
post a link to your site
and enable guest access to ttg-be.
