I'm getting an error when downloading from this test gallery: http://www.jzphoto.com/clients/misc/temple2014

assuming you're not using the gallery's photos/ folder for download renditions:
do you have a photo with the same filename in the download folder?
Have you created the folder for download?

Thanks Rod that worked! Changed the folder name back to photos.

this will mean that the size of the downloaded photos will be whatever you set as in Output settings. If you need them larger, then you'll need to export them from Lightroom's Library module and upload them to different folder (and put that folder name in the HI-res images folder). Be sure the file names are exactly the same
