Another pre-sales question

Hello, I am currently using a web site that I created with Adobe Muse and I came across a blog post by Terry White about one of your products. Looking at his 'Gallery' section on his website, I found exactly the sort of layout that I'm looking for. He uses Turning Gate plugins on a Muse platform.

What I'm after is like he has it here, http://terrywhitephotography.com/galleries.php with the idea of a main Gallery page based around wedding photography and on each section leading to another page with mutliple galleries on that selected theme.

My question is, can I achieve this using just CE4 Gallery alone or will I need CE4 Publisher also to get the job done?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Another pre-sales question

In general, my understanding is that if you just want to make a few galleries, then you could get by with only CE4 galleries. However, if you want to update the images in your galleries easily without having to go through all the steps of exporting and then uploading via ftp then you will need the publisher. If I were trying to decide about the publisher then I'd heavily consider it because it makes things significantly easier and more streamlined especially if you have multiple galleries. I would also try talking to Terry White about exactly how he set his website up because it might take a bit of work getting the systems to work together well and look uniform. Hope this helps for now, and maybe Rod, Ben, or Matthew can give you some more advice seeing as they have been doing this for a while.

Re: Another pre-sales question

To add to what Graceson said, if you want to have sections that lead to other galleries, you'll also need to get TTG CE4 Autoindex

Terry's site is base on TTG CE4 Pages, but if you don't need the whole site, you can do what you want with just Autoindex and Gallery. Publisher makes life a lot easier wink

Re: Another pre-sales question

Thanks for the input guys. Essentially I'm pretty happy with the flexibility of Muse, but hosting Lightroom galleries on the site isn't very good for devices such as mobile phones which is what has lead me in search of something better. From what I have understood the CE4 plugins are adapted for moile phones as well as SEO. The latter part can be quite laborious in Muse when dealing with images and galleries...or so I have found.
I wasn't really aware of what the indexing plugin did, I'll look into that one.
Thanks again.

Re: Another pre-sales question

Terry discusses the current iteration of this website here:
http://terrywhite.com/photography-websi … e-muse-cc/

In the Q&A section, he writes:

Q. If you had to do this from scratch, which Turning Gate Plug-ins would you need?

A. Since you’re going to need at least 3 of their plug-ins (Gallery, Auto-Index and Publisher) you’re still better off going with the CE4 Web Publishing Bundle as it will include everything you need for one price.

In terms of how to setup, you should meander through this tutorial:
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku.php?id=ce4_102

Just whenever we talk about WordPress there, imagine Muse instead. Otherwise, the setup instructions for Publisher, Auto Index and Gallery should hold.

Re: Another pre-sales question

Thanks Matthew. I just purchased Gallery, Auto-Index and Publisher yesterday evening. I didn't get the bundle as this way the less I have to install the less I'm likely to screw up..in theory!
I'll check out those links too. Thanks for that.

Out of curiosity, I noticed in Gallery and AutoIndex there is a zip file for the previous CE3 versions. Do they have to be installed also?

Nope. Ignore them.
