Nesting albums in CE4

I've searched around the documentation and the forum and can't seem to find the answer about how to set this up.

On the site (using CE4) ( http://davidmward.photography ) I would like to have the menu function with this structure:

portfolios
     Gallery 1
          album 1
          album 2
    Gallery 2
          album 1
          album 2

I would like all the albums to be publishable and updatable via publisher.

I have auto-index, as well as pages and stage. The main site was created using pages, which, if I understand correctly means that the Gallery page is an auto-index structure.

Re: Nesting albums in CE4

In your scenario above, Gallery 1 and 2 would be Album Sets. Use Autoindex to create the Album Set templates

Re: Nesting albums in CE4

One thing i've noticed is that the nesting does not extend to the navigation menu.
How is that accomplished?

Re: Nesting albums in CE4

first enable multi-level navigation in the Site Info > Navigation Container

then you'll need to enable phplugins: http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _phplugins
and enable the section in the phplugins file that starts with this:

/* DELETE THIS LINE
// SITE-WIDE "DROP-DOWN" NAVIGATION MENU
// This function establishes a site-wide navigation menu using pseudo-absolute URLs (beginning "/")
// -- portable, domain agnostic, and without the location limitations of relative URLs.
// Serves as an example of a function being applied globally.
// Utilizes the auto index script to list galleries in a specified location as a drop-menu.

The autoindex script will look inside the galleries/ folder and will add anything it finds in that folder only to the drop down list.

Re: Nesting albums in CE4

so again referring to your example above, the only items that will appear in the drop-down are "Gallery 1" and "Gallery 2"

If you need the navigation to go deeper, there will be some hand coding involved. See this thread:
