New Install - Struggling with Instructions

I'm doing a new install and having a really tough time getting things setup correctly. I'm finding the instructions are too vague at http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … stallation.

What I'm trying to do is an install that would allow me to create/publish/update a gallery on my existing WorPress blog. If I use the current guide, it doesn't tell me:

  • What webengines do I need to install in Lightroom for my objectives?

  • There's no instructions for the Auto-Index or Auto-Index Enabler webengine. I see them mentioned, but have no idea how they are used.

  • There's no clear way on how to create a template. Currently I'm getting a "Message: No templates have been created" when trying to create a new Album in Publisher.

  • Getting an error when trying to publish, "Can't update this collection. The album has not been created on the server. Please wait a short while and try again."

  • I've also run into some permission issues with my current host (Hostgator) that I had to resolve with their tech team. I'll move to Bluehost when I'm ready to launch, but I'd like to test out the gallery publishing environment before then.

I'm fairly technical (former web developer), so I'm not having an issue following the instructions... they just seem to be missing some important steps. Is there a more detailed installation guide available? If not, can I get some answers to the above. Thank You!

Re: New Install - Struggling with Instructions

The installation instructions you linked to are only for installing the plug-ins into Lightroom, they don't describe other installations (like Publisher)

What webengines do I need to install in Lightroom for my objectives?

If you're objective is to publish single albums, then besides Publisher, which you already have, you need TTG CE3 Gallery.
If you want to categorize your albums (landscapes, portraits, travel, etc.), you'll also need Autoindex.
You'll also need Autoindex if you need a page where your viewers can access those galleries. Otherwise you'll need to create a Wordpress page and add links to those galleries manually.
If you want to match the styling of your Wordpress site to your new albums, then you'd need TTG CE3 Theme for Wordpress too.

There's no instructions for the Auto-Index or Auto-Index Enabler webengine. I see them mentioned, but have no idea how they are used.

Autoindex is described here: http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … auto_index
Autoindex is used when you want to place galleries in separate "categories" so that you won't have to have all your galleries on one index page. When exporting an Autoindex, a folder is created with assets inside of it. One of those is the actual index page. Place a TTG gallery inside an Autoindex folder and it will automatically appear on that index page.
The Autoindex Enabler will allow non-TTG galleries can be "seen" by the Autoindex. Instructions for using Enabler are included in the engine. They'll show up in Lightroom's preview area. It's pretty straightforward.

There's no clear way on how to create a template. Currently I'm getting a "Message: No templates have been created" when trying to create a new Album in Publisher.

Publisher templates are created by TTG CE3 Gallery (Stage will also create templates). The process is described here:
http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … _templates

Getting an error when trying to publish, "Can't update this collection. The album has not been created on the server. Please wait a short while and try again."

Probably because you haven't created a template yet?

Thank you Rod, I'll have to review all of this later tonight and will likely have another question or two... big_smile
