Re: Something went wrong after migration

Looking at this one at a time.
1. The menu entry is incorrect and points to 2006/2007 menus. There is a page at http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/galleries/028_2018-events/ but it has an Access Code so I can’t see whether it shows what it’s meant to.

2. Is the structure you’re seeing in LR the same as what can be seen here? http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/backlight/pub … _albums/1/
If so, try dragging Albums them to the right Album Set within LR

3. As an example, I can see that there is a caption in the database for this photo. http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/galleries/03_ … single.php
I’ll look further into it

Re: Something went wrong after migration

Yes, all the albums were in yearly dated sets starting in 2015/2016. There were no "loose" albums. The earlier sets covering 2010/2011 through 2014/2015 were CE3 sets that failed to convert to CE4 when I tried in 2015. It appears that one or two of those albums actually converted this time but I haven't had a chance to investigate what is in them, if anything.

This has been another strange experience with these programs.

I have absolutely no idea  how this particular set got an access code and what that code might be. Another strange part of this migration.

How do I dig in to it? Or just delete it?

I don't see a caption and that image is in a template that I never created.

Re: Something went wrong after migration

I went into editing the sets but could not find a way to reorder the albums according to month, starting with September and ending with May in each set. Dragging produces nothing.

Re: Something went wrong after migration

you can order things by title, slug, etc. Ascending or descending. Dragging sets won't do it.

For example: give a set a slug that starts with a date, like 1809 (sept 2018). Sort by slug descending. 1809... will appear before 1805 (May 2018)

Edit the album set either in LR or Backlight and change the privacy to 'Public' under Features.

The key word in my comment was *database*.  I can see that it has been saved.  Why it is not showing is yet to be determined.

OK. That worked and that set is complete except for the captions.

Is the template set up to display captions?
Have you tried republishing metadata?

I had a numbering system in CE4 and CE3 that displayed the sets so the newest one was always at the top left in the autoindex page and the albums were in monthly order within each set. This system was ignored by the migration so the albums are all over the place. These numbers were in the titles starting in 2010.

Have you tried changing whatever the default order setting is?

Re: Something went wrong after migration

This migration is fouled up in so many ways it is hard to put them all down.

Example 1:
on the site: 2018/2019 Events displays 2015-2016 twice, 2016-2017, 2017-2018(no image), 2018-2019 (no image) and album September 2015 (no image)

In Backlight: When I go to edit page 2018/2019 Events the 2018-2019 album set is not in the list of available sets to bind to. The options are:
Galleries (where did that come from?) See below.
Two versions of 2015-2016 (you see them on the site as two pieces - more on that later
2016-2017 - this one is good
2017-2018 - this one is also good

The Album set to insert called Galleries contains all of the above sets plus one labeled September 2015 which is empty.

Example 2:
On the site  2015/2016 Events used the first version shown in BL and is a total mess including 6 copies of album 2015 October (only the first one is complete) and two of September 2013, one which actually has two albums from 2015 and the other is empty. It's like a bomb his this set and threw pieces all over the place.

In Backlight there is no way to sort all of this out that I can find.

I am thinking of uploading the complete backup of the original CE4/CE3 site to another folder on the server and try this again Or perhaps Ben does it so he can see any errors that arise). Any thoughts on this?

Re: Something went wrong after migration

2018-2019 events was missing because it still had a password associated from CE4.  I've fixed this.

2015/2016 is listed twice because there are two Album Sets with the same name:
http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/backlight/pub … lbum/7997/
http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/backlight/pub … bum/30655/

I suggest you clean up the latter within LR if possible, or if not, then within the Backlight Publisher admin.

For the repeated albums, visit http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/backlight/pub … _albums/1/ and delete as needed.  That can be done by clicking on the album name followed by Delete Album.

Galleries is the master Album Set that includes the set of Albums and Album Sets at the top level.  It's just there so that you can insert that in a page if you want to.

Re: Something went wrong after migration

In general, my suggested strategy to clean this up:

1. If possible within LR, do so (e.g. if an empty album is there that you want to remove, do it there)

2. If that's not possible, do so in the Publisher section of Backlight admin.  The only restriction is that you can't move LR-created albums within the the Backlight admin.  You can delete Albums and Album Sets in the Backlight admin regardless of whether they were created in LR or Backlight admin.  As above, if the latter then try deleting in LR first.

I found it. The order does not change. I tried creation date and creation date descending. I also tried slug and title. No effect any place.

The 2015-2016 albums are spread out over two sets. I need to get the part 2 albums into the part 1 set. Can't just delete one of them.

Sure.  Do they appear as two sets in LR?  Then move albums over.  I can move them over from the second set if you're not able to in LR.  Let me know.

Re: Something went wrong after migration

I cannot get LR to authenticate today (It did on Saturday). Also, i do not have the 2015-2016 catalog any longer (it's a long story), so please move the two albums in the second one over to the first one.

I got it to authenticate, selected an album to publish and got a error message "Cannot update this collection"

None of the sets from Backlight appear in LR. Aren't they supposed to?

Re: Something went wrong after migration

I tried to hide one of the six extra albums and got this

Something went wrong

rename(/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/,/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/2015-october): Invalid argument in PublisherHelper.php on line 378

Everywhere I turn something doesn't work. Very frustrating!!!!

Re: Something went wrong after migration

Yes, it is frustrating.

I'm looking into these for you.  Can you do the following.  In Lightroom, visit File > Plug-In Extras > Output  Publisher Structure and for each of the listed items, including CE3 and CE4 press OK.  A chunk of text will be visible in the dialogue box.  If it's all visible without going off the edge of the page, copy-and-paste it into an email preceded by the name of the service (e.g. CE3).
If it's not all visible then either email me the full file called ttg.log in your PC's Documents directory, or open it up and copy in the last few lines that capture all of the outputs from the above operation, and send it by email.

That information tells me which albums and sets exist in your LR plugin.
