Problem with activate search option (button)

Hello,
I installed Backlight 2 a week ago and are busy building it up with my photo pages.
I am unable to activate the search option, I would like to add it to the "menu set" but I get an error message:
________
Something went wrong
Unexpected error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in PdoExtended.php on line 533
________

Now search button on my website to be found in the top right corner
http://www.steehouwer.com
For example, to search, use: Blue Angels

Thanks for help..

Peter

More than 42.000+ pictures

Hmm... I don't remember to ever have seen a BL site with that many images.

Hi Daniel,
Currently a 20K of photos on the BL pages all others (still) on another domain
You think too many photos are the cause?

Hi Peter,

It might be, but I don't know. It is just a lot of images. That's something for Ben to answer. You might want to send him your ftp and Backlight credentials so he can have closer look what's going on on your server.

Re: Problem with activate search option (button)

It's likely a combination of too many images and an under-resourced server.  Who are you hosting with, and what kind of plan are you on? (e.g. shared, dedicated server).

Re: Problem with activate search option (button)

I have 37,000+ images on my Backlight site, and will probably get to Peter's level after our upcoming vacation.  I ran into the execution time problem on my testing server and had to modify the PHP max execution time parameter.  My testing server isn't that fast.  I haven't run into this issue on my live site on 1and1, but I'm fairly sure the time limit for my package is 60 seconds, so I might hit that some day.  Perhaps your host will let you raise that limit.

Hi Ben,
I use a VPS server (since 2 weeks) here in The Netherlands
Before that (shared) hosting at PowWeb

Now I have 22,000 pictures within BL2 but I also plan to import the rest (22K ...) to BL2

greetings
Peter

Re: Problem with activate search option (button)

Thank you all for answers
I think I have to find the solution with Google search
With a function that searches on my website and this in a BL2 page and displays the results outside of BL2

Re: Problem with activate search option (button)

Hi Peter, can you provide me with the Publisher database file via email or Dropbox, so that I can run performance tests on my PC?
The file can be found at backlight/data/publisher/master.sq3
It’s probably quite large, so may need to be zipped before sending.

Also, it would be helpful if you could provide me with FTP access and a Backlight admin login.

Hi Ben,

Thanks!
I have sent you an e-mail.
I think I'll do it differently
