Contact form in French

I have defined French with Enabled=yes, default=yes,
                    US-English               no               no

and French labels in manage language but the contact form still comes in English.

Re: Contact form in French

J'ai bien mis à jour ces 2 endroits, en plus j'ai désactivé l'anglais, et le formulaire s'appelle Français.
Malgré cela, les labels s'affichent toujours en anglais.

Re: Contact form in French

I wonder if it not necessary to define the french language inline, but where ? At the end of the 'copy' section ?

Re: Contact form in French

There's a language drop-down that can be disabled or enabled. It looks like a little globe and should appear in the upper right of the page. By clicking that and choosing French, I believe your contact form should then use the french language.

Multi language is supported in Backlight. In other words, you can put all the text in one page without the need of creating the same page for each language: http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … ge_support

Re: Contact form in French

Yes , but I don't want to use the drop-down, as my site is not multi-language at the moment.
This is why I was wondering if the french language should not be 'forced' with an inline declare somewhere.

Re: Contact form in French

you can make the French language your default language. Go to Settings > Languages in the Backlight menu.
You can also disable any other languages there, that should get rid of the drop-down.
You can also disable the drop-down in your page template in the Top-Pallet section (at the bottom of the Top Pallet section)

And if you want to force the language on the page, just wrap the text in a div and use the language code as outlined in the documentation.

Your setup seems to be right. Which fields are not properly shown?

Re: Contact form in French

Fields are Name, Email, Send button, ... which I changed in the contact form.
I have tried many times to go around all these matters, and reloading my test site as well.
I stopped Firefox, run CCleaner to empty the firefox cache (I don't know another way) and now it's OK !!
Thanks all for your help,
Bernard

Re: Contact form in French

I have tried again the same process : I changed one field, updated Backlight (contact page) , tried many times to reload my test site, and was always coming with the old label.
After clearing the ff cache, was ok.

Re: Contact form in French

Be sure to enable Vertical Navigation in the Navigation section, otherwise you’ll have no navigation on mobile devices.
I’m on my iPad at the moment and was unable to check out your contact page because there is no mobile navigation wink

So it's appearing as you want it to?

Yes.
I don't understand your point about vertical navigation, I want to have horizontal one, at least on a PC. Is it possible to have different ones on pc and mobile ?

Re: Contact form in French

Rod,
I checked on my phone.
The navigation is present, but the characters are almost the same color as the background, ie light grey.
I have to check why the characters are different on mobile and pc.

Re: Contact form in French

When I look at your test site on either my iPad or iPhone, the mobile menu icon is not apppearing at all. I tried tapping on where it should or could be, but no vertical menu appears.

Mobile devices use vertical navigation so vertical navigation must be enabled if you want navigation on mobile devices. You can set the break point (in Layout) where vertical navigation is used.

Try changing the browser width, making it narrower and narrower. At some point you’ll see the horizontal navigation disappear. This is when you should see a hamburger icon in the upper right or upper left, depending on what you set the Pallet Position to (also in Layout)

Change the color of the mobile menus icon in Top Pallet under Pallet Toggle Buttons

Change the color of the Vertical Menu background and item colors unepder Navigation > Vertical Navigation

Are you looking at your test site or your current, CE4 site?

Your CE4 site has the color problem you describe.

Just resize your test site to make it smaller and then you will notice that the menu will disappear. Yes, there are different menu options.

Re: Contact form in French

Rod and Daniel,
You are right, I was looking at the CE4 site, my mistake.
Most of the photos are horizontal, so I would like (if possible) to have a horizontal navigation, like the CE4 site in fact.
I tried to narrow the FF window, and indeed at some point the navigation items disappear, when there is still a lot of room, that's what I don't understand.Has the 'float' parameter something to do ? I will check..

Re: Contact form in French

In the Layout section of your page template is "Break Point"
This is the browser width point where the mobile (vertical) navigation will be invoked.
Change that to the setting that serves you best. I think the narrowest width is something like 640 px. This means your horizontal menu will appear on any device wider than 640px.
After that, the the pallet toggle menu icon will appear. Click on that that you'll see the vertical navigation. But you must have Vertical Navigation enabled for the menu icon to appear.
