Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder?

I just upgraded to Backlight to rework my photography website and still use CE4 for some family stuff. However after installing Backlight, the download function on a recent CE4 gallery on my family's site gives me the following error:

Unable to find page with name download.
Something went wrong

Unexpected error: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/php/54/usr/lib64/php/modules/uploadprogress.so' - /usr/php/54/usr/lib64/php/modules/uploadprogress.so: undefined symbol: zend_ini_string_ex in Unknown on line 0

Please report error at http://community.theturninggate.net

This error occurred after installing Backlight.

Any guidance to help restore CE4 download functionality would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a way to migrate my old CE4 site and galleries to Backlight?

Thanks, terry

Hi Terry,

We have a migration guide here:

Re: Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder?

I'll have to think about that method as it is not intuitively obvious how to migrate to Backlight from the CE4 site where I have 5 years of albums.

I have used the old way of exporting from the Web module and it has worked so far until uploading Backlight. I will spend more time understanding the Backlight workflow for running two sites.

Any other thoughts? Thanks for your time!

Terry, were you using Publisher with your CE4 site or exported and uploaded galleries (you imply you were exporting and uploading)? If you are using Publisher, you can use the Backlight migration tool. If not, it gets complicated. You'll pretty much have to publish all your old exported galleries and new Publisher albums.

Re: Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder?

I'm not sure of any issues running exported CE4 albums alongside Backlight albums.
That error however looks unrelated to your question. It looks like a server configuration issue that is tripping up Backlight. Who are you hosting with? Can you provide a URL where we can see the error?

FWIW for a time I ran CE4 albums with a backlight controlled Wordpress theme and it ran without issue. In backlight I just created a menu item pointed at the CE4 album.

Hi Terry, I'm going to make a guess here.  You're on Bluehost.
To fix this, log into your Bluehost control panel.  Click on the PHP icon inside the Programming section.  On the Bluehost PHP Configuration page, look for a setting 'Upload Progress' under the "Additional extensions available for Installation" heading.  Uncheck the item and click Save Changes.

Re: Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder?

Whoa!! Thanks for all the feedback!!

1. I was exporting and uploading galleries and not using Publisher for my family stuff.
2. Using Bluehost.
3. Sounds like there's hope for continuing to use CE4 upload and export for family stuff as well as Backlight for my semi-professional stuff. I've got a ton of stuff on the family site and migration sounds like brain-damage.

Ben,
I'll try your suggestion and post back the results.

Thanks again to all!!

Re: Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder?

Ben,
I did as you suggested and checked the PHP 5.4 FastCGI version to update and unclicked the Upload Progress button.
I still get the error message when clicking the download button in the gallery but now it only says "Unable to find page with name download."
Any thoughts? Thanks again for the help.
Terry
