Could only an expiry date be specified or is it also additionally possible to set a valid from date?

one further question in this context:
is it possibly to offer a discount code / a coupon to only selected products assigned to a pricing scheme?
for example only for digital downloads and not for prints.
If not - any workaround to achieve this purpose?

discounts are applied to the total, not to individual products. I can't see a workaround for this. Be a nice feature though: a coupon for discounted download, kind of an introductory discount or something.
If this ever happens, it will happen to the Backlight version though. So if this is something important to you, I suggest posting a feature request in the Backlight forum.
