Backlight seems VERY slow—is it a configuration issue?

Every time I change pages in Backlight, (eg, selecting "Designer->Templates->List Templates"), it takes at least 15 seconds and sometimes over a minute to open the new page. The same is true for opening and refreshing Backlight-designed pages. Is this normal, or do I have a configuration problem?

My site (phoDOGraphy.com) works normally—it opens and refreshes in a second or two.

I tried deleting the entire Backlight folder and starting from scratch. Just getting through the setup menus is so slow that I am abandoning this project until I can figure out why.

Well I use Bluehost, my site is otherwise normally snappy, and I've followed the installation instructions to a "t". Any suggestions as to what I might try next?

Have you tried accessing Backlight from another computer? How about having someone else access from another ISP?
Matt or Ben may need to take a look. You could email Ben and include Backlight admin access credentials. He may also need FTP access

What type of hosting do you have at Bluehost?  Shared hosting or cloud hosting?  We have had one customer who experienced very poor performance on their cloud hosting plan.  He shifted to shared hosting and the performance issue went away.  This is counter-intuitive since you would expect the cloud plans to provided a better service.

I can take a look at the Backlight code on your server to try and work out where the bottleneck is.  If you'd like me to do that, please send me an FTP login via the Email link under my picture on the left.
