Is there a way to get rid of the cart grid icon? The client can see the cart symbol when they click on the image to see it full size and I'm fine with that.
I tried making the icon the same color as the background, but it still shows up on one image that is square and fills up the entire thumbnail space.

yep. In Output Settings under Shopping Cart Integration. Uncheck the "Display Add-to-Cart Buttons on Grid" box
