I have used only CE4 engines and modules. I have a gallery template that I like and would like to share the "look" with CRG template. Having done this between Autoexec and Gallery, I am confident I am doing it right. But the Gallery look does not translate over to the CRG page.

It should.
You will get better results copying the template from Gallery to CRG, than you will copying from Auto Index to CRG. Gallery and CRG share more commonality.

Now the page looks just fine but the items, selection,feedback symbols do not show up as they do when looking at the page in LR.

did you enable feedback in the album set up under the Integration tab?

define the login credentials per client via ttg-be > crg admin > settings > clients
