Newbie Publisher installation help ....

Ok, I will admit from the start that I am not technically minded in any sense so after reading the instructions to install publisher my head in now in a spin.

I reached the second paragraph which says  ...

"Set a strong password by editing the file publisher/api/config.php and changing the default password. "

So my question is HOW do is edit this? I don't understand code and don't even know how to open it. Do I open with text edit or something similar?

The instructions tell us to do it but not how to do it.

I would greatly appreciate some help here.

Cheers, Allan

TextEdit should work, though better text-editors are available. On a Mac, TextWrangler is free.

Re: Newbie Publisher installation help ....

Well, I have managed to load everything but the frustration continues. Honestly this is doing my head in..... I don't even know where I should post this as I don't know if my issue is with Pages, Publisher, Gallery or a combination of all.

I find Lightroom itself to be very intuitive but TTG is killing me. I can now see publisher inside Lightroom so I guess I have done something right.

All I want to do is to use pages to build a portfolio website..........

1. I have the Home page set fine and happy with the styling.
2. I have the main gallery page set up and happy with the styling, BUT when I click on an image on the main gallery page to go into the individual galleries nothing happens.

Do I need to use a gallery module (eg. photo swipe gallery module) and not the pages module or am I doing something else wrong. ARGHHHHHHHHHH

Re: Newbie Publisher installation help ....

Is there a step by step "Pages" Youtube tutorial? Something from the very start to the very end. I cannot find a thing.

At this stage I have an empty web space where my old web site was. The only thing that is in the public_html folder is the "publisher" folder which I put there as per the instructions and a "galleries" fold which is empty.

I honestly thought all I had to do was design my TTG Pages site inside of Lightroom and export it with all the images being populated but I am now thinking that there is a whole lot more to do here.

I have read the wiki instructions but wayyyy too confusing for a non tech guy.

It's not a YouTube video, but we do have a step-by-step guide to building your first site:

This might help as well. It was written pre-CE3 but still applies

Thanks for that. It has helped clear my head a little.

I have followed the instructions as best as I can and now have a test site online using pages and have a gallery online using CE3 Gallery.

I have publisher installed in LR and created a new publisher album as per the instructions. I added 2 images to that album but when I clicked on the "Publish" button at the top I received the following error message ....

"Can't update this collection.

Unable to perform action: uploadRendition

Message: Unable to authenticate"

Not sure what I am doing wrong

Re: Newbie Publisher installation help ....

Ok
Did you go through the authentication when setting up Publisher in Lightroom?
http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … r_instance

If so, did you get a "successful" message?

Have you set folder permission on your galleries/ folder to 777 or 755?

A link to your site would also help.
