Information on Theater Add-on

I'm looking at adding the Galleria and / or the Theater add-ons to give me additional facilities for my web site, and I've struggled to find full descriptions of what you can do with each, so that I can choose. Am I missing something obvious on the TTG site, or can anyone point me in the right direction.

Actually, I've just managed to find a YouTube video with a pretty full run through of Galleria, which was great (although I can't remember hows I got to it - there doesn't seem to be any obvious link from the main site?). Is there anything similar for Theater?

While I'm asking, perhaps I can get some advice on the best way to achieve my first objective...?

My site is mainly wildlife photos, and some of these are action sequences of 5 - 20 still shots that I would like to show as auto-play slide shows - is that best achieved with Galleria or Theater, or is there another way to do the same thing?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Information on Theater Add-on

Either will work.
Galleria is a slideshow.
Theater has a different slide show plus a lot of other presentation options.
Here’s a ttg page with examples of all album types, including Galleria and a Theater examples: http://theturninggate.net/galleries/01- … strations/

Thanks Rod - so either will work, but it would still be helpful to get a full description of Theater to make an informed decision - does that not exist anywhere?

There’s the description in the add-on Tab of the shop page: http://theturninggate.net/backlight-2/

Re: Information on Theater Add-on

Yes - that's where I started. I was looking for something with a bit more detail than a couple of sentences! That's why the video on Galleria was good - it gave me a real feel for what that one could do - I guess that the implication is that nothing similar exists for Theater, which makes it a bit difficult to know what you are getting?

Re: Information on Theater Add-on

there's also the documentation: http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … hp#theater

Filmstrip and Flexstrip don't have write-ups in the docs though. But there are demos of those on that demo page.

Theater is like Stage from the CE days. Only it does even more. Kind of a Swiss army knife of add-ons.

Re: Information on Theater Add-on

Yeah, sorry. Theater is a little bit of an odd duck. We mostly rely on the demos to show what it can do. A video is a good idea, and something I should do some time.

Galleria is strictly slideshow, and I think more robust and interesting. If you only need an inline slideshow, I think that's the way to go. And it can do full-screen as well.

If you need something other than the slideshow, then Theater does everything that Theater does. Browser through the demonstrations here:
http://theturninggate.net/galleries/01- … strations/

For each demo, the description will tell you what it is.

And anyone that's looking for that Galleria video, it's here:

Re: Information on Theater Add-on

Thanks Matt - I think that Galleria is the right option for what I want. I'm still playing around with ideas, but I'm pretty sure that I will go with that.
