Plans are on hold. The implementation is complicated and there is little demand for it and even for the Cart as a whole.

The cart is one of the main reasons for me and I am sure a lot of professional photographers out there.

I'm still using Backlight 1 but was considering updating to Backlight 2, does that look like the "cart" will be dropped then?

Cart works exactly the same way with Backlight 2 as it did with Backlight.

Cart is not being dropped; just maintained. It's difficult to justify spending time on it to develop new features. It doesn't have enough users.
