I've just had a look.  I can't help with item 1. without FTP access.  To be honest, with a mix of CE3 and CE4 and six year old code, my ability to help will be limited.

For item 2, can you try the following:

Edit the file publisher/api/lib/markdown.php and change line 191 from this:

function Markdown_Parser() {

To this:

function __construct() {
