Use of new function RSS Feeds

Hello,
BL3 is RSS Feeds available.  There is no description in the documentation how this will be integrated on the pages and in the albums. I have activated the function in BL Settings. What else do I have to do.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

Just enable it. Viewers can then subscribe to your site using their favorite RSS reader.

In the reader I subscribed to, I just had to enter the site url and it detected the feed: (yoursite.com/feed)

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

Rod, Ben, Matthew - I love the ability to use an RSS feed.  I do have a question though.  I looked at my feed and see images in various albums but I was wondering if there is a way to limit the feed to a specific album, or does it just pick up the last updates to the entire website?

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

I think it's the entire site other than hidden albums. But Ben will need to verify that.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

The main feed is for the entire site.

You may also provide album-specific feeds. These are:

site.com/set/album/feed

By which I mean, put "/feed" at the end of any album URL.

As the main site feed is what's in the head, though, you'll need to provide your own buttons for this. I'm planning to do a feature about RSS feeds soon; hopefully this weekend, if I can get away from support or feeding myself long enough to make it happen.

For a generic RSS feed, you can put this Markdown into any of the copy sections for your album or album template:

[Album RSS Feed](./feed/)

EDIT:
The striked-out sentence is misinformation. Albums do present their own album-specific feed in the head, and so it should not be required to create your own feed link for the album. I mean, you can if you want to, but the feed should be discoverable in the usual ways without it.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

Edited above. The trailing slash -- "/feed/", not "/feed" -- is important.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

Behind: "site.com/set/album/feed" you have to add ".php" to make it actually work in the RSS reader
The part: "[Album RSS Feed](./feed/)" makes no difference , not that I noted...

That might be a quirk of your specific reader. I haven't had to do that in any of the ones I've tried.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

I was also mistaken above, when I said that albums would have the Site feed in their head. We're working on some RSS feed improvements for our first update to Backlight 3, and I can see that albums do present their own feed in the head, and non-album pages then use the Site feed. My apologies for the misinformation above.

Re: Use of new function RSS Feeds

Apologies if this is a dumb question: If RSS is enabled in "Edit Backlight Settings", is the feed automatically created? Is there anything else that needs to be enabled for the feed to be created?
