#101 Re: CE4 Gallery » why I see "Galleries >> myname-gallery....." ? » 2014-10-22 00:40:48

Thanks Rod!...I was thoroughly revising and upgrading my web site after adding Stage to my CE4 system and it seems that I forgot to check the settings for each album!....now is all clear!......I hope to finish the revision of my web site during the next days...every day I find a detail that needs some adjustment.....but the upgrade to CE4 has been fantastic!....never was it so easy to create and, more important, maintain a site with the team Lightroom+TTG....

I have found that in certain cases, when I open a gallery, above the thumbnails I see the line: "Galleries >>...the name of the gallery".  I do not find where this statement was set during the built of the gallery using CE-Gallery.....and funny thing is that it appears only for one or two galleries, not for all, although all the galleries were using the same templates.....Any clue?

#103 Re: CE4 Publisher » How page images are assigned when using Publisher? » 2014-10-20 09:14:48

but when I export and upload  Pages, I have to upload all the images of the filmstrip, some for the Home gallery and the other for the various pages...right?.....as I am also using Stage for making the gallery for the Home page to be published by Publisher, I am uploading twice some of the images...or I am doing anything wrong?

#104 Re: CE4 Publisher » Do I need Pages or Stage to update my site with Publisher? » 2014-10-20 09:04:27

once again, I guess I did a mistake or at least I misunderstood Pages and Stage, that's why I was speaking about cuplicated folders/files. Now I think I am understanding CE4.....it seems (correct me please if I am wrong) that one needs Pages for making the "page" and Stage only if one wants to publish the images of the Home page with Publisher. In this case, one has to design a "Page" template and then a "Stage" template that actually means a "gallery" template for the Home page. If this is the case, one has some kind of "duplication" in the sense that there is a Photo folder with the images for the pages, created by Pages, and also a second Photo folder inside pages-gallery, which was created by Stage and located under the "gallery" folder.  So that, it seems to me that it is not possible to upload only the Page Images with Pages and then the rest of the gallery slideshow that appears in the Home page, with Stage. Am I right?

second point: if one cannot avoid Pages for creating the site and needs Stage for creating the home page gallery under Publisher control, I wonder why the CE4 Web publishing "Bundle" does not include Stage......it is of utmost importance to have Stage if one really wants to make full use of Publisher....or not?

just the thoughts of a person who bought the Bundle......and afterwards  Stage......and is enjoying both products...

I have installed Stage and exported the template corresponding to my Home page.  I have assigned a different image from the filmstrip to each page using the Get Image by ID slider. However, I have noticed that once I created a new album for the Page, I found no way to indicate which image corresponds to 1,2,3 and 4......how does Publisher works in the case of a home page made with Pages?.....With the very first page, which was also prepared with Pages and the transalated to Stage,  I found no problems as it has no menu and all the published images go to the Flip-Full Screen, but in the case where one   has included a menu, the things are not so clear.....so before publishing anything I would like to know if I am making a mistake or not...

thanks in advance!,

I found the answer: Yes!....great job Matt!!....it is now so easy to update the web!!!!....I have only one doubt (at the moment): I uploaded originallly the home page copying the folders and files created by Pages so that I found that some folders are now duplicated after installing the gallery created with Stage: it is safe to delete them?....are there other files or folders that can also be deleted?

I have upgraded my web site www.agustinbolzan.com.ar from CE3 to CE4 and I want to use Publisher to update my Home pages.....yes, I say pages in plural because I designed my site as bilingual, so that I have the "entrance page" with a Flip-Gallery and from there, one can select "English" or "Spanish". I tried to setup Publisher for my "entrance page" and failed.....seems that Publisher does not like how the site was designed.....I used Pages not Stage, so I wonder if what I want to do is not possible with Pages but it does with Stage....

OK, I see what you're trying to do. Two separate sites, English and Spanish, in the root of the site.
What you have laid out looks like it will work just fine.

Yes, it works fine indeed.....(see if you like www.agustinbolzan.com.ar

But you need an entry page too? And you've been using the full page flip for this?

I need the entry page for selecting the language.....

Yes, but I think you'll need to install an instance of Pages here with it's own ttg-be so that Publisher can manage the Home page gallery:

/Spanish
/English
/Entry/
        ttg-be/
                publisher/

Otherwise you'd need to use a stand-alone Stage page for the Flip gallery entry page and upload any image changes manually.

OK!, I will do this...

So for each [publisher] folder there should be a [ttg-be] one above....

the question was if I can use both CE3 and CE4 during a transition time, so that,  I  can update my web site while I am still developing the new one with CE4.

sure. One doesn't depend on the other. But you'll have some considerations to think about with respect to Publisher and existing albums. And you won't be able to share any common files like with the Shared Resources feature or phplugins for navigation.

Also, if you want to use the Publisher migration tool that will transfer control of CE3 Publisher managed albums and album sets to CE4, you won't be able add any new albums until after the migration:
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _migration

uhmm....seems  that  it would be better to leave the web site as it is now and prepare a new web site with CE4 and then remove all CE3 from Lightroom and replace the old web site....so that there will be no interference between them

thanks once again!!...

#109 Re: CE4 Publisher » how to configure Publisher CE4 » 2014-08-03 04:12:18

let me understand what you say: now with CE4 the  new organisation of my folders under \public-html\  should be:

[english]--------------------------[ttg-be]---[publisher]--------------------[api]
                                                               [fragments]                       [logs]
                                                               [galleries]                          [templates]
                                                               [photos]                            [templates_autoindex]
                                                               [phpplugins-sample]
                                                               [resources]
                                                               [thumbnails]
[fragments]
[galleries]
[phpplugins-sample]
[resources]
[spanish]--------------------------[ttg-be]---[publisher]---------------------[idem above...]
                                                               [fragments]
                                                               [galleries]
                                                               [phpplugins-sample]
                                                               [resources]
                                                               [thumbnails]

right? or can I also install an  instance of Publisher for the root folder? (i.e. at the same level of [spanish] and [english], so that I can publish the pictures of the first Page of  the site)...and yes, I am using Pages....

respect to the second point, the question was if I can use both CE3 and CE4 during a transition time, so that,  I  can update my web site while I am still developing the new one with CE4.

I do not remeber where or when Matt said (for CE3) that it was not possible to upload images to my first Page (which uses Flip, Full-screen Gallery) with an instance of Publisher....so they should to be uploaded manually by ftp.....

thanks a lot for your help,

Agustin

I have configured my CE3 web site (www.agustinbolzan.com.ar)   for both Spanish and  English,  so that I have under public_html:

[english]
[fragments]
[galleries]
[phpplugins-sample]
[resources]
[spanish]
[thumbnails]

and    under either   [spanish] or [english], all the same plus  [publisher], so that in  Lightroom  I have two instances of Publisher in   order  to publish in two languages.  Now with ttg-b:  should I also   install two instances of [ttg-be], and     under each one install Publisher?...because for CE3 I needed to

Second  question: while I prepared my new CE4 website....can I still use the  CE3 implementation? Are there any conflict between both version?....

Third one:  with CE3 I had to publish the Home page using Flip Full screen gallery  manually....is still the same with CE4?

thanks!

I have recently bought the new CE3 version  of TTG but I still have the old CE one (bought in 2011) that I was using for preparing and mantaining my web page till now. The question is if I can leave the old TTG Pages and Highslide in my Lightroom and install the new one, because I want to still update my web page while I learn how to use the new version. Is it possible or are they not compatible?
